EIF4EBP1 (eukaryotic translation initiation factor 4E-binding protein 1) belongs to a family of translation repressor proteins. EIF4EBP1 regulates eIF4E (eukaryotic translation initiation factor 4E) activity by preventing its assembly into the eIF4F complex and mediates the regulation of protein translation by hormones, growth factors and other stimuli that signal through the MAP kinase and mTORC1 pathways. EIF4EBP1 is phosphorylated in response to various signals including UV irradiation, resulting in its dissociation from eIF4E and activation of mRNA translation. EIF4EBP1 C-terminus has domains which control function and phosphorylation. EIF4EBP1 has a role in progression of breast neoplasms through cell signaling.

Eukaryotic translation elongation factor 1 epsilon-1 (EEF1E1) shares sequence similarity with the amino-terminal ends of the Beta and Gamma subunits of EF-1. By specifically interacting with MetRS, EEF1E1 binds to a macromolecular tRNA synthtase complex which catalyzes the ligation of specific amino acids to their cognate tRNAs. Upon DNA damage, EEF1E1 translocates to the nucleus where it interacts with ATM and ATR, resulting in p53 activation.

Tumor necrosis factor receptor superfamily member 16 (NGFR) BELONGS TO the tumor necrosis factor receptor superfamily with an extensive pattern of expression in tissues such as the brain, liver, lung, and muscle. NGFR has a role in the regulation of the translocation of GLUT4 to the cell surface in adipocytes and skeletal muscle cells in response to insulin, possibly by regulating RAB31 activity, and thus contributes to the regulation of insulin-dependent glucose uptake. NGFRs are low affinity receptors which can bind to NGF, BDNF, NT-3, and NT-4. NGFR mediates cell survival as well as cell death of neural cells.

Platelet factor-4 is a 70-amino acid protein that is released from the alpha-granules of activated platelets and binds with high affinity to heparin. Its major physiologic role appears to be neutralization of heparin-like molecules on the endothelial surface of blood vessels, thereby inhibiting local antithrombin III activity and promoting coagulation. As a strong chemoattractant for neutrophils and fibroblasts, PF4 probably has a role in inflammation and wound repair. Oncostatin-A is a member of the CXC chemokine family. Eukaryotic Translation Elongation Factor 2 (EEF2) which is necessary factor for protein synthesis is a part of the GTP-binding translation elongation factor family. EEF2 catalyzes the GTP-dependent ribosomal translocation step during translation elongation. EEF2 is also catalyzes the coordinated movement of the mRNA as well as the 2 tRNA molecules and conformational changes in the ribosome. EF-2 kinase phosporylation inactivates the EEF2 protein.

The Melanoma Inhibitory protein (MIA) was identified as an inhibitor of in vitro growth of malignant melanoma cells. The protein contains a SH3 domain. MIA acts as a potent tumor cell growth inhibitor for malignant melanoma cells and some other neuroectodermal tumors, including gliomas, in an autocrine fashion. In a study of human melanoma cell lines with different metastatic capacity MIA mRNA expression appeared to be inversely correlated with pigmentation. MIA has been shown to represent a very sensitive and specific serum marker for systemic malignant melanoma that might be useful for staging of primary melanomas, detection of progression from localized to metastatic disease during follow-up, and monitoring therapy of advanced melanomas.

POU5F1 is a homeodomain transcription factor of the POU family, expressed in embryonic stem (ES) cells and embryonic carcinoma (EC) cells.POU5F1 is significantly involved in the signaling pathway for maintaining self-renewal and pluripotency of ES cells. POU5F1 has 2 distinct DNA binding domains which independently bind half-sites of the canonical octamer motif. A frequent splicing event involving FGFR-1 and -2 results in receptors containing all three Ig domains, referred to as the alpha isoform, or only IgII and IgIII, referred to as the ? isoform. Only the alpha isoform has been identified for FGFR-3 and FGFR-4. Additional splicing events for FGFR-1 to -3, involving the C-terminal half of the IgIII domain encoded by two mutually exclusive alternative exons, generate FGF receptors with alternative IgIII domains (IIIb and IIIc). A IIIa isoform which is a secreted FGF binding protein containing only the N-terminal half of the IgIII domain plus some intron sequences has also been reported for FGFR-1. Erythropoietin or EPO is a hormone (glycoprotein), part of the type I cytokine group of proteins. EPO is found mainly in the kidney tissue, produced from fibroblast-like cortical interstitial cells near the proximal tubules. EPO is also present in the blood, where it acts as red cell production regulator, by the promotion of differentiation of erythroid and thereby starts hemoglobin synthesis. Furthermore, EPO has neuroprotective activity towards brain injuries & anti-apoptotic activity in different tissues.
