SNRPD3 is a small nuclear ribonucleoprotein (snRNPs) that contains the spliceosome in eukaryotes. SNRPD3 is essential for pre-mRNA splicing and small nuclear ribonucleoprotein biogenesis. Alternative splicing happens in this locus and two transcript variants encoding the same protein were branded.

Ribosomal Protein L5, also known as RPL5 is a part of the ribosomal protein L18P family. RPL5 which binds 5S RNA is necessary for rRNA maturation and structure of the 60S ribosomal subunits.

NUDT10 belongs to the Nudix hydrolase family of pyrophosphatases. Nudix hydrolases contain a characteristic Nudix domain and are responsible for catalyzing the hydrolysis of nucleoside diphosphate derivatives. NUDT10 functions as a manganese-dependent polyphosphate phosphohydrolase with an optimum pH of 8.5. NUDT10 protein specifically metabolizes diadendosine-polyphosphates and, to a lesser extent, diphosphoinositol polyphosphates.

Processing of Precursor 4 (POP4) is a member of the eukaryotic/archaeal RNase P protein component 1 family. POP4 is one of the protein subunits of the small nucleolar ribonucleoprotein complexes: the endoribonuclease for mitochondrial RNA processing complex and the ribonuclease P complex. POP4 is confined to the nucleus and associates promptly with the RNA component of this complexes.POP4 is participating in processing of precursor RNAs.

C8, a component of the complement system consists of three polypeptides C8A, C8B and C8G and takes part in the formation of Membrane Attack Complex (MAC). Patients with C8 deficiency are exposed to several bacteria infections. C8G, a member of the lipocalin family and calycin superfamily, is a secreted protein that can bind retinol. C8G is created in the liver, monocytes and fibroblast and has a role in clearing pathogens from an infected host.

SOX2 is a transcription factor that forms a trimeric complex with OCT4 on DNA and controls the expression of a number of genes involved in embryonic development such as YES1, FGF4, UTF1 and ZFP206. SOX4 is important for early embryogenesis and for embryonic stem cell pluripotency.

Geminin is a 25 kDa nuclear protein, which inhibits DNA replication and is degraded during the mitotic phase of the cell cycle. Geminin controls replication by binding to the licensing factor Cdt1, and is involved in neural differentiation. In addition, Geminin directly interacts with Six3 and Hox homeodomain proteins during embryogenesis and inhibits their functions. Geminin can also promote DNA replication. Geminin has 2 roles in 2 different stages of the cell cycle: Geminin is a negative regulator of DNA replication during the “S phase” of the cell cycle. Inhibition of Geminin during the “S phase” (by RNAi) results in an additional round of replication of portions of the genome. During the “M phase” of the cell cycle (mitosis) Geminin stabilizes the replication factor Cdt1 promoting DNA replication during the next cell cycle. Moreover, inhibition of Geminin during mitosis (by RNAi) causes destabilization of Cdt1 protein and impairment of DNA replication during the next cell cycle. Geminin thus guarantees that only one round of replication occurs during each cell cycle. It was discovered that Geminin is overexpressed in a number of malignancies and cancer cell lines. This maintains the concept that Geminin has also a positive role in DNA replication and cell cycle progression. Geminin accumulates through S, G2 and M phases of the cell cycle but is absent during the G1 phase. During the metaphase/anaphase transition of mitosis Geminin levels decrease.

Reticulon 4 Receptor, also known as RTN4R, plays a role as a receptor for RTN4, OMG and MAG. RTN4R is a glycosylphosphoinositol (GPI)-anchored protein which is a part from the Nogo recptor family. RTN4R is expressed mainly in neurons and their axons and is regulates axonal regeneration and plasticity in the adult central nervous system. RTN4R is a potential drug target for treating various neurological cases such as spinal cord injury, CNS lesions, stroke and Alzheimer's disease.

RCN1 is a calcium-binding protein which binds calcium and controls calcium-dependent activities in the endoplasmic reticulum lumen or post-ER compartment. RCN1 withholds six conserved regions with similarity to a high affinity Ca(+2)-binding motif, the EF-hand.
High conservation of amino acid residues outside of these motifs, in relation to mouse reticulocalbin, is consistent with a biochemical function further to that of calcium binding. In human endothelial and prostate cancer cell lines RCN1 protein is localized to the plasma membrane.

Regulation Of Nuclear Pre-MRNA Domain Containing 1A (RPRD1A) is upregulated in cells overexpressing cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitor p15(INK4b) and may have a part in cell cycle regulation. RPRD1A interacts with phosphorylated C-terminal heptapeptide repeat domain (CTD) of the largest RNA polymerase II subunit POLR2A, and partakes in dephosphorylation of the CTD. RBM8A belongs to the EJC (The exon junction complex) which is involved in mRNA export, cytoplasmic localization and nonsense mediated mRNA decay. RBM8A is able to communicate to the cytoplasm the processing history of the mRNA, including the position of the removed introns. Even though RBM8A shuttles to the cytoplasm, it is mostly detected in the nucleus and is colocalized with oskar mRNA at the posterior pole of the cell.

UNG is a member of the Uracil-DNA glycosylase family. One of his functions is to prevent mutagenesis by eliminating uracil from DNAmolecules by cleaving the N-glycosylic bond and initiating the base-excision repair (BER) pathway. Uracil basesare formed as a result of cytosine deamination or misincorporation of dUMP residues. After a mutation is formed, the mutagenicthreat of uracil propagates through any subsequent DNA replication steps. Among the diseases associated with UNG are: congenital rubella, and immunodeficiency with hyper igm type 4.

The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the bone morphogenetic protein family which is part of the transforming growth factor-beta superfamily. The superfamily includes large families of growth and differentiation factors. Bone morphogenetic proteins were originally identified by an ability of demineralized bone extract to induce endochondral osteogenesis in vivo in an extraskeletal site. This particular family member plays an important role in the onset of endochondral bone formation in humans, and a reduction in expression has been associated with a variety of bone diseases, including the heritable disorder Fibrodysplasia Ossificans Progressiva. Alternative splicing in the 5' untranslated region of this gene has been described and three variants are described, all encoding an identical protein.

The rat protein is known to bind to both initiator and elongator tRNAs, therefore, it is located at the P site, or P and A sites, of the ribosome. Though RPL35A was initially mapped to chromosome 18, it has been proven that it is located at 3q29-qter. Transcript variants utilizing alternative transcription initiation sites and alternative polyA signals exist. DNA Cytosine-5--Methyltransferase 3-Like (DNMT3L) is a nuclear protein with similarity to DNA methyltransferases, but is not believed to act as a DNA methyltransferase since it doesn’t contain the amino acid residues needed for methyltransferase activity. Nevertheless, DNMT3L stimulates de novo methylation by DNA cytosine methyltransferase 3 alpha and is assumed to be required for the formation of maternal genomic imprints. DNMT3L also mediates transcriptional repression as a result of interaction with histone deacetylase 1. EXOSC8 appears to be involved in degradation of histone mRNA. EXOSC8 attaches to ARE-containing RNAs. The EXOSC8 gene encodes a 3'-5' exoribonuclease, which specifically interacts with mRNAs containing AU-rich elements. The EXOSC8 protein is part of the exosome complex, which is significant for the degradation of many RNA species.

ADP-ribosylarginine hydrolase (ADPRH) is a member of the ADP-ribosylglycohydrolase family. ADPRH catalyzes the removal of mono-ADP-ribose from arginine residues of proteins in the ADP-ribosylation cycle. The human ADPRH enzyme is DTT-independent as opposed to the rat and mouse enzymes, which require DTT for maximal activity.
