Receptor activity modifying protein 3 (RAMP3) belongs to the RAMP family of single-transmembrane-domain proteins, named receptor (calcitonin) activity modifying proteins (RAMPs). RAMP3 is needed to transport calcitonin-receptor-like receptor (CRLR) to the plasma membrane. CRLR acts as either a calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) receptor or an adrenomedullin receptor, depending on which members of the RAMP family are expressed. The existence of RAMP3 effects CRLR to function as an adrenomedullin receptor.

NFKB inhibitor interacting Ras-like 2 (NKIRAS2) is an inhibitor of the transcription factor NF-kappaB. NKIRAS2 is similar to the Ras-like small GTPases which associate with IkappaB. The Ras-like proteins- NKIRAS1 and NKIRAS2, interact with the PEST domains of I?B? and I?B? and reduce their rate of degradation. NKIRAS2 is an atypical Ras-like protein which functions as a potent regulator of NF-kappa-B activity by preventing the degradation of NF-kappa-B inhibitor beta (NFKBIB) by most signals, explaining why NFKBIB is more impervious to degradation.

Signaling threshold-regulating transmembrane adapter 1 (SIT1) negatively regulates T-cell antigen receptor (TCR)-mediated signaling in T-cells. SIT1 is involved in positive selection of T-cells. SIT1 is specifically expressed in T- and B-cells. SIT1 is also present in plasma cells but not in germinal center B-cells (at protein level). SIT1 is expressed in T- and B-cell lymphoma.

PRND is a membrane glycosylphosphatidylinositol-anchored glycoprotein which exists mainly in testis. PRND is expressed during embryogenesis, although in the central nervous system it is expressed minimally .Mutations in PRND may cause neurological disorders. PRND located on chromosome 20, about 20 kbp downstream of the gene encoding cellular prion protein, to which it is biochemically and structurally analogous.

AKT Serine/Threonine Kinase 3 (Akt3) is a member of the Akt subfamily of serine/threonine protein kinases. Recognition, binding, and fusion take place through the interface of complementary molecules which are localized to specific domains of the sperm and egg plasma membranes. In the sperm, the postacrosomal region or equatorial segment is involved in sperm-egg plasma membrane fusion. The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the cysteine-rich secretory protein (CRISP) family. CRISP1 is expressed in the epididymis, is secreted into the epididymal lumen, and binds to the postacrosomal region of the sperm head, where it takes part in sperm-egg fusion.

RPS27A is a small protein composed of 76 amino acids. RPS27A is found only in eukaryotic organisms among which shows strong sequence conservation. The RPS27A protein is present in all cell types, thus giving rise to its name.
RPS27A is found either in free form or conjugated to proteins through a covalent bond between the glycine at the C-terminal end and the side chains of lysine.
The connection of multiple copies of RPS27A targets the proteins for degradation by the 26S proteosome. RPS27A ligation is an ATP-dependent multi-step process. RPS27A is activated by the E1 enzyme. The attachment of RPS27A to the target protein is catalyzed by the E2 enzyme acting in concert with E3 which is involved in the recognition of the substrate protein.

Phosphatidylinositol transfer protein beta isoform (PITPNB) is found in the cytoplasm, where it catalyzes the transfer of phosphatidylinositol (PI) and phosphatidylcholine (PC) between membranes. PITPNB mobilizes PI from the endoplasmic reticulum and regulates its release from stored vesicles in the Golgi network. PITPNB is extensively expressed in various tissues.

g-synuclein(Originally known as a breast cancer specific gene product, BCSG1) is an acidic neuronal protein of 127 amino acids. Gamma-Synuclein is a member of the Synuclein protein family, which is believed to be involved in the pathogenesis of neurodegenerative diseases. High levels of Gamma-Synuclein have been found in advanced breast carcinomas suggesting a correlation between overexpression of SNCG and breast tumor development. Synuclein-Gamma is found mostly in the peripheral nervous system (in primary sensory neurons, sympathetic neurons, and motor neurons) and retina. SNCG is also identified in the brain, ovarian tumors, and in the olfactory epithelium. SNCG expression in breast tumors is a marker for tumor progression. A modification in the expression of gamma-synuclein has been detected in the retina of Alzheimer's patients.

