EGF Domain-Specific O-Linked N-Acetylglucosamine Transferase (EOGT) takes part in the regulation of Notch receptor. EOGT catalyzes the transfer of a single N-acetylglucosamine from UDP-GlcNAc to a serine/ threonine residue in extracellular proteins resulting in their modification with a beta-linked N-acetylglucosamine (O-GlcNAc). EOGT mainly glycosylates the Thr residue positioned between the fifth and sixth conserved cysteines of folded EGF-like domains.

Signal-transducing adaptor protein 1 (STAP1) acts as a docking protein which operates downstream of Tec tyrosine kinase in B cell antigen receptor signaling. The STAP1 protein is directly phosphorylated by Tec in vitro where it partakes in a positive feedback loop, increasing Tec activity.

STEAP Family Member 4 (STEAP4) is a member of the STEAP (six transmembrane epithelial antigen of prostate) family, resides in the golgi apparatus. STEAP4 act as a metalloreductase which has the ability to reduce both Fe(3+) to Fe(2+) and Cu(2+) to Cu(1+),using NAD(+) as acceptor. According to studies in mice and human it is possible that STEAP4 may involve in adipocyte development and metabolism, and also contribute to the normal biology of the prostate cell.

EPHB4 or Ephrin type-B receptor 4 is encoded by the EPHB4 gene in humans. The receptor and its ligands (the ephrins) take part in different developmental stages, mainly in the nervous system. EPHB4 and other Ephrin receptors are the biggest subgroup of the RTK receptors. EPHB4 binds to ephrin B2 and has a crucial part in the development of the vascular system.

STIP1 is an adaptor protein that mediates the functions of HSP70 & HSP90 in protein folding. STIP1 supports the transfer of proteins from HSP70 to HSP90 by binding together HSP90 and substrate-bound HSP70. STIP1 stimulates the ATPase activity of HSP70 and inhibits the ATPase activity of HSP90, suggesting that it regulates both the conformations and ATPase cycles of these chaperones. STIP1 genetic variations are involved in regulating corticosteroid response in asthmatic subjects with reduced lung function.

STE20-Related Kinase Adaptor Alpha (STRADA) is a part of the STE- 20 like kinase family which stimulates MAPK pathways by activating MAPKKK. STRADA is an upstream activator of LKB1 and also leads the sub-cellular localization of LKB1 by fixing it in the cytoplasm. The interaction between STRADA-LKB1 leads to phosphorylation of STRADA and enhanced autophosphorylation of LKB1.

Interleukin-22 (IL-22), also known as IL-10-related T cell-derived inducible factor (IL-TIF) was initially identified as a gene induced by IL-9 in mouse T cells and mast cells. Mouse IL-22 cDNA encodes a 179 amino acid residue protein with a putative 33 amino acids signal peptide that is cleaved to generate a 147 aa mature protein that shares approximately 79% and 22% aa sequence identity with human IL-22 and IL-10, respectively. IL-22 has been shown to activate STAT-1 and STAT-3 in several hepatoma cell lines and upregulate the production of acute phase proteins. IL-22 is produced by normal mouse T cells upon Con A activation. Mouse IL-22 expression is also induced in various organs upon lipopolysaccharide injection, suggesting that IL-22 may be involved in inflammatory responses. The functional IL-22 receptor complex consists of two receptor subunits, IL-22R (previously an orphan receptor named CRF2-9) and IL-10R? (previously known as CRF2-4), belonging to the class II cytokine receptor family.

Chemokine (C-C motif) ligand 21 (CCL21) is a small cytokine belonging to the CC chemokine family. This chemokine is also known as 6Ckine (because it has six conserved cysteine residues instead of the four cysteines typical to chemokines), exodus-2, and secondary lymphoid-tissue chemokine (SLC). CCL21 is expressed predominantly in the lymph nodes and, in contrast to other CC chemokines, is chemotactic for lymphocytes. The gene for CCL21 is located on human chromosome 9. BTLA is a type 1 transmembrane glycoprotein in the CD28 family of T cell costimulatory molecules. BTLA is a 3rd inhibitory receptor on T lymphocytes with resemblances to CTLA-4 & PD-1. Variation in ferritin subunit composition influence the rates of iron uptake and release in various tissues. A key function of ferritin is the storage of iron in a soluble and nontoxic state. Defects in this light chain ferritin gene are associated with several neurodegenerative diseases and hyper ferrit anemia-cataract syndrome.

PFN2 is a ubiquitous actin monomer-binding protein which is part of the profilin family. PFN2 regulates actin polymerization in response to extra cellular signals. PFN2 binds to actin and affects the structure of the cytoskeleton. At high concentrations, profilin prevents the polymerization of actin, while it increases it at low concentrations. PFN2 binds to PIP2, it inhibits the formation of IP3 and DG.

Caspase Recruitment Domain Family, Member 17 (CARD17) is a regulator of procaspase-1/CASP1 activation involved in the regulation of the proteolytic maturation of pro-IL-1beta/IL1B and its release throughout inflammation. CARD17 inhibits the release of IL1B in reaction to LPS in monocytes. Though, unlike CASP1, CARD17 do not induce NF-kappa-B activation.
