Ro 60 kDa autoantigen is an RNA-binding protein that binds to several small cytoplasmic RNA molecules known as Y RNAs. SSA2 may stabilize these RNAs from degradation. Sera taken from patients with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) often contains antibodies that react with the normal cellular SSA2 protein as if this antigen was foreign.

Complement Factor B, also known as CFB, encodes complement factor B which is a component of the alternative pathway of complement activation. Factor B circulates in the blood as a single chain polypeptide. Once the alternative pathway is activated it is cleaved by complement factor D yielding the noncatalytic chain Ba and the catalytic subunit Bb. The active subunit Bb is a serine protease which connects with C3b to form the alternative pathway C3 convertase. Also, Bb is involved in the proliferation of preactivated B lymphocytes, while Ba inhibits their proliferation.

Cell Death-Inducing DFFA-Like Effector C (CIDEC) belongs to the cell death-inducing DNA fragmentation factor-like effector family, whose members have significant roles in apoptosis. CIDEC is expressed mainly in adipocytes, intestine, heart, stomach, and weakly in the brain, kidney and liver. CIDEC overexpression in preadipocytes induces apoptosis. CIDEC regulates enlargement of lipid droplets.

GH is a member of the somatotropin/prolactin family of hormones which play an important role in growth control. The gene, along with four other related genes, is located at the gGH locus on chromosome 17 where they are interspersed in the same transcriptional orientation; an arrangement which is thought to have evolved by a series of gene duplications. The five genes share a remarkably high degree of sequence identity. Alternative splicing generates additional isoforms of each of the five GHs, leading to further diversity and potential for specialization. This particular family member is expressed in the pituitary but not in placental tissue as is the case for the other four genes in the GH locus. Mutations in or deletions of the gene lead to GH deficiency and short stature.

Cytohesin 1 also known as CYTH1 belongs to the PSCD family. CYTH1 is responsible for promoting guanine-nucleotide exchange on ARF1 and ARF5 and also promotes the activation of ARF factors by the replacement of GDP with GTP.

MYCBP is a member of the AMY1 family. MYCBP (c-Myc binding protein) binds to the transactivation domain of c-Myc and stimulates the activation of E-box-dependent transcription. MYCBP translocates from the cytoplasm to the nucleus during S phase when increased expression of c-Myc occurs. MYCBP also associates with AKAP 149 and AKAP 84 in mitochondria of somatic cells and sperm, suggesting a role for MYCBP in spermatogenesis. MYCBP is highly expressed in the heart, placenta, pancreas, skeletal muscle and kidney. It is also present at low levels in the lung.

Gamma-SNAP (NAPG) is a cytoplasmic protein which binds to a membrane receptor complex composed of VAMP, SNAP25 and syntaxin. NAPG mediates the membrane binding of NSF, which is crucial for membrane fusion reactions. NSF and SNAPs seem to be general components of the intracellular membrane fusion system, and their action at specific sites of fusion needs be controlled by SNAP receptors specific to the membranes being fused. NAPG mediates platelet exocytosis and controls the membrane fusion events of this process.

Dehydrogenase/reductase SDR family member 8 (HSD17B11) is a member of the HSD17B family of proteins, which regulate the availability of steroids within various tissues throughout the body. HSD17B11 is widely expressed with the highest levels found in the retina, pancreas, kidney, liver, lung, adrenal, small intestine, ovary and heart as well as in steroidogenic cells. HSD17B11 converts androstan-3-?,17-?-diol (3-?-diol) to androsterone, suggesting it may participate in androgen metabolism during steroidogenesis.

The 111 amino acid mature human otoraplin contains 1 SH3 domain (46 – 107 amino acids) and a Tyr at position 50 that is reportedly sulfated. Otoraplin takes pasrt in the initiation of periotic mesenchyme chondrogenesis.
Otoraplin is secreted through the Golgi apparatus and plays a role in cartilage development and maintenance. A frequent polymorphism in the translation start codon of OTOR can abolish translation and may be associated with forms of deafness.

Streptavidin is widely used in molecular biology through its unique high affinity for the vitamin biotin. The dissociation constant (Kd) of the biotin-streptavidin complex is about ~10-15 mol/L. CCNH is part of the cyclin family that is known for its protein abundance through the cell cycle. Cyclins act as regulators of CDK kinases. CCNH forms a complex with CDK7 kinase and ring finger protein MAT1. The kinase complex is able to phosphorylate CDK2 and CDC2 kinases, therefore it functions as a CDK-activating kinase (CAK). GALM is a main enzyme of carbohydrate metabolism catalysing the translation of beta-D-galactose to alpha-D-galactose. GALM is needed for normal galactose metabolism by preserveing the equilibrium of alpha and beta anomers of galactose. GALM is required for the production of complex oligosaccharides.
