      Leukocyte Cell Derived Chemotaxin 1 (214-333 a.a.), also known as LECT1, is a glycosylated transmembrane protein which is cleaved to form a mature, secreted protein. The mature protein encourages chondrocyte growth and inhibits angiogenesis. The mature protein takes part in endochondral bone development by permitting cartilaginous anlagen to be vascularized and replaced by bone. LECT1 is expressed in the avascular area of prehypertrophic cartilage and its expression reduces during vascular invasion and chondrocyte hypertrophy.

    • Introduction

      Chemokine (C-C motif) ligand 7 (CCL7) is a small cytokine known as a chemokine that was previously called monocyte-specific chemokine 3 (MCP3). Due to CCL7 possessing two adjacent N-terminal cysteine residues in its mature protein, it is classified among the subfamily of chemokines known as CC chemokines. CCL7 specifically attracts monocytes, and regulates macrophage function. It is produced by certain tumor cell lines and by macrophages. This chemokine is located on chromosome 17 in humans, in a large cluster containing many other CC chemokines and is most closely related to CCL2(previously called MCP1).

      CD27 belongs to the TNF-receptor superfamily. CD27 is necessary for initiation and long-term maintenance of T cell immunity. CD27 binds to ligand CD70, and has a crucial role in regulating B-cell activation and immunoglobulin synthesis. The CD27 receptor transduces signals which result in the activation of NF-kappaB and MAPK8/JNK. Adaptor proteins TRAF2 and TRAF5 mediate the signaling process of CD27.       Mitogen-Activated Protein Kinase Kinase 2 (MAP2K2) is a dual specificity protein kinase, which is a member of the STE grouping of kinases and the MAP kinase kinase family. MAP2K2 is activated by a wide range of growth factors and cytokines and also by membrane depolarization and calcium influx. The MAP2K2 kinase is known for its vital role in mitogen growth factor signal transduction. MAP2K2 phosphorylates and consequently activates MAPK1/ERK2 and MAPK2/ERK3. The activation of the MAP2K2 kinase itself is dependent on the Ser/Thr phosphorylation by MAP kinase kinase kinases.
