Dehydrogenase

SORD enzyme is part of of the zinc-containing alcohol dehydrogenase family that is broadly expressed in kidney and in the lens eye. SORD enzymatically catalyzes the zinc-dependent interconversion of polyols, such as sorbitol and xylitol, to their respective ketoses.

SORD, also referred to as sorbitol dehydrogenase, belongs to the zinc-containing alcohol dehydrogenase family. It is widely produced. The lens of the eyeand the kidney are the protein highest production areas. Zinc-dependent interconversion of polyols, like sorbitol and xylitol, are enzymatically catalysed to their respective ketoses by SORD.

RDH12 is a member of the short-chain Dehydrogenases / Reductases (SDR) family. RDH12 is found generally in brain, stomach, eye, skeletal muscle and kidney. RDH12 is a NADPH-dependent retinal reductase whose main activity is toward 9-cis and all-trans-retinol. In addition, RDH12 takes part in the metabolism of short-chain aldehydes but does not display steroid dehydrogenase activity.

These glycosylated products are ordinary molecules of the extracellular matrix and participate in signal transduction, cell migration, and cancer growth and metastasis.

Isocitrate dehydrogenase [NAD] subunit gamma (IDH3G) mitochondrial is a member of the isocitrate and isopropylmalate dehydrogenases family. Isocitrate dehydrogenases catalyze the oxidative decarboxylation of isocitrate to 2-oxoglutarate.
