RGS16 is part of the ''regulator of G protein signaling'' family. RGS16 inhibits signal transduction by increasing the GTPase activity of G protein alpha subunits thereby driving them into their inactive GDP-bound form. RGS16 Binds to G(i)-alpha and G(o)-alpha, but not to G(s)-alpha. RGS16 regulates the kinetics of signaling in the phototransduction cascade.

Sulfotransferase 1C2 (SULT1C2) is a member the sulfotransferase1 superfamily. SULT1C2 catalyzes the transfer of sulfate from PAPS (3’-phosphoadenosine-5’-phosphosulfate) to phenol-containing compounds, including hormones and neurotransmitters. A short and a long isoform of SULT1C2 exist as a result of alternative splicing events. Sulfotransferase enzymes catalyze the sulfate conjugation of various hormones, neurotransmitters, drugs, and xenobiotic compounds.

Histone deacetylase 8 (HDAC8) is a member of the class 1 of the histone deacetylase/acuc/apha family. HDAC8 is biologically involved in skull morphogenesis and metabolic control of the ERR-alpha/PGC1-alpha transcriptional complex. Histones play a key role in transcriptional regulation, cell cycle progression, and developmental events. Histone acetylation/deacetylation modifies chromosome structure and affects transcription factor access to DNA.

UBE2D4 is a member of the ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme family. Ubiquitin-conjugating enzymes (E2 enzymes or ubiquitin-carrier enzymes) execute the second step in the ubiquitination reaction which marks a protein for degradation using the proteasome. UBE2D4 receives ubiquitin from the E1 complex and catalyzes its covalent attachment to other proteins. In vitro UBE2D4 can promote polyubiquitination using all 7 ubiquitin Lys residues, but usually selects 'Lys-11' and 'Lys-48'-linked polyubiquitination.

tRNA-splicing endonuclease subunit Sen15 (TSEN15) is a member of the SEN15 family. tRNA splicing is an essential process required for cell growth and division. TSEN15 is a subunit of the tRNA splicing endonuclease. TSEN15 cleaves pre-tRNA at the 5' and 3' splice sites to release the intron.

Cyclophilin-F catalyzes the cis-trans isomerization of proline imidic peptide bonds in oligopeptides and involved in regulation of the mitochondrial permeability transition pore (mPTP). Cyclophilin-F, in cooperation with mitochondrial TP53, is involved in activating oxidative stress-induced necrosis. Cyclophilin-F is also involved in modulation of mitochondrial membrane F1F0 ATP synthase activity and regulation of mitochondrial matrix adenine nucleotide levels. Furthermore, Cyclophilin-F has anti-apoptotic activity independently of mPTP and in cooperation with BCL2 inhibits cytochrome c-dependent apoptosis.

Syntaxin-2 (STX2) is a member of the syntaxin/epimorphin family of proteins. Syntaxin family members are cellular receptors for transport vesicles which participate in exocytosis in neutrophils. STX2 regulates epithelial-mesenchymal interactions and epithelial cell morphogenesis and activation. Dopachrome Tautomerase also known as DCT, belongs to the tyrosinase family. DCT takes a significant part in the synthesis of the melanin pigment including tyrosinase (Tyr), tyrosinase-related protein 1 (Tyrp1). Which are highly involved in eumelanin synthesis. The change among the eumelanin and the pheomelanin pathways is assumed to depend on the presence of cysteine. Hence, in the lack of cysteine, dopaquinone, the product of tyrosinase action, is transformed to cyclodopa (leucodopachrome) and afterwards to dopachrome (and DOPA).

Alpha-synuclein or SNCA is a synuclein protein. SNCA mainly found in the brain, small concentration of the protein can also be located in other tissues such as heart and muscle. When looking in the brain tissue, SNCA is located in the end of the neuron, in an area called presynaptic terminal. In the presynaptic terminal SNCA has interaction with phospholipids & other proteins. Neurotransmitters are released from the synaptic vesicles in the Presynaptic terminals and act as messengers. Once released, the neurotransmitters send signals across the neurons that are crucial for the brain’s operation.

Peroxiredoxin 6 (PRDX6) belongs to the thiol-specific antioxidant protein family. PRDX6 is a bifunctional enzyme with 2 distinct active sites. PRDX6 is involved in redox regulation of the cell and can reduce Hydrogen peroxide and short chain organic, fatty acid, and phospholipid hydroperoxides. PRDX6 may have a role in the regulation of phospholipid turnover as well as in protection against oxidative injury. Furthermore, PRDX6 eases the oxidative stress and TGF-beta-induced abnormalities of human trabecular meshwork cells. In addition, PRDX6 is necessary for blood vessel integrity in injured skin.

Indoleamine 2,3-Dioxygenase 1 (IDO1) catalyzes the primary and rate-limiting stage in tryptophan catabolism to N-formyl-kynurenine. IDO1 affects on various tryptophan substrates including D-tryptophan, and serotonin and is expressed in dendritic cells, monocytes, and macrophages. IDO1 takes part in a range of pathophysiological processes like neuropathology, antimicrobial and antitumor defense, immunoregulation, and antioxidant activity. IDO1 regulates T-cell behavior by its pericellular catabolization of the necessary amino acid tryptophan.

The somatomedins, or insulin-like growth factors (IGFs), comprise a family of peptides that play important roles in mammalian growth and development. IGF1 mediates many of the growth-promoting effects of growth hormone (GH; MIM 139250). Early studies showed that growth hormone did not directly stimulate the incorporation of sulfate into cartilage, but rather acted through a serum factor, termed 'sulfation factor,' which later became known as 'somatomedin' (Daughaday et al., 1972). Three main somatomedins have been characterized: somatomedin C (IGF1), somatomedin A (IGF2; MIM 147470), and somatomedin B (MIM 193190) (Rotwein, 1986; Rosenfeld, 2003).

Cytokeratin 8 (KRT8) belongs to the type II keratin family clustered on the long arm of chromosome 12. Type I and type II keratins heteropolymerize to form intermediate-sized filaments in the cytoplasm of epithelial cells. KRT8 typically dimerizes with keratin 18 to form an intermediate filament in simple single-layered epithelial cells. KRT8 has a role in retaining cellular structural integrity and also functions in signal transduction and cellular differentiation. KRT8 gene mutations cause cryptogenic cirrhosis.

PPIases catalyze the cis-trans isomerization of proline imidic peptide bonds in oligopeptides and speeds up the protein folding. PPIG catalyzes the cis-trans isomerization of proline imidic peptide bonds in oligopeptides and is involved in the folding, transport, and assembly of proteins. PPIG is localized to the nuclear speckles, a nuclear compartment rich in splicing factors, and cooperates with the splicing factors SC35 and pinin. Cyclophilin-G also takes part in the regulation of pre-mRNA splicing.

BLMH is affiliate to the papain superfamily of the cysteine protease and the peptidase C1 family. BLMH is a cytoplasmic cysteinepeptidase usually found as a homohexamer. The standard physiological role of BLMH has not been determined, but it shields normal and malignant cells from the glycopeptide antitumor drug BLM. BLMH catalyzes the inactivation of the antitumor drug BLM (a glycopeptide) by hydrolyzing the carboxyamide bond of its B-aminoalaninamide moiety and in addition demonstrates general aminopeptidase activity.
