Lactoferrin is a glycoprotein that belongs to the transferrin family of iron binding proteins. It is found in human breast milk as well as most epithelial surface secretions including tears, nasogastric, saliva, and bronchial. Lactoferrin binds 2 molecules of iron with very high affinity. Lactoferrin inhibits bacterial growth by withholding iron, its N-terminal region is an antimicrobial peptide. Lactotransferrin acts synergistically with lysozyme to potentiate the activity of both proteins. The multifunctional protein lactoferrin has many physiological possible roles. It is often referred to as an innate defense protein and frequently serves as the first line of defense in protection against pathogens. It has been shown to have the ability to bind iron, it is a natural anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and anti-viral, it is an antioxidant and it also has immunomodulatory properties. It has many beneficial properties, which make it a good candidate for a number of product applications. Considerable research is currently going on to explain the various suggested biological functions of lactoferrin.

Ring Finger Protein 7, also known as RNF7, is an extremely conserved ring finger protein. RNF7 is a vital subunit of SKP1-cullin/CDC53-F box protein ubiquitin ligases that are a part of the protein degradation machinery important for cell cycle progression and signal transduction. RNF7 is a substrate of casein kinase II (CSNK2A1/CKII) and also interacts with it. The phosphorylation of RNF7 by CSNK2A1 promotes the degradation of IkappaBalpha (CHUK/IKK-alpha/IKBKA) and p27Kip1(CDKN1B).

Interferon Alpha And Beta Receptor, also known IFNAR1, belongs to the class II cytokine receptor family. IFNAR1 protein forms one of the two chains of a receptor for interferons alpha as well as beta. IFNAR1 binds and activates the receptor which stimulates Janus protein kinases, which in turn phosphorylate some proteins, including STAT1 & STAT2. This protein binds free fatty acids and their coenzyme A derivatives, bilirubin, and some other small molecules in the cytoplasm; it may be involved in intracellular lipid transport and metabolism.

Alpha-hemoglobin stabilizing protein (AHSP) is an erythroid-specific protein that acts as a chaperone to prevent the aggregation of A-hemoglobin during normal erythroid cell development. AHSP specifically protects free A-hemoglobin from precipitation in live cells and in solution. AHSP is expected to modulate pathological states of alpha-hemoglobin excess such as beta-thalassemia. Furthermore, AHSP promotes alpha globin chain stability in human erythropoiesis. In addition, the AHSP stabilizes the alpha-Hb chain, thus avoiding its precipitation and its ability to generate ROS, which is implicated in cell death. AHSP is expressed in blood and bone marrow. AHSP subunit is a monomer, it forms a heterodimer with free alpha-hemoglobin. On the other hand, AHSP does not bind beta-hemoglobin nor alpha2beta2 hemoglobin A. AHSP is downregulated in TSEs (transmissible spongiform encephalopathies).

RHOC is a small signaling G protein/GTPase which is part of the Rac subfamily of the family Rho family of GTPases. RHOC rotats between inactive GDP-bound and active GTP-bound states and has a role as a molecular switch in signal transduction cascades. TNFRSF14, a member of the TNF receptor superfamily, is a type I transmembrane protein. FABP6 also called ileal fatty acid binding protein, is part of the small family of highly conserved, cytoplasmic proteins that bind long-chain fatty acids and other hydrophobic ligands. FABP6 cytosolic protein binds bile acid. FABP6 plays a role in fatty acid uptake, transport, and metabolism. FABP6 stimulates gastric acid and pepsinogen secretion. Seems to be able to bind to bile salts and bilirubins. FABP6 expression is restricted in the small intestine to the ileum where it is involved in the enterohepatic circulation of bile acids. Alternate transcription promoters generate 2 transcript variants, encoding a 128 aa and a 177 aa residue protein. Human FABP6 isoform 2 contains 128 amino acid residues and is acetylated on Ala2. FABP6 binds together fatty acids and bile acids and is directly involved in fatty acid transport and metabolism.

CUE Domain Containing 1, also know as CUEDC1 contains 1 CUE domain. The CUE domain is structurally associated to the ubiquitin-binding UBA domain and exists as a domain-swapped dimer which makes additional contacts with ubiquitin, and as a result, binds ubiquitin with higher affinity. The CUE domain is discovered in proteins with diverse functions including protein sorting and degradation of misfolded proteins in the endoplasmic reticulum.

C19ORF80 is mainly expressed in the liver; it is also expressed in adipose tissues. C19ORF80 is expressed in response to food intake and stimulated by insulin.

Human HSP40 (heat shock protein with molecular size of 40kDa) is one of the mammalian homologues of bacterial DnaJ heat shock protein and regulates cellular processes by aiding in the folding, transport and assembly. HSP40 protein contains the J-domain which controls interaction with the ATPase domain of DnaK.
