Background
Paraoxonase 1 also known as PON1takes part in the detoxification of organophosphate insecticides such as parathion.
PON1 is related to high-density lipoprotein (HDL) in the plasma and takes an important part in lipid metabolism and antioxidant defense.
PON1 was first known for its ability to hydrolyze organophosphates and protect against oxidative stress.
PON1 reduces oxidative stress by preventing the oxidation of lipids in LDL particles, which is extremely important in mitigating atherosclerosis and other cardiovascular diseases.
PON1 has an anti-inflammatory effects which help reduce inflammatory markers in different disease states.
PON1 takes part in cholesterol metabolism, influencing the stability and formation of HDL particles, which are vital for lipid transport and reverse cholesterol efflux.

Introduction
Serratia marcescens secretes an endonuclease that has exceptionally high specific activity to the medium that surrounds it. The Benzonase Nuclease is mainly used for elimination of nucleic acid contamination from purified proteins, downstream processing, reduction of viscosity etc. Nucleic acid contaminants are caused by nuclease released to the medium. The DNA is being destroyed by the release of the S. marcescens nuclease and it acts as the killer gene for the auto destruction of microorganisms.

Introduction
Heparanase is an endo β-D-glucuronidase, which degrades heparan sulfate side chains of heparan sulfate proteoglycans (HSPGs) in the extracellular matrix. Heparanase plays an important role in ECM degradation, facilitating the migration and extravasation of tumor cells and inflammatory leukocytes (1,2,3). Upon degradation, heparanase releases growth factors and cytokines that stimulate cell proliferation and chemotaxis (4,5). Heparanase is a heterodimer comprised of a 50 kDa subunit harboring the active site and a 8 kDa subunit. It is produced as a latent 65 kDa precursor and proteolytically processed to its active form (1,6). Heparanase is highly expressed in myeloid leukocytes (i.e. neutrophils) in platelets and in human placenta. Human heparanase was found to be upregulated in various types of primary tumors, correlating in some cases with increased tumor invasiveness and vascularity and with poor prospective survival (7,8).

Lysophosphatidylcholine acyltransferase 1 (LPCAT1) is a part of the 1-acyl-sn-glycerol-3-phosphate acyltransferase family. LPCAT1 is a key enzyme for remodeling phospholipids, including phosphatidylcholine. LPCAT1 possesses both acyltransferase and acetyltransferase activities and also mediates the conversion of 1-acyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine (LPC) into phosphatidylcholine (PC). LPCAT1 presents a clear preference for saturated fatty acyl-CoAs, and 1-myristoyl or 1-palmitoyl LPC as acyl donors and acceptors, respectively. Sequential activation of caspases plays a key role in the execution-phase of cell apoptosis. Hematopoietic Prostaglandin D Synthase (HPGDS) belongs to the sigma class glutathione-S-transferase family. The HPGDS enzyme catalyzes the conversion of PGH2 to PGD2 and has a role in the production of prostanoids in the immune system and mast cells. The presence of the HPGDS enzyme can be utilized to identify the differentiation stage of human megakaryocytes. Furthermore, HPGDS is a prostaglandin involved in smooth muscle contraction/relaxation and an effective inhibitor of platelet aggregation, and the conjugation of glutathione with a extensive range of aryl halides and organic isothiocyanates. In addition, HPGDS displays low glutathione-peroxidase activity towards cumene hydroperoxide. HPGDS is expressed in a number of megakaryocytic cell lines but not in platelets. HPGDS is highly expressed in the adipose tissue, macrophages and placenta; however it is expressed at lower levels in the lung, heart, lymph nodes, appendix, bone marrow and fetal liver.

NUDT1 is an enzyme that hydrolyzes oxidized purine nucleoside triphosphates, such as 8-oxo-dGTP, 8-oxo-dATP, 2-hydroxy-dATP, and 2-hydroxy rATP, to monophosphates, thereby preventing misincorporation of 8-oxo-dGTP into DNA thus preventing A:T to C:G transversions. NUDT1 is found mostly in the cytoplasm, with some in the mitochondria, suggesting that it is involved in the sanitization of nucleotide pools both for nuclear and mitochondrial genomes. Moreover, NUDT1 is expressed at much higher levels in proliferating cells than in resting cells.
