Ribosomes are the organelles which catalyze protein synthesis, they’re comprised of a small 40S subunit and a large 60S subunit. Ribosomal Protein L11 (RPL11) is a member of the L5P family of ribosomal proteins. RPL11 is a ribosomal protein which is a component of the 60S subunit. RPL11 is found in the cytoplasm. The RPL11 protein most likely associates with the 5S rRNA.

Toll-interleukin1 receptor (TIR) domain containing adaptor protein (TIRAP) contains 1 TIR domain. TIRAP is an adapter molecule linked with toll-like receptors. TIRAP is required in TLR2 and TLR4 signaling pathways in the innate immune response. NK3 Homeobox1 (NKX3-1) is a homeobox-containing transcription factor, which binds preferentially the consensus sequence 5'-TAAGT[AG]-3' and may act as a transcriptional repressor. The NKX3-1 transcription factor functions as a negative regulator of epithelial cell growth in prostate tissue. NKX3-1 has an imperative role in normal prostate development, regulating proliferation of glandular epithelium and in the formation of ducts in prostate. FADD is an adaptor protein that cooperates with a variety of cell surface receptors and mediates cell apoptotic signals. Opticin also known as OPTC is a member of the class III of the small leucine-rich repeat protein (SLRP) family. Members of this family are usually linked with the extracellular matrix. SNCA or Alpha-synuclein is a protein with undisclosed function that mainly concentrated in the brain tissue, mainly in the tips of the neurons in the presynaptic terminals. Almost 1% of the proteins in the brain tissues are synucleins. The protein is located mainly in the hippocampus, thalamus, cerebellum & neocortex. Smaller amounts of the SNCA protein can be found in the neuroglial cells. The MITF protein regulates the SNCA expression in melanocytic cells.

Cell Adhesion Molecule 1, also known as CADM1 belongs to the nectin family. Actin Filament Associated Protein 1 (AFAP1) is a Src binding partner. Once ingested by an proper tick, gametes unite and undergo a sporogonic cycle resulting in sporozoites. Transovarial transmission (aka vertical or hereditary transmission) has been detected for "large" Babesia species but not for the "small" Babesia, such as B. microti. Humans enter the cycle when bitten by the infected ticks. Thus during a blood meal, a Babesia-infected tick introduces sporozoites into the human host. Sporozoites then enter erythrocytes and undergo asexual replication (budding). Multiplication of the blood-stage parasites is responsible for the clinical manifestations of the disease. Humans typically are dead-end hosts. However, human-to-human transmission is well acknowledged to occur via contaminated blood transfusions.
