Fibroblast Growth Factors (FGFs) comprise a family of at least 18 structurally related proteins that take part in a multitude of physiological and pathological cellular processes, includingdifferentiation, cell growth, angiogenesis, wound healing and tumorgenesis. Homeodomain-only protein (HOPX) functions via its interaction with SRF, thus modulating the expression of SRF-dependent cardiac-specific genes and cardiac development. HOPX inhibits SRF-dependent transcription either by hindering SRF binding to DNA or by engaging histone deacetylase (HDAC) proteins which prevent transcription by SRF. HOPX is a homeodomain protein which lacks certain conserved residues required for DNA binding. HOPX overexpression causes cardiac hypertrophy.

PGAM1 is an essential component of glucose and 2,3-BPGA (2,3-bisphosphoglycerate) metabolism and catalyzes the reversible reaction of 3-phosphoglycerate (3-PGA) to 2-phosphoglycerate (2-PGA) in the glycolytic pathway. Creatine Kinase BB is a cytoplasmic enzyme involved in energy homeostasis. The encoded protein reversibly catalyzes the transfer of phosphate between ATP and various phosphogens such as creatine phosphate. It acts as a homodimer in brain as well as in other tissues, and as a heterodimer with a similar muscle isozyme in heart. Sclerostin (SOST) is a secreted glycoprotein with a C-terminal cysteine knot-like (CTCK) domain and sequence similarity to the DAN (differential screening-selected gene aberrative in neuroblastoma) family of bone morphogenetic protein antagonists. Sclerostin functions as a negative regulator of bone growth, by inhibiting bone formation. SOST is expressed mainly in the bone, cartilage, kidney, liver, bone marrow and primary osteoblasts differentiated for 21 days. SOST gene defects cause sclerosteosis and bone dysplasia.

Cathepsin-Z (CTSZ) is a lysosomal cysteine proteinase and member of the peptidase C1 family. CTSZ, which has been also known as cathepsin X and cathepsin P, exhibits carboxy-monopeptidase and carboxy-dipeptidase activities. PDE6H belongs to the rod/cone cGMP-PDE gamma subunit family, which selectively catalyze the hydrolysis of 3 cyclic phosphate bonds in adenosine and/or guanine 3,5 cyclic monophosphate (cAMP and/or cGMP). This family regulates the cellular levels, localization and duration of action of these second messengers by controlling the rate of their degradation. PDE6H is the inhibitory (or gamma) subunit of the cone-specific cGMP phosphodiesterase, which is atetramer composed of two catalytic chains (alpha and beta), and two inhibitory chains (gamma). Lysyl-tRNA synthetase (KARS) is a member of the class-II aminoacyl-tRNA synthetase family. KARS exists as both mitochondrial and cytoplasmic isoforms produced by alternative splicing, and believed to have a role in autoimmune diseases, such as polymyositis or dermatomyositis. Calumenin is a calcium-binding protein located in the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) and sarcoplasmic reticulum (SR) of mammalian tissues which plays a role in ER functions as protein folding and sorting. Calumenin belongs to a family of multiple EF-hand proteins (CERC) that include reticulocalbin, ERC-55, and Cab45 and the product of this gene. Fumarase is an enzymatic factor of Krebs cycle, which catalyzes the formation of L-malate from fumarate. Cathepsin F ( CTSF) is a member of the peptidase C1 family. Cathepsins are papain familycysteine proteinases which are a main component of the lysosomal proteolytic system. The CTSF gene isubiquitously expressed, and it maps to chromosome 11q13, close to the gene encoding cathepsin W. CTSF plays a role in normal protein catabolism. CTSF involved in some degradative processes occurring in tumor progression since it is highly expressed in some cancer cell lines.

Aspartoacylase is a homodimer which catalyzes the deacetylation of N-acetylaspartic acid (NAA) (a protein whose hydrolysis is crucial to maintenance of intact white matter) to generate acetate and L-aspartate. Aspartoacylase (ASPA) is expressed in the liver, lung and kidney tissue, as well as in the skeletal muscle and in cerebral white matter. Carcinoembryonic Antigen-Related Cell Adhesion Molecule 7 (CEACAM7) is a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily, CEA family. CEACAM7 contains 1 Ig-like C2-type (immunoglobulin-like) domain and 1 Ig-like V-type (immunoglobulin-like) domain. CEACAM7 is intensely down-regulated in colonic adenocarcinomas.

P450 Oxidoreductase, also known as POR is a flavoprotein which contributes electrons to all microsomal P450 enzymes. POR is localized to the endoplasmic reticulum, where it is also capable of transfering electrons to heme oxygenase as well as cytochrome b5. POR is structurally related to two separate flavoprotein families; first one is ferredoxin nucleotide reductase and the second flavodoxin.
