DnaJB2 is a member of the DnaJ family. The DnaJ family is one of the largest of all the chaperone families which has evolved with diverse cellular localization and functions. DnaJB2 are important mediators of proteolysis which are involved in the regulation of protein degradation, exocytosis and endocytosis. The DnaJ proteins play a significant role in the HSP70 chaperone machine by interacting with HSP70 to stimulate ATP hydrolysis. DnaJB2 is expressed almost solely in the brain, with the highest levels in the frontal cortex and hippocampus.

HSPB8 is part of the superfamily of small heat-shock proteins containing a conservative alpha-crystallin domain at the C-terminal part of the molecule. HSPB8 is induced by estrogen in estrogen receptor-positive breast cancer cells. HSPB8 protein functions as a chaperone in association with BAG3, a stimulator of macroautophagy. HSPB8 participates in the regulation of cell proliferation, apoptosis, and carcinogenesis. Mutations in HSPB8 gene have been related with different neuromuscular diseases, including Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease.

Galectin-2 or LGALS2 is a protein, part of the galectin proteins family. The galectin proteins family holds galectin proteins family lectins that mediates adhesion between cells or cells to ECM. This family also take part in pre-mRNA splicing, apoptosis & tumor progression. Galectin-2 induces apoptosis in T cells that are activated & binds to lymphotoxin-a, also can implicatate on myocardial infarction. LGALS2 from human and mouse share about 65% amino acid sequence resemblance.

Hepatitis A Virus Cellular Receptor 2 (HAVCR2) is a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily. HACVR2 controls macrophage activation. HACVR2 inhibits T-helper type 1 lymphocyte (Th1)-mediated auto- and alloimmune responses and stimulates immunological tolerance.

HSPA8 is part of the heat shock protein 70 family which includes both heat-inducible and constitutively expressed proteins (heat-shock cognate proteins). HSPA8 is a heat-shock cognate protein that binds to nascent polypeptides to facilitate correct folding. HSPA8 plays a role as an ATPase in the disassembly of clathrin-coated vesicles through transport of membrane components through the cell. HSPA8 is expressed in colon cancer cells, HSPA8 takes part in reovirus outer capsid disassembly, through membrane penetration, to plan the entering particle for gene expression and replication. serum HSPA8 concentrations are reduced in normal human pregnancy. HSPA8 plays a role in androgen action on dermal papilla cells. HSPA8 is directly linked with Influenza virus matrix protein 1 and thus required for viral production.

Heat Shock Protein B9 (HSPB9) is a member of the small heat shock protein (HSP20) family. HSPB9 is found in the cytoplasm as well as in the nucleus. HSPB9 is expressed specifically in the testis.

Hsp70-binding protein 1 (HSPBP1) is a member of a family of eukaryotic proteins identified as nucleotide exchange factors for HSP 70 that exhibit varying degrees of compartment and species specificity. HSPBP1 is localized mainly in cytoplasm and nucleus but is also found extracellularly. HSPBP1 is mostly expressed in heart and skeletal muscle .HSPBP1 binds to HSP 70, inhibits its activity and promotes dissociation of nucleotides from the HSP 70 ATPase domain. In addition, HSPBP1 inhibits HSPA1A chaperone activity by changing the conformation of the ATP-binding domain of HSPA1A and obstructing the ATP binding. HSPBP1 may also have a role in tumor (dys)regulation of chaperone proteins. Furthermore, HSPBP1 hinders ubiquitination mediated by STUB1 and inhibits chaperone-assisted degradation of immature CFTR.

Cathepsin D is synthesized as a 54kDa precursor, which is proteolytically processed to an intermediate 48kDa single chain, which matures into more stable 34kDa and 14kDa two chain form. It is an estrogen-regulated lysosomal protease that has been suggested to facilitate cancer cell migration and invasion by digesting the basement membrane, extracellular matrix, and xonnective tissue. Galectin 3, or LGALS3, is a protein which belongs to the animal lectins family, that binds betagalactoside residues selectively. LGALS3 is originated and leaves cells through ectocytosis. The protein is capable of inhibition apoptosis and the development of cancer. Galectin 3 is found in epithelial tissues in organisms, it can be located in dendritic cells, Kupffer cells, macrophages etc. LGALS3 levels elevated when inflammation is generating, cell proliferation, trans-activation by viral proteins and cell differentiation.

The end result is a reduction in the ability of the infected host to mount an adequate immune response to invading organisms that require a predominantly Th2 dependant response (these include parasitic infections and production of mucosal and humoral antibodies).

SEMG1 is the predominant protein in semen. The secreted protein takes part in the formation of a gel matrix which encases ejaculated spermatozoa. The prostate-specific antigen (PSA) protease processes SEMG1 into smaller peptides, with each possibly having a separate function. Zinc Finger HIT-Type Containing 1 (ZNHIT1) is a member of the ZNHIT1 family and contains 1 HIT-type zinc finger. The ZNHIT1 protein is induced by DNA damage and appears to have a role in p53-mediated apoptosis induction. ZNHIT1 interacts with MAPK11 and MAPK14 and is a component of the chromatin-remodeling SRCAP complex composed of at least SRCAP, DMAP1, RUVBL1, RUVBL2, ACTL6A, YEATS4, ACTR6 and ZNHIT1. ZNHIT1 binds to NR1D2 and discharges it of its inhibitory effect on the transcription of APOC3 without affecting its DNA-binding activity.

C8, a component of the complement system consists of three polypeptides C8A, C8B and C8G and takes part in the formation of Membrane Attack Complex (MAC). Patients with C8 deficiency are exposed to several bacteria infections. C8G, a member of the lipocalin family and calycin superfamily, is a secreted protein that can bind retinol. C8G is created in the liver, monocytes and fibroblast and has a role in clearing pathogens from an infected host.

The galectins are a family of beta-galactoside-binding proteins implicated in modulating cell-cell and cell-matrix interactions. Galectin-1 is an autocrine negative growth factor that regulates cell proliferation. Galectin-1 regulates cell apoptosis and cell differentiation. Galectin-1 binds CD45, CD3 and CD4 & inhibits CD45 protein phosphatase activity and therefore the dephosphorylation of lyn kinase. Galectin-1 and its ligands are one of the master regulators of immune responses as T-cell homeostasis and survival, T-cell immune disorders, inflammation and allergies as well as host–pathogen interactions. Galectin-1 expression or overexpression in tumors and/or the tissue surrounding them must be considered as a sign of the malignant tumor progression that is often related to the long-range dissemination of tumoral cells (metastasis), to their dissemination into the surrounding normal tissue, and to tumor immune-escape. Galectin-1 in its oxidized form plays a number of important roles in the regeneration of the central nervous system after injury. The targeted overexpression (or delivery) of Galectin-1 should be considered as a method of choice for the treatment of some kinds of inflammation-related diseases, neurodegenerative pathologies and muscular dystrophies. In contrast, the targeted inhibition of Galectin-1 expression is what should be developed for therapeutic applications against cancer progression. Galectin-1 is thus a promising molecular target for the development of new and original therapeutic tools. There is 88% homology between the human and mouse galectin-1.

Peptidase Inhibitor 16 (PI16) which a member of the CRISP family, is a putative serine protease inhibitor. PI16 interacts with PSP94/MSMB. PI16 is expressed in the prostate, testis, ovary and intestine. It also concentrates in prostate cancer patient's sera. PI16 may serve as a marker following prostatectomy for prostate cancer.
