Ubiquitin Carboxyl-Terminal Esterase L1 (UCHL1) is a part of a family whose products hydrolyze small C-terminal adducts of ubiquitin to create the ubiquitin monomer. UCHL1 is a part of the ubiquitin system, which regulates many biological activities. UCHL1 is a thiol protease that distinguishes and hydrolyzes a peptide bond at the C-terminal glycine of ubiquitin. UCHL1 binds to free monoubiquitin and avoids its degradation in lysosomes.

CNTF is a polypeptide hormone whose actions appear to be restricted to the nervous system where it promotes neurotransmitter synthesis and neurite outgrowth in certain neuronal populations. The protein is a potent survival factor for neurons and oligodendrocytes and may be relevant in reducing tissue destruction during inflammatory attacks. A mutation in this gene, which results in aberrant splicing, leads to ciliary neurotrophic factor deficiency, but this phenotype is not causally related to neurologic disease. In addition to the predominant monocistronic transcript originating from this locus, the gene is also co-transcribed with the upstream ZFP91 gene. Co-transcription from the two loci results in a transcript that contains a complete coding region for the zinc finger protein but lacks a complete coding region for ciliary neurotrophic factor.

Ras-related protein Ral-B (RALB) is a member of a subfamily of Ras-related GTPases. RALB is activated by a unique nucleotide exchange factor, Ral GDS, and deactivated by a distinct GTPase-activating protein. RALB has a role in the late stages of cytokinesis and is required for the abscission of the bridge joining the sister cells emerging from mitosis. In addition, RALB is required for suppression of apoptosis.

Chemokine (C-C motif) ligand 2 (CCL2) is a small cytokine belongs to the CC chemokine family which is also known as monocyte chemotactic protein-1 (MCP-1). MCP 1 is found at the site of tooth eruption and bone degradation. In the bone, CCL2 is expressed by mature osteoclasts. CCL2 recruits immune cells, such as monocytes, to sites of tissue injury and infection. MCP 1is produced as a protein precursor containing signal peptide of 23 amino acids and a mature peptide of 76 amino acids. As with many other CC chemokines, CCL2 is located on chromosome 17 in humans. The cell surface receptors that bind CCL2 are CCR2 and CCR5.

RSCU analysis proposes that the 2019-nCoV is a recombinant within the viral spike glycoprotein between the bat coronavirus and an unknown coronavirus.

NusA is an important player in both prevention and enhancement of transcriptional termination. NusA is important both in Rho-dependent and intrinsic termination, as well as in lambda and other phage antitermination systems. The NusA gene was first identified by isolation of the nusAl mutation, which limits bacteriophage-l growth by preventing the antitermination activity of the l N protein. NusA plays a role in transcriptional antitermination in the cell. It has been shown to specifically aid in read-through of the RNA polymerase genes rpoB and rpoC, as well as in successful synthesis of the ribosomal RNA genes. Additionally to its anti-termination role, NusA is needed for both Rho-dependent and intrinsic transcriptional termination. NusA is obligatory for Rho-dependent termination in lambda phage and in the cell. NusA plays a role in intrinsic termination and the inhibition of RNA elongation. However NusA interacts with all three subunits of RNA polymerase, its termination activity primarily depends on its interaction with the carboxy-terminus of RpoA. Otubain 1 (OTUB1) belongs to the ovarian tumor (OUT) superfamily of predicted cysteine proteases and inhibits cytokine gene transcription in the immune system through its interaction with a ubiquitin protease and E3 ubiquitin ligase. OTUB1 is a highly specific ubiquitin iso-peptidase, it cleaves ubiquitin from branched poly-ubiquitin chains but not from ubiquitinated substrates. OTUB1 is believed to work in specific ubiquitin-dependent pathways, possibly by providing an editing function of polyubiquitin chain growth. OTUB1 is a hydrolase that removes conjugated ubiquitin from proteins in vitro and may therefore have a significant regulatory role in the level of protein turnover by preventing degradation. Additionally, OTUB1 is a regulator of T-cell anergy, a phenomenon that occurs when T-cells are rendered impassive to antigen re-challenge and no longer respond to their cognate antigen. BTLA, also known as B & T Lymphocyte Associated, is an inhibitory molecule which is part of the Ig superfamily. BTLA is a type 1 transmembrane glycoprotein in the CD28 family of T cell costimulatory molecules. BTLA is a 3rd inhibitory receptor on T lymphocytes with resemblances to CTLA-4 & PD-1. Moreover, BTLA is a ligand for TNF (receptor) superfamily, TNFRSF14, and HVEM. BTLA-HVEM complexes negatively regulate T-cell immune responses.
