VCAM1 is a member of the Ig superfamily. It is a cell surface sialoglycoprotein expressed by cytokine activated endothelium. VCAM-1 contains 6 or 7 immunoglobulin domains, and is expressed on both large and small vessels only after the endothelial cells are stimulated by cytokines. The protein has a number of functions including the regulation of leukocyte migration, leukocyte endothelial cell adhesion and signal transduction and may play a role in a number of inflammatory diseases (artherosclerosis and rheumatoid arthritis).

Translocase of Outer Mitochondrial Membrane 34 (TOMM34) which is found in the cytoplasm and sometimes associated with the outer mitochondrial membrane is involved in the import of precursor proteins into mitochondria. TOMM34 has a chaperone-like activity, binding the mature portion of unfolded proteins and aiding their import into mitochondria. TOMM34 has a weak ATPase activity and contains 6 TPR repeats.

MBP is a major component of the myelin sheath of oligodendrocytes and Schwann cells in the nervous system, although, MBP-related transcripts are also present in the bone marrow and the immune system. These mRNAs emerge from the long MBP gene which holds three additional exons located upstream of the classic MBP exons. The Golli mRNAs contain three exons unique to Golli-MBP, spliced in-frame to one or more MBP exons. The second family of transcripts contains only MBP exons and produces the well characterized myelin basic proteins. MBP transcription unit is an essential part of the Golli transcription unit and the arrangement is important for the function and/or regulation of these genes.

Progesterone-Associated Endometrial Protein (PAEP) is a member of the kernel lipocalin super family whose members share rather low sequence similarity but have highly conserved exon/intron structure and three-dimensional protein folding. Most lipocalins are clustered on the long arm of chromosome 9. PAEP protein has been previously referred to as pregnancy-associated endometrial alpha-2-globulin, placental protein 14, and glycodelin.

Clathrin, light chain A (CLTA) is a member of the clathrin family. Clathrin, which is a large, soluble protein, is comprised of heavy and light chains. CLTA is one of 2 clathrin light chain proteins which are supposed to function as regulatory elements. CLTA is a key cytosolic coat protein in pits and vesicles originating from the plasma membrane and the trans-Golgi network. In receptor-mediated endocytosis, receptor proteins are encapsulated by Clathrin-coated vesicles.

SAP18 is a component of the histone deacetylase complex which has a significant role in the regulation of eukaryotic gene expression. SAP18 directly interacts with SIN3 and enhances SIN3-mediated transcriptional repression once bound to the promoter. SAP18 plays an important part in gene-specific recruitment of the HDAC complex by a number of transcription factors including Gli, GAGA, and Bicoid. Histone acetylation is significant in the regulation of eukaryotic gene expression. Histone acetylation and deacetylation is catalyzed by multisubunit complexes. SAP18 is a component of the histone deacetylase complex, which includes SIN3, SAP30, HDAC1, HDAC2, RbAp46, RbAp48, and other polypeptides. SAP18 is a component of a splicing-dependent multiprotein EJC (exon junction complex) placed at splice junction on mRNAs.

LZIC is a member of the CTNNBIP1 family. LZIC protein is universally expressed, with largest levels in kidney and up-regulated in various cases of gastric cancers. LZIC has no interaction with CTNNB1.

Lipopolysaccharide is a potent stimulator of monocytes and macrophages, causing secretion of tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha) and other inflammatory mediators. LITAF is a lipopolysaccharide-induced TNF-alpha factor, which is a DNA-binding protein and can mediate the TNF-alpha expression by direct binding to the promoter region of the TNF-alpha gene. The transcription of the LITAF gene is induced by tumor suppressor p53 and has been implicated in the p53-induced apoptotic pathway. Mutations in the LITAF gene cause Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease type 1C (CMT1C) and may be involved in the carcinogenesis of extramammary Paget''s disease (EMPD).

Matrix Metalloproteinase-13 (MMP-13) is an enzyme that is a member of the MMP extracellular protease family. Extracellular protease enzymes, by virtue of their broad substrate specificities1, play a role in both normal and disease states of tissue proliferation. Among the targets of MMP-13 are collagen, gelatin, entactin, pro-TNF-a, and chemokine SDF-11-4.
MMP-13 is found in its latent form as a 52-56 kDa glycosylated proenzyme. Upon cleavage the 22-46 kDa5 MMP-1 becomes active in extracellular matrix remodeling.
Because of the prominent role that MMP-1 plays in cell migration and metastasis, it is an important target for inhibition screening.

Proteasome subunit alpha type-8 (PSMA8) is a member of the peptidase T1A family. PSMA8 is a multicatalytic proteinase complex which is distinguished by its ability to cleave peptides with Arg, Phe, Tyr, Leu, and Glu adjacent to the leaving group at neutral or slightly basic pH. The proteasome has an ATP-dependent proteolytic activity. The PSMA8 subunit may be testis-specific.

Charged multivesicular body protein 6 (CHMP6) is a member of the SNF7 family. The CHMP6 protein is a core component of the endosomal sorting necessary for transport complex III (ESCRT-III) that is involved in multivesicular bodies (MVBs) formation and sorting of endosomal cargo proteins into MVBs. MVBs contain intraluminal vesicles (ILVs) which are produced by invagination and scission from the limiting membrane of the endosome and generally are transported to lysosomes facilitating degradation of membrane proteins, such as stimulated growth factor receptors, lysosomal enzymes and lipids.

