SNRPF is a member of the snRNP Sm proteins family. There are at least seven isoforms, E, F, G, D1, D2, D3 and B/B. This type of common proteins have a crucial part in the biogenesis of the snRNPs. Moreover, they represent the major targets for the so-called anti-Sm auto-antibodies that are diagnostic for systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). SNRPF assist in the cytoplasmic construction of the UsnRNPs by binding to aconserved Sm site on UsnRNA and forming a stable snRNP core complex.

LYVE-1 has been identified as a major receptor for HA (extracellular matrix glycosaminoglycan hyaluronan) on the lymph vessel wall. The deduced amino acid sequence of LYVE-1 predicts a 322-residue type I integral membrane polypeptide 41% similar to the CD44 HA receptor with a 212-residue extracellular domain containing a single Link module the prototypic HA binding domain of the Link protein superfamily. Like CD44, the LYVE-1 molecule binds both soluble and immobilized HA. However, unlike CD44, the LYVE-1 molecule colocalizes with HA on the luminal face of the lymph vessel wall and is completely absent from blood vessels. Hence, LYVE-1 is the first lymph-specific HA receptor to be characterized and is a uniquely powerful marker for lymph vessels themselves.

Ephrin A5 (EFNA5) is a part of the ephrin ligand family which binds the members of ephrin receptor subfamily of tyrosine kinases and stimulates contact-dependent bidirectional signaling into neighboring cells. EFNA5 is mainly expressed in human adult brain, heart, spleen, and ovary and human fetal brain, lung, and kidney.

SERPINB2 is an inhibitory serpin produced primarily in keratinocytes, stimulated monocytes, and placental trophoblasts. SERPINB2 is found primarily as a 47 kDa non-glycosylated intracellular protein that is induced to be secreted as 60 kDa glycoprotein. The glycosylated and unglycosylated SERPINB2 are similarly effective as inhibitors of urokinase-type plasminogen activator (uPA), the only proven physiological target of SERPINB2.

Calcium-binding protein P22 is a phosphoprotein that binds to the sodium-hydrogen exchangers (NHEs). CHP is an essential cofactor which maintains the physiological activity of NHE family members. CHP has protein sequence resemblance to calcineurin B and it is also identified to be an endogenous inhibitor of calcineurin activity.CHP is necessary for constitutive membrane traffic. CHP Inhibits GTPase-stimulated Na(+)/H(+) exchange. CHP inhibits calcineurin phosphatase activity. Required for activity of SLC9A1/NHE1.

Ubiquitin Carboxyl-Terminal Esterase L1 (UCHL1) is a part of a family whose products hydrolyze small C-terminal adducts of ubiquitin to create the ubiquitin monomer. UCHL1 is a part of the ubiquitin system, which regulates many biological activities. UCHL1 is a thiol protease that distinguishes and hydrolyzes a peptide bond at the C-terminal glycine of ubiquitin. UCHL1 binds to free monoubiquitin and avoids its degradation in lysosomes.

TNFRSF14, a member of the TNF receptor superfamily, is a type I transmembrane protein. TNFRSF14 is expressed in peripheral blood T cells, B cells, monocytes and in various tissues enriched in lymphoid cells. TNFRSF14 operates as a co-stimulatory factor for the activation of lymphoid cells and as a deterrent to infection by herpesvirus. Additionally, TNFRSF14 encourages the proliferation of T cells, and triggers apoptosis of various tumor cells.

Matrix metalloproteinase-7 (MMP-7) also known as matrilysin and PUMP (EC 3.4.24.23) cleaves a number of substrates including collagen types IV and X, elastin, fibronectin, gelatin, laminin and proteoglycans. MMP-7 is closely related to the stromelysin family members but is encoded by a different gene. MMP-7 is the smallest of all the MMPs consisting of a pro-peptide domain and a catalytic domain. It lacks the hemopexin-like domain common to other members of the MMPs. MMP-7 is secreted as a 28 kDa proenzyme and can be activated in vitro by organomercurials and trypsin and in vivo by MMP-3 to a 18 kDa active MMP-7 enzyme. Once activated, MMP-7 can activate pro-MMP-1 and pro-MMP-9 but not pro-MMP-2. MMP-7 is widely expressed having been reported in elevated levels in cycling endometrium as well as in colorectal cancers and adenomas, hepatocellular carcinomas, rectal carcinomas, and approximately 50% of gliomas.

CRP is an acute phase protein that correlates with inflammatory disease and is synthesized by hepatocytes during the acute phase response by certain cytokines (IL-1 and TNF Alpha and Beta). CRP levels increase dramatically (up to 1,000 fold) and serve as a useful marker of inflammation in such conditions as bacterial infection, rheumatoid arthritis, viral infections, transplantation rejection, meningitis, myocardial infarction, septicemia, osteomyelitis and others. CRP is also highly correlated to Serum Amyloid A levels.

Mouse S100A15 is a protein of 104 amino acids with an expected molecular weight of 12,870 Dalton having 2 EF-hand calcium binding sites. The S100A15 expression is upregulated in cultured keratinocytes stimulated to differentiate by calcium or phorbol esters. S100A15 is expressed in the skin and keratinocytes.

GPN-loop GTPase 1 (GPN1) is a member of the GPN-loop GTPase family. GPN1 is a guanosine triphosphatase enzyme which has a role in DNA repair and may function in activation of transcription. Smac/Diablo is a proapoptotic protein that increases caspase activation in the cytochrome c/Apaf-1/caspase-9 pathway by its binding to the inhibitor of apoptosis proteins (IAPs) and removing their inhibitory activity. Smac/Diablo is a mitochondrial protein which enters the cytosol when cells go through apoptosis, and it moderates the caspase inhibition of IAPs.

Protein Phosphatase 1, Regulatory Subunit 8 (PPP1R8) is the RNA-binding subunit of a key species of protein phosphatase-1 in the nucleus. The PPP1R8 enzyme is an inhibitor subunit of the main nuclear protein phosphatase-1 (PP-1). PPP1R8 has RNA-binding activity however it doesn’t cleave RNA and may target PP-1 to RNA-associated substrates. Mitochondrial Ribosome Recycling Factor (MRRF) is a member of the RRF family. MRRF attaches to the large ribosomal subunit in the cleft which has a peptidyl transferase center. Diverse mutations in the Lamin A/C gene are associated with different diseases that are collectively called laminophaties, including Emery-Dreifuss muscular dystrophy, familiar partial lipodystrophy, limb girdle muscular dystrophy, dilated cardiomyopathy, Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease, and Hutchinson-Gilford progeria syndrome.
