ZFAND3 holds a DNA-binding domain and has a large number of purposes, most of which include certain form of transcriptional activation or repression. ZFAND3 is a 251 aa protein having two AN1-type zinc fingers and two UIM (ubiquitin-interacting motif) repeats. The AN1-type zinc finger domain is conserved in animals and plants and is frequently found in proteins which hold an ubiquitin-like domain, which proposes a part in the ubiquitination pathway.

FKBP1A is a 12kDa protein initially discovered on an immune cells on the basis of its capability to bind as well as mediate the intracellular effect of the immunosuppressant FK506. FKBP1A is also known to mediate the action of Rapamycin-immunosuppressive agent. FKBP1A is part of the family of immunophilins, which have in common high affinity for immunosuppressant drugs and a peptidyl-prolyl cis-trans isomerase (PPIase). Activity which participates in folding of proline-containing protein. In the absence of immunosuppressive ligands, FKBP1A is involved in intracellular calcium regulation by associating with 3 types of Ca2+ release channel complexes: skeletal ryanodine receptors, cardiac ryanodine receptors and the inositol 1,4,5-triphosphate receptor. FKBP1A also interact with TGF-beta type I receptor exerting an inhibitory effect on the TGF-beta signaling pathway. FKBP12 plays a role in modulation of ryanodine receptor isoform-1 (ryr-1), a component of the calcium release channel of skeletal muscle sarcoplasmic reticulum. FKBP1A increase the folding of proteins and catalyzes the cis-trans isomerization of proline imidic peptide bonds in oligopeptides.

LYVE-1 has been identified as a major receptor for HA (extracellular matrix glycosaminoglycan hyaluronan) on the lymph vessel wall. The deduced amino acid sequence of LYVE-1 predicts a 322-residue type I integral membrane polypeptide 41% similar to the CD44 HA receptor with a 212-residue extracellular domain containing a single Link module the prototypic HA binding domain of the Link protein superfamily. Like CD44, the LYVE-1 molecule binds both soluble and immobilized HA. However, unlike CD44, the LYVE-1 molecule colocalizes with HA on the luminal face of the lymph vessel wall and is completely absent from blood vessels. Hence, LYVE-1 is the first lymph-specific HA receptor to be characterized and is a uniquely powerful marker for lymph vessels themselves.

RHOQ (rho-related GTP-binding protein RhoQ) is a small signaling G protein which cycles between an active GTP-bound and an inactive GDP-bound state. In the active state it binds to a diversity of effector proteins to regulate cellular responses. Ras-like protein belongs to the Rac subfamily of the Rho family of GTPases. RHOQ is involved in epithelial cell polarization processes. In addition, RHOQ plays a role in CFTR trafficking to the plasma membrane. Nedd4 Family Interacting Protein 1 (NDFIP1) is a part of a small group of evolutionarily conserved proteins having 3 ransmembrane domains. NDFIP1 is a possible target for ubiquitination by the Nedd4 family of proteins. NDFIP, which is a member of a family of integral Golgi membrane proteins, also modulates EGFR signaling through multiple pathways.

USE1 Belongs to the USE1 family, this protein is a vesicle transport protein. USE1 is a component of a SNAREcomplex consisting of STX18, USE1L, BNIP1/SEC20L and SEC22B. In addition USE1 interacts directly with STX18. SNARE maybe involved in targeting and fusion of Golgi-derived retrograde transport vesicles with the ER. The gamma globin genes which are HBG1 and HBG2, usually expressed in the fetal liver, spleen and bone marrow. 2 gamma chains together along with 2 alpha chains comprise fetal hemoglobin (HbF) which is normally replaced by mature hemoglobin (HbA) at birth. Gamma chain production continues into adulthood in several beta-thalassemias and linked situations. The two types of gamma chains differ at residue 136 where glycine is found in the G-gamma product (HBG2) and alanine is found in the A-gamma product (HBG1). The former is predominant at birth.

Mesoderm development candidate 1 (MESDC1) is a member of the MESD family. MESDC1 is a 362 amino acid protein encoded by a gene which maps to human chromosome 15q25.1. MESDC1 serves as a chaperone for low-density lipoprotein receptor (LDLR) proteins in the ER, and specifically associates with Wnt signaling pathway coreceptors LRP5 and LPR6. MESDC1 is needed for proper LRP5/6 folding and maturation to the cell surface, which has a key role in Wnt signaling.

RAB31 Member RAS Oncogene Family (RAB31) is a 194 amino lipid-anchored protein which localizes to the cytoplasmic side of the cell membrane and is a member of the Ras related GTPase superfamily. RAB31 is expressed at high levels in the lung, brain and heart. RAB31 functions in a similar mode to other Rab proteins, namely playing a part in protein transport. Small GTP-binding proteins of the RAB family, for example RAB31, play critical roles in vesicle and granule targeting. RAB31 gas the highest expression in the placenta and brain with lower levels in the heart and lung. However, RAB31 is not detected in liver, skeletal muscle, kidney or pancreas.

Surfeit-2 (SURF2) is a member of the SURF2 family. SURF2 interacts with beta-1, 4-Gal-T3, uPAR and WDR20. SURF2 is located in the surfeit gene cluster, a group of extremely tightly linked genes that don't share sequence similarity. The SURF2 gene maps to human chromosome 9q34.2 and shares a bidirectional promoter with SURF1 that is found on the opposite strand. The intergenic region between the SURF1 and SURF2 genes is expected to have bidirectional promoter activity, as is found in mice.

Nephroblastoma Overexpressed (NOV) which is encoded by the NOV gene is a part of the CCN (CTGF/CYR61/NOV) family. NOV takes part in reducing tumorgenicity and proliferation of certain cancer cell lines. NOV interacts with numerous proteins and is involved in both internal and external cell signaling. NOV is expressed in particular tumors, including Wilm’s tumor and most nephroblastomas and is also exerts proangiogenic activities.

Histone H2A.Z (H2AFZ) belongs to the histone H2A family. Histones are basic nuclear proteins which are responsible for the nucleosome structure of the chromosomal fiber in eukaryotes. Nucleosomes consist of approximately 146 bp of DNA wrapped around a histone octamer composed of pairs of each of the four core histones (H2A, H2B, H3, and H4). H2AFZ is implicated in the formation of constitutive heterochromatin and vital for chromosome segregation during cell division. Moreover, variant Histone H2A, which takes the place of conventional H2A in a subset of nucleosomes. Studies in mice have demonstrated that this particular histone is essential for embryonic development and show that lack of functional histone H2A leads to embryonic lethality.
