      Midkine (MK) is the product of a retinoic acid responsive gene. It contains 121 amino acid residues including 10 conserved cysteine residues, all of which appear to be disulphide linked.
      Midkine is expressed during embryogenesis, showing an expression pattern that suggests functions in neurogenesis, cell migration, secondary organogenetic induction, and mesoderm-epithelial interaction.
      The widespread downregulation of MK in the adult human is reverted in a number of cancers, in which polypeptides are able to act as both transforming growth factors and promoters of angiogenesis.
      Midkine (MK), induces chemotaxis of human neutrophils and was found to trigger mobilization of intracellular calcium of these cells.
      Midkine induces histamine release from rat peritoneal mast cells with a rapid response in a dose dependent manner.
      Midkine is also a potent stimulator of collagen and glycosaminoglycan synthesis.

      Mouse Lungkine/CXCL15 (WECHE) belongs to the ELR motif-containing CXC chemokines. The mouse Lungkine gene has been mapped to chromosome 5. The cDNA of mouse Lungkine encodes a 166 amino acids (aa) protein with a 25 aa predicted signal peptide and a 141 aa mature protein with an exceptionally long C-terminal tail which extends beyond beyond the chemokine fold.     Porcine enteropeptidase is a specific protease which cleaves after the lysine at its recognition site: Asp-Asp-Asp-Asp-Lys. Enterokinase will not cleave a site followed by proline. Theoretical Mw is 21,880 Dalton, the apparent Mw on SDS-PAGE is about 40 kDa.If a fusion tag is located in the N-terminus with an enterokinase site, enterokinase will be able to remove the fusion tag and to generate the protein exactly as you need without adding any unwanted residues. It is produced by cells in the duodenum wall, and is secreted from duodenum's glands, the crypts of Lieberk?hn, whenever ingested food enters the duodenum from the stomach. Enteropeptidase has the critical job of turning trypsinogen(a zymogen) to trypsin, indirectly activating a number of pancreaticdigestive enzymes.
