PDGF-BB is a member of the platelet-derived growth factor family. The four members of this family are mitogenic factors for cells of mesenchymal origin and are characterized by a motif of eight cysteines. This gene product can exist either as a homodimer (PDGF-BB) or as a heterodimer with the platelet-derived growth factor alpha polypeptide (PDGF-AB), where the dimers are connected by disulfide bonds. Mutations in this gene are associated with meningioma. Reciprocal translocations between chromosomes 22 and 7, at sites where this gene and that for COL1A1 are located, are associated with a particular type of skin tumor called dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans resulting from unregulated expression of growth factor. Two splice variants have been identified for this gene.

Streptavidin is a tetrameric protein secreted by Streptomyces avidinii which binds firmly to biotin. Streptavidin is widely used in molecular biology through its unique high affinity for the vitamin biotin. The dissociation constant (Kd) of the biotin-streptavidin complex is about ~10-15 mol/L. The strong affinity recognition of biotin and biotinylated molecules has made streptavidin one of the most important components in diagnostics and laboratory kits. The streptavidin/biotin system has one of the biggest free energies of association of yet observed for noncovalent binding of a protein and small ligand in aqueous solution (K_assoc = 10**14). The complexes are also extremely stable over a wide range of temperature and pH.

ACADL is a homotetramer belonging to the acyl-CoA dehydrogenase family. ACADL takes part in the catabolism of fatty acids and amino acids and is a key source of energy for the heart and skeletal muscle. Mutation in the ACADL gene results in non-ketotic hypoglycemia and hypotonia (muscle weakness).

Histone deacetylase 8 (HDAC8) is a member of the class 1 of the histone deacetylase/acuc/apha family. HDAC8 is biologically involved in skull morphogenesis and metabolic control of the ERR-alpha/PGC1-alpha transcriptional complex. Histones play a key role in transcriptional regulation, cell cycle progression, and developmental events. Histone acetylation/deacetylation modifies chromosome structure and affects transcription factor access to DNA.

Cytochrome P450 2D6 is a member of a complex family of microsomal enzymes (mono-oxygenases) present in the endoplasmic reticulum membrane, which perform detoxification reaction on xenobiotic compounds. Cytochrome P450 2D6 is the molecular target of autoantibodies against the "liver kidney microsomal antigen 1" (LKM 1) which has been classically defined by immunofluorescence microscopy. The presence of these autoantibodies is considered indicative of Autoimmune Hepatitis Type 2; LKM 1 antibodies have also been detected in patients with hepatitis C viral infection. The International Autoimmune Hepatitis Group therefore has subdivided the AIH type 2 into two subgroups: 2a with HCV and 2b without HCV. AIH 2a patients are often over 40 and predominantly male.

Mug protein removes three N4-ethenocytosine and takes away s the uracil base from mismatches in the order of U:G>U:A. The enzyme Uracil-N-Glycosylase removes uracil from the DNA leaving an AP position. Mug is also able to hydrolyzing the carbon-nitrogen bond among the sugar-phosphate backbone of the DNA and the mispaired base. The complementary strand guanine plays a role in substrate recognition.

ALDH5A1 is a mitochondrial NAD(+)-dependent succinic semialdehyde dehydrogenase, which is a member of the aldehyde dehydrogenase family of proteins. The ALDH5A1 protein functions as a mediator to the NADP+-dependent oxidation of aldehydes into acids and has an imperative role in the detoxification of alcohol-derived acetaldehyde, as well as in lipid peroxidation and in the metabolism of corticosteroids, biogenic amines and neurotransmitters. Sclerostin (SOST) is a secreted glycoprotein with a C-terminal cysteine knot-like (CTCK) domain and sequence similarity to the DAN (differential screening-selected gene aberrative in neuroblastoma) family of bone morphogenetic protein (BMP) antagonists. Sclerostin functions as a negative regulator of bone growth, by inhibiting bone formation. SOST is widely expressed at low levels, with highest levels in the bone, cartilage, kidney, liver, bone marrow and primary osteoblasts differentiated for 21 days. SOST gene defects cause sclerosteosis and bone dysplasia.

SPARC protein, or secreted protein acidic and rich in cysteine, or osteonectin or basement-membrane protein 40 is a protein that is coded by the SPARC gene in humans. It is a glycoprotein located in bones, that binds to calcium. The osteonectin is secreted from osteoblasts cells when boas are formed, mineralized and promotes the formation and creation of mineral crystals. Asides from calcium, it has been shown that this protein can also bind to collagen.

Transcription Elongation Factor A (SII)- 2 (TCEA2) is located in the nucleus, where it serves as an SII class transcription elongation factor. Elongation factors in this class are responsible for discharging RNA polymerase II ternary complexes from transcriptional arrest at template-encoded arresting sites. TCEA2 interacts with general transcription factor IIB, a basal transcription factor.

THO Complex 7, also known as THOC7, is a component of the THO subcomplex of the TREX complex which couples mRNA transcription, processing and nuclear export, and which related to spliced mRNA. THOC7 is a protein coding gene which is essential for export of polyadenylated RNA. Furthermore, THOC7 is associated with RNA transport.

Pin 1 is a peptidyl-prolyl cis/trans isomerase (PPIase) which interacts with NIMA and essential for cell cycle regulation Pin1 is nuclear PPIase containing a WW protein interaction domain, and is structurally and functionally related to Ess1/Ptf1, an essential protein in budding yeast. FtsJ RNA Methyltransferase Homolog 2 (FTSJ2) belongs to the S-adenosylmethionine-binding protein family. FTSJ2 is a nucleolar protein and which is involved in cell cycle control and DNA repair and the processing and modification of rRNA. FTSJ2 is extensively expressed, with the highest expression in the muscle, placenta, and heart.

G3BP1 belongs to the heterogeneous nuclear RNA-binding proteins and is also an element of the Ras signal transduction pathway. G3BP1 is one of the DNA-unwinding enzymes that favors partially unwound 3'-tailed substrates and is also able to unwind partial RNA/DNA and RNA/RNA duplexes in an ATP-dependent fashion. G3BP1 binds specifically to the Ras-GTPase-activating protein by associating with its SH3 domain. In addition, G3BP1 cleaves exclusively between cytosine and adenine and cleaves MYC mRNA preferentially at the 3'-UTR.