EFNA3 belongs to the ephrin (EPH) family. The ephrins and EPH-related receptors include thelargest subfamily of receptor protein-tyrosine kinases which have been implicated in mediating developmental events, especially in the nervous system and in erythropoiesis. Ephrins are divided into the ephrin-A (EFNA) class and the ephrin-B (EFNB) class, based on their structures and sequence relationships. The Ephrins from the EFNA class are anchored to the membrane by aglycosylphosphatidylinositol linkage, while the others from the EFNB class are transmembrane proteins.

This chemokine elicits its effects on its target cells by interacting with the cell surface chemokine receptor CXCR3, with a higher affinity than do the other ligands for this receptor, CXCL9 and CXCL10. CXCL11 is chemotactic for activated T cells. Its gene is located on human chromosome 4 along with many other members of the CXC chemokine family.

B-Raf Proto-Oncogene, also known as BRAF is a member of the raf/mil family of serine/threonine protein kinases. BRAF participates in regulating the MAP kinase/ERKs signaling pathway, which eventually have an effect on cell division, differentiation, and secretion. Mutations in BRAF have been associated with cardiofaciocutaneous syndrome, which is a disease characterized by heart defects, mental retardation and a distinctive facial appearance. In addition, mutations in BRAF have also been associated with different cancers, including non-Hodgkin lymphoma, colorectal cancer, malignant melanoma, thyroid carcinoma, non-small cell lung carcinoma, as well as adenocarcinoma of lung.

NSL1 holds two coiled-coil domains.NSL1 proteins, localized to kinetochores - chromosome associated structures which attach to microtubules and mediate chromosome movements throughout cell division. NSL1 is a fragment of a conserved protein complex that hold two chromodomain-containing proteins and a component of the outer plate of the kinetochore. NSL1 connect centromeric heterochromatin with the outer kinetochore structure. Several transcript variants are known to encod different isoforms for this gene.

ACTA2 is a member of the actin family of proteins, an extremely conserved family of proteins which takes part in cell motility, structure and integrity. Three types of actin isoforms are known: Alpha, beta and gamma. Alpha actins are a main factor of the contractile mechanism, and beta and gamma take part in the regulation of cell motility. ACTA2 is an alpha actin which is located in skeletal muscle. Mutations in ACTA2 cause aortic aneurysm familial thoracic type 6. Various alternatively spliced variants, encoding the same protein were identified.

Ostreolysin is extracted from Pleurotus ostreatus (oyster mushroom). It is a pore forming protein, which contains a lytic part to both cholesterol and sphingomyelin containing membranes. Because of their cholesterol content and the appearance of ostreolysin in the detergent resistant membranes, ostreolysin is cytotoxic towards the ovary cells of Chinese hamster. It seems that Ostreolysin spots a rich lipid cholesterol phase, presumably the liquid ordered phase.

OLR1 is a type II membrane protein which belongs to the C-type lectin family and performs as a cell-surface receptor for Ox-LDL. Phosphomevalonate kinase (PMVK) is a cytosolic enzyme. PMVK is expressed highly in the heart, liver, skeletal muscle, kidney and pancreas and slightly lower in the brain, placenta, and lung. PMVK catalyzes the conversion of mevalonate 5-phosphate into mevalonate 5-diphosphate in the fifth reaction of the cholesterol biosynthetic pathway. DCTN2 is a 50kDa subunit of dynactin, which is a macromolecular complex consisting of 10-11 subunits ranging in size from 22 to 150 kDa. Dynactin binds to both microtubules and cytoplasmic dynein. Dynactin is involved in a various cellular functions, including ER-to-Golgi transport, the centripetal movement of lysosomes and endosomes, spindle formation, chromosome movement, nuclear positioning, and axonogenesis. The DCTN2 subunit is present in 4-5 copies per dynactin molecule. DCTN2 is comprised of 3 short alpha-helical coiled-coil domains which mediate association with self or other dynactin subunits. DCTN2 interacts directly with the largest subunit (p150) of dynactin and is able to affix p150 in place. DCTN2 modulates cytoplasmic dynein binding to an organelle, and plays a part in prometaphase chromosome alignment and spindle organization during mitosis. DCTN2 is involved in anchoring microtubules to centrosomes. DCTN2 has a role in synapse formation during brain development.
