      Nucleopurin 62kDa (NUP62) belongs to the FG-repeat containing nucleoporins and is localized to the nuclear pore central plug. Nucleoporins are the principal components of the nuclear pore complex in eukaryotic cells. This complex is a colossal structure which extends across the nuclear envelope, forming an entryway that regulates the stream of macromolecules between the nucleus and the cytoplasm. NUP62 associates with the importin alpha/beta complex that is involved in the import of proteins containing nuclear localization signals. Defects in the NUP62 are the cause of SNDI (infantile striatonigral degeneration), aka infantile bilateral striatal necrosis (IBSN) or familial striatal degeneration.

      STMN2 is a neuronal growth-associated protein which shares a majority of its amino acid sequence with the phosphoprotein stathmin. STMN2 is involved in neuronal differentiation and in modulating membrane interaction with the cytoskeleton through neurite outgrowth.     • Introduction

      Retinitis pigmentosa 9 (RP9) is assumed to be a target protein for the PIM1 kinase. The RP9 protein may have some roles in B-cell proliferation in association with PIM1. RP9 can be bound and phosphorylated by the protooncogene PIM1 product, a serine/threonine protein kinase. RP9 localizes in nuclear speckles containing the splicing factors, and has a part in pre-mRNA splicing. RP9 gene mutations result in autosomal dominant retinitis pigmentosa-9.

      Ribosomal protein S2, (RPS2) is a member of the S5P familyof ribosomal proteins. Ribosomes, the organelles which catalyze protein synthesis, consist of a small 40S subunit and a large 60S subunit.
