SF3B14 is a 125 amino acid nuclear protein which is a component of the splicing factor 3b complex. Splicing factor 3b is involved with s with both the U2 and U11/U12 small nuclear ribonucleoprotein complexes (U2 snRNP) of spliceosomes. SF3B14 which is required for the splicing of pre-mRNA enters the spliceosome and connect with the pre-mRNA branch site facilitating the interaction of snRNP with the branch sites of U2 and U12 of the 17S U2 and the 18S U11/U12 snRNP complex.

Nectin-1, also referred to as ED4, is a poliovirus receptor- related 1 protein is a part of the Nectin family. Nectin-1 endorses cell-cell contacts by forming homophilic or heterophilic trans-dimers. Heterophilic interactions among PVRL1/nectin-1 & PVRL4/nectin-4 and among PVRL1/nectin-1 & PVRL3/nectin-3 have been found. Nectin-1 acts as an entry receptor for herpes simplex virus & pseudorabies virus as well. Likewise, Neurite outgrowth-promoting activity has been shown by Nectin-1.

SMCP is a protein-coding gene. SMCP localizes to the capsule linked with the mitochondrial outer membranes and assumed to function in the organization and stabilization of the helical structure of the sperm's mitochondrial sheath. Sperm mitochondria vary in morphology and subcellular localization from those of somatic cells. They are elongated, flattened, and arranged circumferentially construct a helical coiled sheath in the midpiece of the sperm flagellum. ATPaseTransporting Beta 3 (ATP1B3) is a member of the X(+)/potassium ATPases subunit beta family. ATP1B3 is the non-catalytic component of the active enzyme, which catalyzes the hydrolysis of ATP coupled with the exchange of Na+ and K+ ions across the plasma membrane. The beta subunit controls, by way of assembly of alpha/beta heterodimers, the quantity of sodium pumps transported to the plasma membrane. The precise role of the beta-3 subunit is unknown.

Oncostatin M is a member of a cytokine family that includes leukemia-inhibitory factor, granulocyte colony-stimulating factor, and interleukin 6. Four and a half LIM domains 3 (FHL3) belongs to a family of proteins containing a four-and-a-half LIM domain, which is a highly conserved double zinc finger motif. FHL3 has been shown to interact with the cancer developmental regulators SMAD2, SMAD3, and SMAD4, the skeletal muscle myogenesis protein MyoD, and the high-affinity IgE beta chain regulator MZF-1. FHL3 is involved in tumor suppression, repression of MyoD expression, and repression of IgE receptor expression. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.

TIMP1 is a member of the TIMP family. TIMP1 is an inducible glycoprotein produced by various cell types. The TIMP1 glycoprotein is a natural inhibitor of the matrix metalloproteinases, which a group of peptidases involved in degradation of the extracellular matrix. TIMP1 binds in a reversible mode to MMPs, with regions in the N-terminal domain binding to the MMP substrate-binding site. On top of its inhibitory function against most of the known MMPs, TIMP1 is able to promote cell proliferation in a broad range of cell types, and may also have an anti-apoptotic role. Furthermore, TIMP1 has erthyroid-potentiating activity via translocation to the nucleus and also inhibits apoptosis in B-cells.

TPI1 is one of the triosephosphate isomerase family. TPI1 catalyzes the isomerization of glyceraldehydes 3-phosphate (G3P) and dihydroxy-acetone phosphate (DHAP) in glycolysis and gluconeogenesis. Mutations in TPI1 causes triosephosphate isomerase deficiency (TPI deficiency). TPI deficiency is an autosomal recessive disorder which is the most severe clinical disorder of glycolysis and is related to neonatal jaundice, chronic hemolytic anemia, progressive neuromuscular dysfunction, cardiomyopathy and increased susceptibility to infection.

EFNA3 belongs to the ephrin (EPH) family. The ephrins and EPH-related receptors include thelargest subfamily of receptor protein-tyrosine kinases which have been implicated in mediating developmental events, especially in the nervous system and in erythropoiesis. Ephrins are divided into the ephrin-A (EFNA) class and the ephrin-B (EFNB) class, based on their structures and sequence relationships.
