RUNX3 is part of the RUNX family that mediates the expression of genes which participate in cellular differentiation and cell cycle progression. RUNX3 heterodimer and the beta subunit form a complex that binds to the core DNA sequence 5''-PYGPYGGT-3'' found in several enhancers and promoters, and can either activate or suppress transcription. RUNX3 interacts with additional transcription factors. RUNX3 is a good candidate for gastric cancer tumor suppressor diagnosis.

S100A4 is a member of the S100 family of proteins containing 2 EF-hand calcium-binding motifs. S100 belongs to the family of calcium binding proteins such as calmodulin and troponin C. S100A is composed of an alpha and beta chain whereas S100B is composed of two beta chains. S100 protein is also expressed in the antigen presenting cells such as the Langerhans cells in skin and interdigitating reticulum cells in the paracortex of lymph nodes. S100 proteins are localized either in the cytoplasm or the nucleus of a wide range of cells. S100 proteins are involved in the regulation of a number of cellular processes such as cell cycle progression and differentiation. S100A4 may function in motility, invasion, and tubulin polymerization. There are at least 13 members in the S100 gene family, which are located as a cluster on chromosome 1q21. Chromosomal rearrangements and altered expression of the S100A4 gene have been implicated in tumor metastasis.

Signaling threshold-regulating transmembrane adapter 1 (SIT1) negatively regulates T-cell antigen receptor (TCR)-mediated signaling in T-cells. SIT1 is involved in positive selection of T-cells. SIT1 is specifically expressed in T- and B-cells. SIT1 is also present in plasma cells but not in germinal center B-cells (at protein level). SIT1 is expressed in T- and B-cell lymphoma.

NCBP2 is a part of the nuclear cap-binding protein complex (CBC) that binds to the monomethylated 5'' cap of nascent pre-mRNA in the nucleoplasm. NCBP2 protein has an RNP domain usually located in RNA binding proteins, and contains the cap-binding activity. Synovial Sarcoma, X Breakpoint 1 (SSX1) is a member of a family of highly homologous synovial sarcoma X (SSX) breakpoint proteins. SSX proteins are localized to the nucleus and expressed in testis and some types of cancers and, hence, they are classified as C/T (cancer/testis) antigens. These proteins may serve as transcriptional repressors. SSX1 genes are involved in the t (X;18) translocation typically found in all synovial sarcomas. This translocation leads to the fusion of the synovial sarcoma translocation gene on chromosome 18 to one of the SSX genes on chromosome X. These hybrid proteins are most likely responsible for transforming activity.

TRAF1 is an adapter protein and signal transducer that connects members of the TNFR family to different signaling pathways by association with the receptor cytoplasmic domain and kinases. Proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA), a protein of 30 kDa molecular weight also known as cyclin, forms a trimer ring around a DNA double-helix. Hepatitis C virus is classified into six genotypes(1-6) with several subtypes within each genotype. The preponderance and distribution of HCV genotypes varies globally. Genotype is clinically important in determining potential response to interferon-based therapy and the required duration of such therapy. Genotypes 1 and 4 are less responsive to interferon-based treatment than are the other genotypes (2, 3, 5 and 6).

Osteostat suppresses the early stage of osteoclastogenesis via inhibition of macrophage colony-stimulating factorinduced receptor activator of NF-kappaB (RANK) expression in the osteoclast precursor cells. Osteostat does not inhibit lipopolysaccharide-induced RANK expression in monocytes and dendritic cells, or activation-induced RANK expression in T cells. Osteostat is a novel regulator of osteoclast generation and substantiate the major role played by the endothelium in bone physiology.
