Lumican also known as LUM is a part of the small leucine-rich proteoglycan (SLRP) family which comprises decorin, biglycan, fibromodulin, keratocan, epiphycan, and osteoglycin. Furthermore, we can see that in these bifunctional molecules, the protein moiety binds collagen fibrils and the highly charged hydrophilic glycosaminoglycans regulate interfibrillar spacings. Lumican is the main keratan sulfate proteoglycan of the cornea however LUM is also distributed in interstitial collagenous matrices throughout the body. Lumican regulates collagen fibril organization and circumferential growth, corneal transparency, epithelial cell migration and tissue repair.

Human Adiponectin is a secreted protein expressed exclusively in differentiated adipocyte (adipokine). Adiponectin contains a modular structure comprising an N-terminal collagenous domain followed by a C-terminal globular domain. APM-1 plays a role in various physiological processes such as energy homeostasis and obesity. Plasma levels of adiponectin are reduced in obese humans, and decreased levels are associated with insulin resistance and hyperinsulinemia.

CD36 is an integral membrane protein found in a variety cell types of mammals, it is part of the class B scavenger receptor family. In humans it is encoded by the CD36 gene. The protein binds to ligands such as native lipoproteins, collagen, long-chain fatty acids, thrombospondin etc. CD36 plays a crucial role in transporting fatty acids into the cell.

NUDT1 is found mostly in the cytoplasm, with some in the mitochondria, suggesting that it is involved in the sanitization of nucleotide pools both for nuclear and mitochondrial genomes. Moreover, NUDT1 is expressed at much higher levels in proliferating cells than in resting cells. Misincorporation of oxidized nucleoside triphosphates into DNA/RNA during replication and transcription can cause mutations which may result in carcinogenesis or neurodegeneration.

There are 4 different ebolaviruses such as: Zaire (EBO-Z), Sudan (EBO-S), Cote d’Ivoire (EBO-CI) and Reston (EBO-R) that differ in amino acid sequence and location of where the gene overlaps. The EBOV glycoprotein is the only virally expressed protein above the virion surface. The EBOV glycoprotein is essential for virus attachment to host cell and fusion with target cell. Mucin like domain within Ebola virus glycoprotein contains multiple glycosylated amino acids. It has been shown that antibodies frequently develop against its mucin like domain. Recombinant mucin like domain is a suitable antigen to test specific antibodies from Ebola virus infected patients.

Ipamorelin is a peptide selective agonist of the ghrelin/growth hormone secretagogue receptor and a growth hormone secretagogue. Ipamorelin is a pentapeptide that was derived from GHRP1. Ipamorelin significantly increases plasma growth hormone levels in both animals and humans. Like pralmorelin and GHRP-6, ipamorelin does not affect prolactin, FSH, LH or TSH levels. However, unlike GHRP2 and GHRP6, but as growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH), ipamorelin does not stimulate the secretion of adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) or cortisol, and is highly selective for inducing the secretion only of GH.
