Microtubule-associated protein tau (MAPT or Tau) is a protein that stabilizes microtubules. MAPT is abundant in neurons in the central nervous system and is less common elsewhere. When MAPT is defective, and no longer stabilizes microtubules properly, it can result in dementias, such as Alzheimer's disease.

Vitronectin (VTN) which is a part of the pexin family is a cell adhesion and spreading factor found in serum and tissues. VTN interacts with glycosaminoglycans and proteoglycans. VTN inhibits the membrane-damaging effect of the terminal cytolytic complement pathway and binds to numerous serpin serine protease inhibitors. Scientists have been noticed an over expression of VTN, integrins and plasminogen in migrating cells during wound healing.

Resistin, a product of the RSTN gene, is a peptide hormone belonging to the class of cysteine-rich secreted proteins which is termed the RELM family, and is also described as ADSF (Adipose Tissue- Specific Secretory Factor) and FIZZ3 (Found in Inflammatory Zone). Human resistin contains 108 amino acids as a prepeptide, and its hydrophobic signal peptide is cleaved before its secretion. Resistin circulates in human blood as a dimeric protein consisting of two 92 amino acid polypeptides, which are disulfide-linked via Cys26.
Resistin may be an important link between obesity and insulin resistance. Mouse resistin, specifically produced and secreted by adipocyte, acts on skeletal muscle myocytes, hepatocytes and adipocytes themselves so that it reduces their sensitivity to insulin. Steppan et al. have suggested that resistin suppresses the ability of insulin to stimulate glucose uptake. They have also suggested that resistin is present at elevated levels in blood of obese mice, and is down regulated by fasting and antidiabetic drugs. Way et al., on the other hand, have found that resistin expression is severely suppressed in obesity and is stimulated by several antidiabetic drugs.
Other studies have shown that mouse resistin increases during the differentiation of adipocytes, but it also seems to inhibit adipogenesis. In contrast, the human adipogenic differentiation is likely to be associated with a down regulation of resistin gene expression.

CTBP1 participates in controlling the equilibrium between tubular and stacked structures in the Golgi complex. CTBP1 functions in brown adipose tissue differentiation. CTBP1 has dehydrogenase activity. CTBP1 binds to the C-terminus of adenovirus E1A proteins. CTBP1 phosphoprotein is a transcriptional repressor and that takes part during cellular proliferation. CTBP1 & CTBP2 can dimerize and interact with a polycomb group protein complex which is involved in regulation of gene expression during development.

MOBKL1B is a member of the MOB1/phocein family. MOBKL1B stimulates the kinase activity of STK38 and STK38L. MOBKL1B also binds to and regulates downstream targets such as the NDR-family protein kinases and LATS1 kinase. Thus, MOBKL1B participates in cell cycle checkpoint control and tumor inhibition.

SDCBP is a multifunctional intracellular adapter protein. SDCBP protein has tandemly repeated PDZ domains which react with the FYA (phe-tyr-ala) carboxyterminal amino acid sequence of the syndecans. SDCBP is has a role in organization of protein complexes in the plasma membranes, regulation of B-cell development, activation of transcription factors, intracellular trafficking and cell-surface targeting, synaptic transmission, and axonal outgrowth.

Chemokine (C-X-C motif) ligand (CXCL7) is a small cytokine belonging to the CXC chemokine family. It is a protein that is released in large amounts from platelets following their activation. It stimulates various processes including mitogenesis, synthesis of extracellular matrix, glucose metabolism and synthesis of plasminogen activator.

CCS is vital for the integration of copper into SOD-1, and as a result is needed for its enzymatic activity. CCS inhibits copper ions from binding to intracellular copper scavengers and provides the SOD-1 enzyme with the required copper cofactor. CCS escorts copper just to SOD-1 and is unable to deliver copper to proteins in the mitochondria, nucleus or secretory pathway. Although many tissues express CCS, the chaperone is most abundant in the kidney, liver and Purkinje cells in the neuropil of the central nervous system.

Complement Factor B, also known as CFB, encodes complement factor B which is a component of the alternative pathway of complement activation. Factor B circulates in the blood as a single chain polypeptide. Once the alternative pathway is activated it is cleaved by complement factor D yielding the noncatalytic chain Ba and the catalytic subunit Bb. The active subunit Bb is a serine protease which connects with C3b to form the alternative pathway C3 convertase. Also, Bb is involved in the proliferation of preactivated B lymphocytes, while Ba inhibits their proliferation.

