ACOT13 is highly expressed in the kidney with moderate expression in the brain, liver and intestines. ACOT13 contains a hotdog-fold and is thought to co-localize with microtubules, possibly having a role in cellular proliferation events. Deletion of a segment of the q arm of chromosome 6 is linked to early onset intestinal cancer, suggesting the presence of a cancer susceptibility locus.

Phosphatase has an elevated activity toward phosphoethanolamine (PEA) and phosphocholine (PCho). PHOSPHO 1, a phosphoethanolamine/phosphocholine phosphatase, is upregulated in mineralizing cells and is believed to be implicated in the production of inorganic phosphate for bone mineralization. PHOSPHO2 is a recognized phosphatase sharing a 42% sequence identity with PHOSPHO1. Mitochondrial methylglutaconyl-CoA hydratase (AUH) is involved in the amino acid degradation pathway by catalyzing the conversion of 3-methylglutaconyl-CoA to 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-CoA and water. AUH Human is expressed as a single mRNA species of 1.8 kb, and translated as a 40kDa precursor protein which is consequently processed to a 32kDa mature form. AUH has a very low enoyl-CoA hydratase activity. The AUH protein binds to the AU-rich element (ARE), which is a common element found in the 3' UTR of rapidly decaying mRNA such as c-fos, c-myc and granulocyte/ macrophage colony stimulating factor. AU-rich elements are involved in directing RNA to rapid degradation and deadenylation. In addition, AUH is homologous to enol-CoA hydratase, which is an enzyme involved in fatty acid degradation, and has been shown to have intrinsic hydratase enzymatic activity. AUH is therefore a bifunctional chimera between RNA binding and metabolic enzyme activity.

Dual specificity phosphatase 13 (DUSP13) is a member of the protein-tyrosine phosphatase family. DUSP13 cooperates with protein kinases to control cell proliferation and differentiation. DUSP13 is engaged in the regulation of meiosis and/or differentiation of testicular germ cells in the course of spermatogenesis. DUSP13 demonstrates intrinsic phosphatase activity towards both phospho-seryl/threonyl and -tyrosyl residues of myelin basic protein, with similar specific activities in vitro.

Introduction
Glutamate Decarboxylase 1 Isoform-1, also known as GAD1 iso1 belongs to the group II decarboxylase family. GAD1 iso1 encodes one of several forms of glutamic acid decarboxylase, and is identified as a major autoantigen in insulin-dependent diabetes. GAD1 iso1 is in charge for catalyzing the production of gamma-aminobutyric acid from L-glutamic acid. In addition, a pathogenic function for GAD1 iso1 has been shown in the human pancreas while it has been identified as an autoantigen & an autoreactive T cell target in insulin-dependent diabetes. GAD1 iso1 play a role in the stiff man syndrome. It has been shown that deficiency in this enzyme has led to pyridoxine dependency with seizures.

These enzymes function in the detoxification of electrophilic compounds, including carcinogens, therapeutic drugs, environmental toxins and products of oxidative stress, by conjugation with glutathione. There are 8 different classes of soluble cytoplasmic mammalian GST: alpha, kappa, mu, omega, pi, sigma, theta and zeta. The GSTA1 is found in a cluster mapped to chromosome 6, and is highly expressed in the liver. GSTA1 protects the cells from reactive oxygen species.

UBE2D1 is a member of the ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme family. ACP1 is part of the phosphotyrosine protein. ACP1 functions as an acid phosphatase and a protein tyrosine phosphatase (PTPase) existing in all human tissues, including adipocytes. ACP1 enzyme hydrolyzes protein tyrosine phosphate to protein tyrosine and orthophosphate, and also orthophosphoric monoesters to alcohol and orthophosphate. ACP1 is present in adipocytes, thus playing a specific role in the regulation of adipose tissue. High levels of the ACP1 negatively regulate cell proliferation and growth of leiomyomas during dephosphorylation of the PDGF receptor. High significant differences in birth weight-placental weight relationships were observed among acid phosphatase locus 1 phenotypes.
