Lymphocyte Antigen 9, also known as LY9 is a member of the SLAM family of immunomodulatory receptors, LY9 interacts with the adaptor molecule SAP . LY9 plays a part in adhesion reactions between T lymphocytes and accessory cells via homophilic interaction. LY9 promotes T-cell differentiation into a helper T-cell Th17 phenotype which leads to increased IL-17 secretion; the costimulatory activity requires SH2D1A. Furthermore it also promotes recruitment of RORC to the IL-17 promoter. LY9 is implicated in the maintenance of peripheral cell tolerance through serving as a negative regulator of the immune response. LY9 disables autoantibody responses as well as inhibits IFN-gamma secretion by CD4(+) T-cells. Moreover, LY9 negatively regulate the size of thymic innate CD8(+) T-cells and the development of invariant natural killer T (iNKT) cells. Systemic Lupus Erythematosus is one of the diseases which are associated with LY9.

TRAIL Receptor-3, also known as TNFRSF10C belongs to theTNF-receptor super family. TNFRSF10C contains an extracellular TRAIL-binding domain as well as a transmembranedomain, however no cytoplasmic death domain. Furthermore, TNFRSF10C is not capable of inducing apoptosis, and is considered toact as an antagonistic receptor which protects cells from TRAIL-induced apoptosis.

CD86 type I membrane protein is a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily which is expressed by antigen-presenting cells, and acts as the ligand for two proteins at the cell surface of T cells, CD28 antigen and cytotoxic T-lymphocyte-associated protein 4. CD86 binding with CD28 protein is a co-stimulatory signal for initiation of the T-cell. CD86 binding with CTLA-4 negatively regulates T-cell activation and diminishes the immune response.

The human Lymphocyte Antigen 6 Complex Locus G6F (LY6G6F) protein is a type I transmembrane protein belonging to the immunoglobin (Ig) superfamily, which contains cell-surface proteins involved in the immune system and cellular recognition. The LY6G6F protein has a role in the downstream signal transduction pathways involving GRB2 and GRB7.

CD86, also known as B7-2 or Cluster of Differentiation 86 is a protein necessary for T cell activation and survival, it is expressed on cells that are antigen-presenting cells and acts as costimulatory signals for T cells. CD86 is the ligand for CD28 (for autoregulation and intercellular association) and CTLA-4 (for attenuation of regulation and cellular disassociation), two different proteins.

The extremely higher rate of acute alcohol intoxication with Orientals compared to Caucasians is due to the fact of the absence of mitochondrial isozyme. ALDH2 has a low Km for acetaldehydes, and is localized in mitochondrial matrix.
