Furthermore, QPCT is partial against acidic and tryptophan residues adjacent to the N-terminal glutaminyl residue and a lack of importance of chain length following the second residue. QPCT catalyzes N-terminal pyroglutamate formation, also in vitro, it catalyzes pyroglutamate formation of N-terminally truncated form of APP amyloid-beta peptides [Glu-3]-beta-amyloid.

Introduction
Ribosomes, the organelles which catalyze protein synthesis, contain a small 40S subunit and a large 60S subunit. Together these subunits are composed of 4 RNA species and nearly 80 structurally distinct proteins. This gene encodes a ribosomal phosphoprotein which is a component of the 60S subunit. The protein, which is a functional equivalent of the E. coli L7/L12 ribosomal protein, is a member of the L12P family of ribosomal proteins and has a vital part in the elongation step of protein synthesis. In opposed to most ribosomal proteins, which are basic, the encoded protein is acidic.The P1 C-terminal end is nearly identical to the C-terminal ends of the ribosomal phosphoproteins P0 and P2. The P1 protein can interact with P0 and P2 to form a pentameric complex consisting of P1 and P2 dimers, and a P0 monomer. P1 is located in the cytoplasm. Two alternatively spliced transcript variants which encode varies proteins have been detected. As is typical for genes encoding ribosomal proteins, there are multiple processed pseudogenes of this gene distributed all over the genome.

NDRG1 is a cytoplasmic protein that is involved in stress responses, hormone responses, cell growth, and differentiation. NDRG1 is one of 4 members of the NDRG ?/?-hydrolase family. NDRG1 is classified in databases as a tumor suppressor and heavy metal-response protein. NDRG1’s functions include cell-cycle regulation, cellular differentiation, apoptosis, hypoxia response and metal-ion sensing. NDRG1 is also essential for p53-mediated caspase activation and apoptosis. The NDRG1 is a Rab4a effector that is involved in vesicular recycling of E-cadherin. NDRG1 is ubiquitous; it is expressed most notably in placental membranes and prostate, kidney, small intestine, and ovary tissues. NDRG1 has reduced expression in adenocarcinomas compared to normal tissues.
NDRG1 gene mutations are reported to be the cause for hereditary motor and sensory neuropathy-Lom (HMSNL), which is a severe autosomal recessive form of Charcot- Marie-Tooth (CMT) disease. Arylsulfatase G (ARSG) is a member of the sulfatase enzyme family. Sulfatases are enzymes which hydrolyze sulfate esters from sulfated steroids, carbohydrates, proteoglycans, and glycolipids. Sulfatases are involved in hormone biosynthesis, modulation of cell signaling, and degradation of macromolecules. The ARSG protein exhibits arylsulfatase activity at acidic pH, as is characteristic of lysosomal sulfatases. The Arylsulfatase G enzyme localizes in the lysosomes.
