PDIA4 is an endoplasmic reticulum luminal protein that is a stress protein as well as a member of the protein disulfide isomerase family of proteins. PDIA4 participates in the catalysis of protein-S-S-bond rearrangement. PDIA4 and PDIA3 function as proteases, protein disulfide isomerases, phospholipases or an arrangement of these.

Peptidase Inhibitor 3, also referred to PI3, is neutrophil and pancreatic elastase-specific inhibitor of skin. The protein may prevent elastase mediated tissue proteolysis. PI3 has shown inhibition of alpha-4-beta-2/CHRNA2-CHRNB2 nicotinic acetylcholine receptor, a weak inhibition on Kv11.1/KCNH2/ERG1 and on the transient receptor potential cation channel subfamily V member 1.

KLF3 belongs to the Sp1-like/KLF family. KLFs is a family of evolutionarily conserved zinc finger-having transcription factors with various regulatory purposes in cell growth, embryogenesis, proliferation and differentiation. KLF3 is Kruppel-like zinc finger which contain transcription factors and take part in hematopoiesis.

NADH Dehydrogenase1 Alpha Subcomplex 4 (NDUFA4) is a member of the complex I 9kDa subunit family. Mammalian complex I of mitochondrial respiratory chain is comprised of 45 different subunits. NDUFA4 protein has NADH dehydrogenase activity and oxidoreductase activity. NDUFA4 transfers electrons from NADH to the respiratory chain. The immediate electron acceptor for the NDUFA4 enzyme is assumed to be ubiquinone.

Phosphatidylinositol transfer protein alpha (PITPNA) is found in the cytoplasm, where it catalyzes the transfer of phosphatidylinositol (PI) and phosphatidylcholine (PC) between membranes. PITPNA belongs to a family of lipid-binding proteins which transfer molecules of phosphatidylinositol or phosphatidylcholine between membrane surfaces. PITPNA is implicated in phospholipase C signaling and in the production of phosphatidylinositol 3, 4, 5-trisphosphate (PIP3) by phosphoinositide-3-kinase.

Pirin (PIR) which belongs to the cupin superfamily, is an Fe(II)-containing nuclear protein expressed in all tissues of the body and concentrated within dot-like subnuclear structures. Pirin may function as a transcriptional cofactor and is involved in the regulation of DNA transcription and replication, as a result of interactions with nuclear factor I/CCAAT box transcription factor as well as B cell lymphoma 3-encoded oncoprotein.

Phosphatidylinositol-5-Phosphate 4-Kinase, Type II, Beta (PIP4K2B) belongs to the phosphatidylinositol-4-phosphate 5-kinase family.PIP4K2B catalyzes the phosphorylation of phosphatidylinositol-4-phosphate on the 5th hydroxyl of the myo-inositol ring to form phosphatidylinositol-4,5-bisphosphate. PIP4K2B amino acid sequence does not show resemblance to another kinases although PIP4K2B presents kinase activity.PIP4K2B also interacts with p55 TNF receptor.

MAX Dimerization Protein 3 (MXD3) belongs to the Myc superfamily of basic helix-loop-helix leucine zipper transcriptional regulators. MXD3 forms a heterodimer with the cofactor MAX that connects specific E-box DNA motifs in the promoters of target genes and regulates their transcription. Disturbance of the MAX-MXD3 complex is correlated with uncontrolled cell proliferation and tumorigenesis. Transcript variants of MXD3 encoding different isoforms have been described.

S100A9 is part of the S100 family of proteins containing 2 EF-hand calcium-binding motifs. S100A9 protein is localized in the cytoplasm and/or nucleus of a wide range of cells, and participates in the regulation of several cellular processes such as cell cycle progression and differentiation. S100 genes include no less than 13 proteins which are localized as a cluster on chromosome 1q21. S100A9 is involved in the inhibition of casein kinase and altered expression of this protein is associated with the disease cystic fibrosis.

Nicotinamide riboside kinase 2 (ITGB1BP3) is a member of the uridine kinase family and NRK subfamily. ITGB1BP3 catalyzes the phosphorylation of nicotinic acid riboside and nicotinamide riboside to create nicotinic acid mononucleotide and nicotinamide mononucleotide. ITGB1BP3 reduces laminin matrix deposition and cell adhesion to laminin, but not to fibronectin. ITGB1BP3 is involved in the regulation of PXN at the protein level and of PXN tyrosine phosphorylation. ITGB1BP3 also has a role in the regulation of terminal myogenesis.

The expression of KCTD5 is up regulated post-transcriptionally in peripheral blood lymphocytes stimulated via the T-cell receptor. KCTD5 interacts particularly with cullin3, attaches ubiquitinated proteins, and created oligomers through its BTB domain.

Transcription factor MafG (MAFG) is a member of the Maf family. Given that they lack a putative transactivation domain, the small Mafs act as transcriptional repressors when they dimerize amongst themselves. PINX1 is a common expressed protein that localizes to nucleoli and telomere speckles. PINX1 contains a Telomerase Inhibiting Domain that is caable of binding MCRS1, TERT and TERF1. PINX1 has been shown to be a potent telomerase inhibitor and putative tumor suppressor. Fibroblast growth factor 20 (FGF20) belongs to the FGF gene family and member of FGF-9 subfamily (based upon its structure). Human FGF20 has several receptors which include FGF R1c, FGF R2c, FGF R3b, FGF R3c and FGF R4. FGF20 is expressed a various cells, including dopaminergic neurons, fibroblasts, keratinocytes and breast epithelium, and numerous sites in the fetus.

43 kDa receptor-associated protein of the synapse (RAPSN), is expressed in the postsynaptic membrane of skeletal muscle. RAPSN is essential for the clustering of nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChR). In addition RAPSN self-associates via at least two of its seven tetra-tricopeptide repeats (TPRs). RAPSN interacts with the large intracellular domain of the nAChR a subunit all the way through the hydrophobic surface of the coiled-coil domain. RAPSN modifies trafficking of AChR within the cell. Overexpression inhibits agrin-induced AChR clustering pathway. RAPSN also plays a role in postsynaptic congenital myasthenic syndromes.

The cytokine Macrophage migration inhibitory factor (MIF) has been identified to be secreted by the pituitary gland and the monocyte/macrophage and to play an important role in endotoxic shock. MIF has the unique property of being released from macrophages and T cells in response to physiological concentrations of glucocorticoids. The secretion of MIF is tightly regulated and decreases at high, anti-inflammatory steroid concentration.
