Small VCP/p97-interacting protein (SVIP) is involved in various cellular processes, including membrane fusion and ubiquitin-dependent protein degradation. SVIP functions as an inhibitor of the endoplasmic reticulum (ER)-associated degradation (ERAD) pathway. On the other hand, SVIP overexpression increased the levels of p62 protein and enhanced starvation-activated autophagy as well as stimulated sequestration of polyubiquitinated proteins and p62 in autophagosomes.

Proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA), a protein of 30 kDa molecular weight also known as cyclin, forms a trimer ring around a DNA double-helix. It binds to a variety of other nuclear proteins and thereby organises biochemical processes at the DNA replication fork. PCNA thereby assumes important functions in DNA synthesis, repair and processing, the regulation of cell cycle and even apoptosis.

Interleukin-18 Binding Protein (IL18BP) serves as an inhibitor of the proinflammatory cytokine, IL18. GCA is a member of the penta EF-hand (PEF) subfamily of EF-hand proteins, who also comprises calpain, sorcin, peflin, and ALG-2. Twinfilin (TWF1) is a ubiquitous actin-monomer-binding protein which is composed of two ADF-homology domains. Twinfilin forms a 1:1 complex with ADP-actin-monomers, prevents nucleotide exchange on actin monomers and blocks assembly of the monomer into filaments. TWF1 is composed of 2 ADF/cofilin-like (ADF-H) domains joined by a short linker region and followed by a C-terminal tail of approximately 20 residues. Glutathione S-transferase omega 2 (GSTO2) is a member of the GST superfamily. GSTO2 is involved in catalyzing the reaction of glutathione with a broad range of organic compounds to form thioethers, a process which is vital for the metabolism and detoxification of a variety of xenobiotics and carcinogens. GSTO2 displays glutathione-dependent thiol transferase activity. GSTO2 has a high dehydroascorbate reductase activity and may be a factor in the recycling of ascorbic acid. GSTO2 also participates in the biotransformation of inorganic arsenic and reduces monomethylarsonic acid (MMA). Binding stimulates osteoblasts to increase their expression of RANKL, which can bind to osteoclast precursors containing RANK, a receptor for RANKL. The binding of RANKL to RANK stimulates these precursors to fuse, forming new osteoclasts which ultimately enhances the resorption of bone.
In the kidney- It enhances active reabsorption of calcium from distal tubules and the thick ascending limb.
In the intestine- It enhances the absorption of calcium in the intestine by increasing the production of vitamin D and upregulating the enzyme responsible for 1-alpha hydroxylationof 25-hydroxy vitamin D, converting vitamin D to its active form (1,25-dihydroxy vitamin D) which effects the actual absorption of calcium (as Ca2+ ions) by the intestine via calbindin.

E2 17-beta-dehydrogenase 8 (HSD17B8) is a member of the short-chain dehydrogenases/reductases (SDR) family. In mice, the HSD17B8 protein is a 17-beta-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase which can regulate the concentration of biologically active estrogens and androgens. HSD17B8 is preferentially an oxidative enzyme and inactivates E2, testosterone, and DHT. However, the HSD17B8 enzyme has some reductive activity and can synthesize E2 from E1. HSD17B8 may have a role in biosynthesis of fatty acids in mitochondria.
