Alpha-parvin (PARVA) belongs to the parvin family of actin-binding proteins. PARVA has a role in the regulation of cell adhesion, cytoskeleton organization, motility and survival as well as in ciliogenesis. Parvins are related with focal contacts and contain calponin homology domains which connect to actin filaments. PARVA is extensively expressed, with the highest levels in heart, skeletal muscle, kidney and liver.

GAGE2A is a member of a multigene family expressed in a large variety of tumors while in normal tissues; expression is limited to germ cells. These genes organized in clustered repeats, have a high degree of predicted sequence identity, however differ by scattered single nucleotide change. Their sequences have either the antigenic peptide YRPRPRRY or YYWPRPRRY which is recognized by cytotoxic T-cells.

Genotype is clinically important in determining potential response to interferon-based therapy and the required duration of such therapy. Genotypes 1 and 4 are less responsive to interferon-based treatment than are the other genotypes (2, 3, 5 and 6).

The protein encoded by this gene is a cytokine that regulates T and natural killer cell activation and proliferation. This cytokine and interleukine 2 share many biological activities. The REM and CDC25 domains provide the catalytic activity of SOS1 towards Ras and the histone fold DH/PH (Dbl homology & Pleckstrin homology) domains function, in tandem, to stimulate GTP/GDP exchange for Rac. Moreover, binding of GTP activates Ras proteins, and subsequent hydrolysis of the bound GTP to GDP and phosphate inactivates signaling by these proteins. GTP binding can be catalyzed by guanine nucleotide exchange factors for RAS, and GTP hydrolysis can be enhanced by GTPase-activating proteins.

H3N2 is a subtype of the influenza A virus. Its name derives from the forms of the two kinds of proteinson the surface of its coat, hemagglutinin(H) and neuraminidase(N).
