Introduction
Caspase 3 Apoptosis-Related Cysteine Peptidase (CASP3) belongs to the cysteine-aspartic acid protease (caspase) family. Sequential activation of caspases plays a key role in the execution-phase of cell apoptosis. Caspases exist as inactive proenzymes which undergo proteolytic processing at conserved aspartic residues to generate 2 subunits, large and small, that dimerize to create the active enzyme. CASP3 protein cleaves and activates caspases 6, 7 and 9, and the protein itself is processed by caspases 8, 9 and 10. CASP3 is the leading caspase involved in the cleavage of amyloid-beta 4A precursor protein, which is linked with neuronal death in Alzheimer's disease. In addition, CASP3 is involved in the cleavage of huntingtin. CASP3 also cleaves and activates sterol regulatory element binding proteins (SREBPs) between the basic helix-loop-helix leucine zipper domain and the membrane attachment domain. CASP3 initiates cell adhesion in sympathetic neurons through RET cleavage.

Introduction
Smac/Diablo is a proapoptotic protein that increases caspase activation in the cytochrome c/Apaf-1/caspase-9 pathway by its binding to the inhibitor of apoptosis proteins (IAPs) and removing their inhibitory activity. Smac/Diablo is a mitochondrial protein which enters the cytosol when cells go through apoptosis, and it moderates the caspase inhibition of IAPs.
Smac/DIABLO expression is associated with the result of renal cell carcinoma.
Dimeric form of Smac/DIABLO implies that once expressed in the cell the protein has a little probability of dissociation and, thus, loss of function.
Survivin, Smac/DIABLO, & PKC-? play an important part in the inhibition of apoptosis by FGF-2 in human small cell lung cancer cells. Mitochondrial survivin associates with Smac/DIABLO, delaying its release. Decreased expression of Smac protein takes part in ovarian carcinogenesis and chemotherapeutic resistance. Smac/DIABLO plays a role in tumor cells during the pathway of apoptosis induction. SMAC protein is regulated by XIAP and degraded by proteasome. SMAC protein takes part inleukemic cell apoptosis.
Smac is released during stress-induced apoptosis in multiple myeloma cells. -

Introduction
The Bcl-2 family of protein is characterized by its ability to modulate cell death under a broad range of physiologic conditions. Bcl-2 and several related proteins function to inhibit apoptosis while other members of the Bcl-2 family, such as Bax and Bak, enhance cell death under various conditions. Bad exhibits homology to Bcl-2 limited to the BH1, but not with Bax, Bcl-xS, Mcl-1, A1 or itself. In mammalian cells, Bad binds with greater affinity to Bcl-xL than to Bcl-2 and reverses the death repressor activity of Bcl-xL but not Bcl-2.

Introduction
RGS17 weakens the signaling activity of G-proteins by binding to activated GTP-bound G alpha subunits and performing as a GTPase activating protein (GAP), increasing the rate of conversion of the GTP to GDP. This hydrolysis allows the G alpha subunits to bind G beta/gamma subunit heterodimers, creating inactive G-protein heterotrimers, which terminates the signal. RGS17 has a vital part in ending the signaling by mu opioid receptors and development of tolerance to opioid analgesic drugs.

Introduction
Ataxin 3 is otherwise known as Machado-Joseph disease protein 1. Machado–Joseph disease is a hereditary autosomal dominant neurodegenerative disorder. ATXN3 contains trinucleotide CAG repeats in the coding region, and the expansion of these repeats from the normal 13-36 to 68-79 causes the Machado-Joseph disease. ATXN3 is a poly-ubiquitin-binding protein whose cellular turnover is regulated by its catalytic activity.
In addition, ATXN3 is a proteasome-associated factor which mediates the degradation of ubiquitinated proteins. ATXN3 folds reversibly using a single intermediate; partial destabilization of ATXN3 by chemical denaturation causes the formation of fibrillar aggregates by the non-pathological variant.
Ataxin-3 interacts with the major histone acetyltransferases cAMP-response-element binding protein (CREB)-binding protein, p300, and p300/CREB-binding protein-associated factor and hinders transcription by these coactivators. -

Introduction
Complement Component C5a (C5a) is involved in the complement system and it is encoded by the C5 gene in human. Complement C5 is cleaved into C5a and C5b. C5a has an imperative role in chemotaxis and C5b forms the 1st part of the complement membrane attack complex. Complement C5 is the 5th component of complement, which plays a central role in inflammatory and cell killing processes. C5a protein is composed of alpha and beta polypeptide chains, which are linked by a disulfide bridge. An activation peptide, C5a, which is an anaphylatoxin, which has potent spasmogenic and chemotactic activity, is derivative from the alpha polypeptide via cleavage with a convertase. The C5b macromolecular cleavage product forms a complex with the C6 complement component, and this complex is the basis for creation of the membrane attack complex, which includes supplementary complement components.

Introduction
S100A13 is a member of the S100 family of proteins containing 2 EF-hand calcium-binding motifs. S100 family members are localized in the cytoplasm and/or nucleus of a wide range of cells, and are involved in the regulation of a number of cellular processes such as cell cycle progression and differentiation. S100A13 is extensively expressed in various types of tissues with an elevated expression level in the thyroid gland. Introduction
Myosin regulatory light chain 5 (MYL5) is a hexameric ATPase cellular motor protein. Myosin is comprised of 2 heavy chains, 2 nonphosphorylatable alkali light chains, and 2 phosphorylatable regulatory light chains. MYL5 is a regulatory light chain and is expressed in the fetal muscle and in the adult retina, cerebellum, and basal ganglia. Introduction
SNURF is an extremely basic protein restricted to the nucleus. The evolutionarily reserved open reading frame is located on a bicistronic transcript which has a downstream ORF encoding the small nuclear ribonucleoprotein polypeptide N. The first three exons of the transcript are exploited by the upstream coding region which is known as an imprinting center. The full-length nature of these transcripts is yet to be determined but multiple transcription initiation sites have been identified and large scale alternative splicing takes place in the 5' untranslated region. An alternate exon which substitutes for exon 4 and leads to a truncated, monocistronic transcript was identified. Deletion or alternative splicing produced by a translocation event in the 5' UTR or coding region of this gene results in Prader-Willi syndrome or Angelman syndrome because of parental imprint switch failure.
