Mitochondrial ribosomes (mitoribosomes) consist of a small 28S subunit and a large 39S subunit. Mitochondrial Ribosomal Protein S28, also known as MRPS28, is a protein coding gene which encodes a 28S subunit protein which is known as mitochondrial ribosomal protein S35.

Interferon Alpha and Beta Receptor Subunit 2 or IFNAR2 is a protein, part of the class II cytokine receptor family. When different innate immune signaling transduction are activated, there is a rapid induction of type I IFNs because it has an intronless gene source. IFNAR2 is the main ligand and binds to the receptor. Once bind, stabilization occurs and a signaling compelx recptor is formed. IFNAR2 also takes part in the activation process of STAT proteins.

S100A4 is a member of the S100 family of proteins containing 2 EF-hand calcium-binding motifs. S100 belongs to the family of calcium binding proteins such as calmodulin and troponin C. S100A is composed of an alpha and beta chain whereas S100B is composed of two beta chains. S100 protein is also expressed in the antigen presenting cells such as the Langerhans cells in skin and interdigitating reticulum cells in the paracortex of lymph nodes. S100 proteins are localized either in the cytoplasm or the nucleus of a wide range of cells. S100 proteins are involved in the regulation of a number of cellular processes such as cell cycle progression and differentiation. S100A4 may function in motility, invasion, and tubulin polymerization. There are at least 13 members in the S100 gene family, which are located as a cluster on chromosome 1q21. Chromosomal rearrangements and altered expression of the S100A4 gene have been implicated in tumor metastasis.

MRPS25, a 28S subunit protein, is a member of the ribosomal protein S5P family. An equivalent pseudogene is located on chromosome 4.

In addition, they have an estimated 75% protein to rRNA composition compared to prokaryotic ribosomes, where this ratio isreversed. An additional difference between mammalian mitoribosomes and prokaryotic ribosomes is that the lattercontain a 5S rRNA. Between different species, the proteins containing the mitoribosome differ very much in sequence, and occasionally in biochemical properties, which prevents easy recognition by sequence homology.

GrpE , co-chaperone of E.coli, participates actively in the response to hyperosomotic and heat shock by preventing the aggregation of stress-denatured proteins in association with DnaK. This protein is the nucleotide exchange factor for DnaK and may function as a thermosensor. Several rounds of ATP-dependent interactions between DnaJ, DnaK and GrpE are required for fully efficient folding.

Apoptosis-Inducing Factor, Mitochondrion-Associated, 1 (AIFM1) is a mitochondrial protein which translocates to the nucleus once apoptosis has been initiated. AIFM1 causes DNA fragmentation and chromatin condensation and also triggers the release of cytochrome c and caspase-9 from mitochondria. Bcl-2 overexpression prevents the release of AIFM1 from mitochondria, but doesn’t block its apoptogenic activity.

E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase RNF181 (RNF181) accepts ubiquitin from an E2 ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme in the thioester form and subsequently directly transfers the ubiquitin to targeted substrates. RNF181 is widely expressed, with the highest levels in the liver and heart and the lowest levels in the brain and skeletal muscle. RNF181 is also expressed in platelets (at protein level).

Maltose binding protein MalE,MBP, is part of the maltodextrin transport system in E. coli. The maltodextrins diffuse through the LamB pore located in the outer membrane into the periplasm. The sugar is bound to MalE which prevents it to diffuse back outside. MalE passes the sugar to a complex of MalF and MalG in the cytoplasmic membrane where active tranport is mediated by the ATPase MalK. MBP molecular weight is 40,622 dalton. There are two domains in the protein with similar secondary structure (central pleated sheets are surrounded by helices) . The domains are connected by three bridges, between the domains is a deep groove in which the sugar is bound. All hydroxyl groups of the sugar are fixed by sidechains of the protein by hydrogen bonds. Some water molecules are part of the hydrogen bridge network.

Hepatitis B virus x interacting protein (HBXIP) forms a complex with the C-terminus of hepatitis B virus X (HBX) protein. HBXIP negatively regulates HBX activity and changes the replicative life cycle of the virus. Furthermore, HBXIP is involved in bipolar spindle formation and regulates centrosome dynamics and cytokinesis in cells, possibly due to interaction with Dynein light chain. HBXIP is highly expressed in the skeletal and cardiac muscle, followed by pancreas, kidney, liver, brain, placenta and lung. Low affinity immunoglobulin gamma Fc region receptor III-A (FCGR3A) is a receptor for the Fc portion of immunoglobulin G, and is involved in the elimination of antigen-antibody complexes from the circulation, as well as other antibody-dependent responses. FCGR3A needs to associate with the gamma subunit of Fc epsilon. Estrogen receptors α (ERα, ER; NR3A1) is a member of the steroid hormone receptor family. ERα is a ligand-activated transcription factor. ERα contain DNA binding and ligand binding domains. ERα is expressed in a wide variety of tissues, including ovary, uterus, breast, prostate, testis, epididymis, bones, bladder, kidney, heart, vessel wall, pituitary gland and hypothalamus.
