FSTL1 protein resembles follistatin, an ACTV-binding protein. FSTL1 is an autoantigen associated with rheumatoid arthritis and it holds an FS section, a follistatin-like sequence having 10 conserved cysteine residues.

The Fas receptor (CD95) mediates apoptotic signaling by Fas-ligand expressed on the surface of other cells. Activation of JNK kinase, activation of Jun, and production of ceramide may also play roles in Fas-mediated apoptosis. Activation of fas-mediated apoptosis is opposed by I-FLICE and FAP. Viruses and tumors may escape immune surveillance in part through suppression of fas-mediated apoptosis using similar mechanisms.

GH is a member of the somatotropin/prolactin family of hormones which play an important role in growth control. The gene, along with four other related genes, is located at the growth hormone locus on chromosome 17 where they are interspersed in the same transcriptional orientation; an arrangement which is thought to have evolved by a series of gene duplications. The five genes share a remarkably high degree of sequence identity. Alternative splicing generates additional isoforms of each of the five growth hormones, leading to further diversity and potential for specialization. This particular family member is expressed in the pituitary but not in placental tissue as is the case for the other four genes in the growth hormone locus. Mutations in or deletions of the gene lead to growth hormone deficiency and short stature.

EIF3K is a member of the eIF3 subunit K family. EIF3K is the smallest subunit of eIF3 and it interacts with a number of other subunits of eIF3 and the 40S ribosomal subunit. EIF3K is conserved among high eukaryotes, including mammals, insects, and plants, and it is universally expressed in human tissues. EIF3K is distributed both in nucleus and cytoplasm and colocalized with cyclin D3, a regulatory subunit of cyclin-dependent kinase 4 (Cdk4).

Kruppel-Like Factor 7 (KLF7) is a part of the Kruppel-like transcriptional regulator family whose members regulate cell proliferation, differentiation and survival and contain 3 C2H2 zinc fingers at the C-terminus that mediate binding to GC-rich sites. KLF7 contributes to the progression of type 2 diabetes by inhibiting hormone expression and secretion in pancreatic beta-cells and also by deregulating adipocytokine secretion in adipocytes.

Frizzled-4, also known as FZD4 is a 7 ­transmembrane glycoprotein which belongs to the Frizzled family within the G-protein coupled receptor superfamily. Natural Human Fractalkine is produced as a long protein (373-amino acid) with an extended mucin-like stalk and a chemokine domain on top. The mucin-like stalk permits it to bind to the cell surface.