Cofilin is a family of actin-binding proteins which disassembles actin filaments. It is a widely distributed intracellular actin-modulating protein that binds and depolymerizes filamentous F-actin and inhibits the polymerization of monomeric G-actin in a pH-dependent manner. It is involved in the translocation of actin-cofilin complex from cytoplasm to nucleus.

CKB is a cytoplasmic enzyme that takes part in energy homeostasis. CKB enzyme reversibly catalyzes the transfer of phosphate among ATP and various phosphogens such as creatine phosphate. CKB functions as a homodimer in the brain as well as in different tissues, and as a heterodimer with a similar muscle isozyme in heart. CD86 type I membrane protein is a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily which is expressed by antigen-presenting cells, and acts as the ligand for two proteins at the cell surface of T cells, CD28 antigen and cytotoxic T-lymphocyte-associated protein 4. CD86 binding with CD28 protein is a co-stimulatory signal for initiation of the T-cell. CD86 binding with CTLA-4 negatively regulates T-cell activation and diminishes the immune response.

Cadherin-5, also known as CDH5 is a classical cadherin which belongs to the cadherin superfamily. The CDH5is located in a six-cadherin cluster in a region on the long arm of chromosome 16 which is involved in loss ofheterozygosity events in breast as well as prostate cancer. CDH5 is a calcium-dependent cell-celladhesion glycoprotein composed of five extracellular cadherin repeats, a transmembrane region and a highlyconserved cytoplasmic tail. Furthermore, CDH5 functions as a classic cadherin by passing on to cells the ability to adhere in ahomophilic manner, CDH5 plays a significant role in endothelial cell biology through control of the cohesion as well as organization of the intercellular junctions.

Glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) is derived from the transcription product of the proglucagon gene. The major source of GLP-1 in the body is the intestinal L cell that secretes GLP-1 as a guthormone. The biologically active forms of GLP-1 are: GLP-1-(7-37) and GLP-1-(7-36)NH2.
GLP-1 secretion by L cells is dependent on the presence of nutrients in the lumen of the small intestine. The secretagogues (agents that causes or stimulates secretion) of this hormone include major nutrients like carbohydrate, proteinand lipid. Once in the circulation, GLP-1 has a half life of less than 2 minutes, due to rapid degradation by the enzyme dipeptidyl peptidase-4.

Oncostatin M is a member of a cytokine family that includes leukemia-inhibitory factor, granulocyte colony-stimulating factor, and interleukin 6. This gene encodes a growth regulator which inhibits the proliferation of a number of tumor cell lines. It regulates cytokine production, including IL-6, G-CSF and GM-CSF from endothelial cells.

TRIM21 is a member of the tripartite motif (TRIM) family. The TRIM motif includes three zinc-binding domains, a RING, a B-box type 1 and a B-box type 2, and a coiled-coil region. The 52 kDa Ro protein is part of the RoSSA ribonucleoprotein, which includes a single polypeptide and one of four small RNA molecules. The RoSSA particle localizes to both the cytoplasm and the nucleus. Ro/SSA interacts with autoantigens in patients with Sjogren syndrome and systemic lupus erythematosus. SARS Coronavirus is an enveloped virus containing three outer structural proteins, namely the membrane (M), envelope (E), and spike (S) proteins. Chemokine (C motif) ligand (XCL1) is a small cytokine belonging to the XC chemokine family that is also known as lymphotactin. It is found in high levels in spleen, thymus, intestine and peripheral blood leukocytes, and at lower levels in lung, prostate gland and ovary. Cellular sources for XCL1 include activated thymic and peripheral blood CD8+ T cells. This chemokine attracts T cells. In humans, XCL1 is closely related to another chemokine called XCL2, whose geneis found at the same locus on chromosome 1. XCL1 induces it chemotactic function by binding to a chemokine receptor called XCR1.

MBP is a major component of the myelin sheath of oligodendrocytes and Schwann cells in the nervous system, although, MBP-related transcripts are also present in the bone marrow and the immune system. These mRNAs emerge from the long MBP gene which holds three additional exons located upstream of the classic MBP exons. The Golli mRNAs contain three exons unique to Golli-MBP, spliced in-frame to one or more MBP exons. The second family of transcripts contains only MBP exons and produces the well characterized myelin basic proteins. MBP transcription unit is an essential part of the Golli transcription unit and the arrangement is important for the function and/or regulation of these genes.
