BTB/POZ domain-containing protein KCTD5 (KCTD5), is a 234 amino acid protein which localizes mainly in the cytoplasm however translocates to the nucleus on interaction with REP proteins. The expression of KCTD5 is up regulated post-transcriptionally in peripheral blood lymphocytes stimulated via the T-cell receptor. KCTD5 interacts particularly with cullin3, attaches ubiquitinated proteins, and created oligomers through its BTB domain.

It is also a HIV-suppressive factor released from CD8+ T cells. This chemokine has been localized to chromosome 17 in humans.

Acetylhydrolase catalyzes the elimination of an acetyl group from the glycerol backbone of platelet-activating factor. PAFAH1B3, which is a subunit of the platelet-activating factor cetylhydrolase isoform 1B complex, is comprised of the catalytic beta and gamma subunits and the regulatory alpha subunit. MMP-3 was found to be capable of activating the precursor of IL1-beta.

Bcl-2–associated X protein (Bax) belongs to the Bcl-2 protein family. Bax is a pro-apoptotic Bcl-2 protein containing BH1, BH2 and BH3 domains. Bax accelerates programmed cell death by binding to, and antagonizing the apoptosis repressor bcl2 or its adenovirus homolog e1b 19k protein. Bax induces the release of cytochrome c, activation of casp3, and thereby apoptosis. Bax is expressed in a wide variety of tissues, with highest levels in the testis and ovary. Tumor suppressor protein p53 upregulates the expression of BAX. Bax has been shown to be involved in p53-mediated apoptosis.
