43 kDa receptor-associated protein of the synapse (RAPSN), is expressed in the postsynaptic membrane of skeletal muscle. RAPSN is essential for the clustering of nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChR). In addition RAPSN self-associates via at least two of its seven tetra-tricopeptide repeats (TPRs). RAPSN interacts with the large intracellular domain of the nAChR a subunit all the way through the hydrophobic surface of the coiled-coil domain. RAPSN modifies trafficking of AChR within the cell. Overexpression inhibits agrin-induced AChR clustering pathway. RAPSN also plays a role in postsynaptic congenital myasthenic syndromes.

Smac/Diablo is a proapoptotic protein that increases caspase activation in the cytochrome c/Apaf-1/caspase-9 pathway by its binding to the inhibitor of apoptosis proteins (IAPs) and removing their inhibitory activity. Smac/Diablo is a mitochondrial protein which enters the cytosol when cells go through apoptosis, and it moderates the caspase inhibition of IAPs.

Oncostatin M is a member of a cytokine family that includes leukemia-inhibitory factor, granulocyte colony-stimulating factor, and interleukin 6. This gene encodes a growth regulator which inhibits the proliferation of a number of tumor cell lines. It regulates cytokine production, including IL-6, G-CSF and GM-CSF from endothelial cells.

REM2 and RAB-Like Small GTPase 1 (RSG1) plays a part in targeted membrane trafficking most likely at the level of vesicle fusion with membranes. The RSG1 protein is involved in cilium biogenesis by regulating the transportation of cargo proteins to the basal body and to the apical tips of cilia. Norrie Disease (NDP) is a secreted regulatory protein which activates the canonical Wnt signaling pathway through FZD4 and LRP5 coreceptor. NDP takes part in retinal vascularization by acting as a ligand for FZD4 which signals through stabilizing beta-catenin (CTNNB1) and activating LEF/TCF-mediated transcriptional programs. NDP is involved in a pathway that regulates neural cell differentiation and proliferation and also in neuroectodermal cell-cell interaction.

Fibronectin Leucine Rich Transmembrane Protein 3, also known as FLRT3 is a member of the fibronectin leucine rich transmembrane protein (FLRT) family. FLRT3 contains one fibronectin type-III domain as well as 10 LRR (leucine-rich) repeats and is expressed in the kidney, brain, pancreas, skeletal muscle, lung, liver, placenta, and heart. In addition, the members of the FLRT family play a role in cell adhesion as well as receptor signaling. FLRT3 has been implicated in neurite outgrowth after nerve damage, as a positive regulator of FGF signalling and in homotypic cell adhesion. Furthermore, FLRT3 has an essential function in regulating cellular adhesion among the epithelial apical ridge and the underlying mesenchyme and also in the establishment of the dorso-ventral position of the ridge.

Cytokeratin 5 (KRT5) belongs to the keratin gene family. The type II cytokeratins are comprised of basic or neutral proteins which are arranged in pairs of heterotypic keratin chains coexpressed throughout differentiation of simple and stratified epithelial tissues. The type II cytokeratins are clustered in a region of chromosome 12q12-q13. The KRT5 type II cytokeratin is specifically expressed in the basal layer of the epidermis with family member KRT14. Mutations in these genes are linked with a complex of diseases termed epidermolysis bullosa simplex.

The 52 kDa Ro protein is part of the RoSSA ribonucleoprotein, which includes a single polypeptide and one of four small RNA molecules. The RoSSA particle localizes to both the cytoplasm and the nucleus. Ro/SSA interacts with autoantigens in patients with Sjogren syndrome and systemic lupus erythematosus. PTB domain-containing engulfment adapter protein 1 (GULP1) is an evolutionarily conserved adaptor protein essential for efficient phagocytosis of apoptotic cells by phagocytes. Furthermore, GULP1 helps modulate cellular glycosphingolipid and cholesterol transport. Rab6 is a main regulator in the retrograde transfer from endosomes via the Golgi to the ER and may act in retrograde tansport in neuronal cells.

Proteoglycans stored in the secretory granules of various hematopoietic cells also hold a protease-resistant peptide core, and is vital for neutralizing hydrolytic enzymes. SRGN is related to the macromolecular complex of granzymes and perforin that acts as a intermediary of granule-mediated apoptosis.