The recombinant Protein A/G/L is a genetically engineered protein which combines the IgG binding profiles of all Protein A, Protein G and Protein L. Protein A/G/L is a gene fusion product. Recombinant fusion protein A/G/L is comprised of 5 Ig-binding regions of protein L (B1-B2-B3-B4-B5), 5 IgG binding domains from Protein A (E-D-A-B-C) and 2 Ig-binding region of protein G (C1-C3). The recombinant Protein A/G/L is ideal for purification of monoclonal or polyclonal IgG antibodies. Protein A/G/L binds to IgG from humans, mice, rats, cows, goats, sheep, rabbits, guinea pigs, pigs, dogs and cats.

Mammalian mitochondrial ribosomal proteins encoded by nuclear genes and helps in protein synthesis within the mitochondrion. Mitochondrial ribosomes (mitoribosomes) consist of a small 28S subunit and a large 39S subunit. MRPL28 is an important therapeutic reagent for HLA-A24 (A24) patients since this antigen is distinguished by tumor-infiltrating lymphocyte (TIL) 1290, which targets the A24 serotype.

Actin Filament Associated Protein 1 (AFAP1) is a Src binding partner. AFAP1 is a possible modulator of actin filament integrity in response to cellular signals, and is also playing a role as an adaptor protein by connecting Src family members to actin filaments. AFAP1 takes partin the development and progression of prostate adenocarcinoma by regulating cell-matrix adhesions and migration in the cancer cells.

The proteasome is a multicatalytic proteinase complex with an extremely organized ring-shaped 20S core structure. The core structure consists of 4 rings of 28 non-identical subunits; 2 rings consist of 7 alpha subunits and 2 rings consist of 7 beta subunits. Proteasomes are spread all over the eukaryotic cells in large quantities and cleave peptides in an ATP/ubiquitin-dependent procedure in a non-lysosomal pathway. A vital role of a modified proteasome, the immunoproteasome, is the handling of class I MHC peptides.

Matrix metalloproteinase-2 (MMP-2) is involved in endometrial menstrual breakdown, regulation of vascularization and the inflammatory response. MMP-2 contains a number of distinct domains: a prodomain that is cleaved upon activation; a catalytic domain containing the zinc binding site; a fibronectin like domain believed to have a role in substrate targeting; and a carboxyl terminal (hemopexin like) domain containing 2 N-linked glycosylation. The MMP-2 can degrade an extensive array of substrates including type IV, V, VII and X collagens as well as gelatin type I. In addition, MMP-2 interacts with THBS2, TIMP2, Thrombospondin 1, CCL7 and TIMP4. MMP-2 autocatalytic cleavage in the C-terminal generates the anti-angiogenic peptide, PEX. This process seems to be made possible by binding integrinv/beta3. Defects in the MMP-2 are the cause of Torg-Winchester syndrome (TWS), aka multicentric osteolysis nodulosis and arthropathy (MONA).

PSMA is a cancer antigen that is widely expressed as a noncovalent homodimer on the surface of prostate cancer cells, rather than on normal cells, therefore it is an interesting target to image prostate tissues when being used with radioactive antibodies. PSMA is expressed on the surface of novel blood vessels that nourish a broad range of other solid tumors. PSMA is a type II membrane protein with folate hydrolase activity produced by prostatic epithelium. PSMA expression is found in extraprostatic tissues, including small bowel and brain.

MMP-1 (interstitial collagenase) can break down a wide range of substrates including types I, II, III, VII, VIII, and X collagens as well as L-Selectin, pro-TNF, IL-1?, IGFBP-3, IGFBP-5, casein, gelatin, ?1 antitrypsin, myelin basic protein, pro-MMP2 and pro-MMP9. A significant function of MMP-1 is the degradation of fibrillar collagens in extracellular matrix remodeling. MMP-1 is expressed in fibroblasts, keratinocytes, endothelial cells, monocytes and macrophages. MMP1 can be divided into a number of distinct domains: a prodomain which is cleaved on activation, a catalytic domain containing the zinc binding site and a short hinge region with a carboxyl terminal domain. MMP1 is part of a cluster of MMP genes which localize to chromosome 11q22.3.

THAP domain-containing protein 1 (THAP1) is a 213 amino acid protein which is restricted to the nucleoplasm and contains one THAPtype zinc finger, a conserved DNA-binding domain. THAP1 is a DNA-binding transcription regulator which regulates endothelial cell proliferation and G1/S cell-cycle progression. In addition, THAP1 has a pro-apoptopic activity by potentiating both serum-withdrawal and TNF-induced apoptosis. THAP1 protein colocalizes with the apoptosis response protein PAWR/PAR-4 in promyelocytic leukemia (PML) nuclear bodies, and serves as a proapoptotic factor which connects PAWR to PML nuclear bodies.

Proteasomal ubiquitin receptor ADRM1 (ADRM1) functions as a proteasomal ubiquitin receptor. ADRM1 is an integral plasma membrane protein which promotes cell adhesion. ADRM1 is assumed to undergo O-linked glycosylation. ADRM1 employs the deubiquitinating enzyme UCHL5 at the 26S proteasome and promotes its activity.
