HMGB1 is an abundant chromatin-binding protein found in eukaryotic cell nucleus and acts in the assembly of nucleoprotein complexes. Inside the cell, HMGB1 binds to DNA and is involved in transcriptional regulation. Outside the cell, HMGB1 acts as a cytokine with activities that resemble those of tumor necrosis factor (TNF). HMGB1 is elevated significantly in chronic kidney disease patients and correlates with glomerular filtration rate as well as with markers of inflammation and malnutrition. HMGB1 is involved in Gram-negative sepsis by catalyzing movement of LPS monomers from LPS aggregates to CD14 to initiate a TLR4-mediated proinflammatory response. HMGB1 plays an important role in the relationship between necrosis and malignancy in glioma tumours. HMG1 protein is induced by Mycobacterium bovis BCG. Overexpression of HMGB1 is common in gastrointestinal stromal tumors and is related to the KIT mutation. HMG1 induces growth inhibition and apoptosis in macrophages through RAGE intracellular signaling pathway. The increase of extracellular HMGB1 observed in salivary glands of Sjogren's syndrome patients indicates that HMGB-1 is involved in the inflammatory process of the disease. HMGB-1 together with estrogen increase cell cycle progression in tumor cell lines.

Angiogenin (ANG) is a part of the RNase A family. ANG is an extremely effective mediator of new blood vessel formation. ANG Cleaves tRNA within anticodon loops in order to produce tRNA-derived stress-induced fragments (tiRNAs) that inhibit protein synthesis and trigger the assembly of stress granules. ANG is also stimulates ribosomal RNA synthesis. The interaction with RNH1 in vivo regulates the Angiogenic activity.

Transferrin is the iron-transport protein of vertebrate serum and donates iron to cells through interaction with a specific membrane receptor, CD71. Transferrin appears to be indispensable for most cells growing in tissue culture.
It is referred to frequently as a growth factor because, in analogy to other growth factor-receptor interactions, proliferating cells express high numbers of transferrin receptors, and the binding of transferrin to their receptors is needed for cells to initiate and maintain their DNA synthesis. Apart from its role as an iron transport protein transferrin acts as a cytokine and has functions that may not be related to its iron-carrying capacity.

ELAV Like Neuron-Specific RNA Binding Protein 2, also known as ELAVL2 is a neural-specific RNA-binding protein which is recognized with his ability to bind to several 3' UTRs, as well as its own and in addition those of FOS and ID. F-Box Protein 6, also known as FBXO6, is a part of the F-box protein family which is characterized by a roughly forty amino acid motif, the F-box. The F-box proteins are one of the 4 subunits of the ubiquitin protein ligase complex called SCFs (SKP1-cullin-F-box) that operates in phosphorylation-dependent ubiquitination. The F-box proteins are divided into three categories: Fbws containing WD-40 domains, Fbls containing leucine-rich repeats, and Fbxs containing different protein-protein interaction modules or no recognizable motifs. FBXO6 is a part of the Fbxs category, and its C-terminal area is very similar to that of rat NFB42 (neural F Box 42 kDa) which is involved in the control of the cell cycle.

Prefoldin subunit 3 (VBP1) is a member of the prefoldin subunit alpha family. VBP1 interacts with the Von Hippel-Lindau protein in order to create an intracellular complex. Since VBP1 serves as a chaperone protein, it is assumed to have a role in the transport of the Von Hippel-Lindau protein from the perinuclear granules to the nucleus or cytoplasm. Ectodysplasin A Receptor, also known as EDAR belongs to the tumor necrosis factor receptor family. EDAR is a receptor for the soluble ligand ectodysplasin A, and is capable of activating the nuclear factor-kappaB, JNK, as well as caspase-independent cell death pathways. EDAR is necessary for the development of hair, teeth, and other ectodermal derivatives. Nicotinamide riboside kinase 2 (ITGB1BP3) is a member of the uridine kinase family and NRK subfamily. ITGB1BP3 catalyzes the phosphorylation of nicotinic acid riboside and nicotinamide riboside to create nicotinic acid mononucleotide and nicotinamide mononucleotide. ITGB1BP3 reduces laminin matrix deposition and cell adhesion to laminin, but not to fibronectin. B2 microglobulin is an 11 kDa protein associated with the outer membrane of many cells including lymphocytes. It is the small subunit of the MHC class I molecule. Association with beta 2-microglobulin is generally required for the transport of class I heavy chains from the endoplasmic reticulum to the cell surface. ?2 microglobulin associates with class I-like molecules such as CD1 and Qa as well as with the alpha chain of MHC class I molecules. Very limited amounts of MHC class I molecules can be found on the surface in the absence of ?2 microglobulin. CD8 T cells cannot develop in the absence of MHC class I.

Native human C3 is a naturally glycosylated polypeptide containing two disulfide-linked chains. C3 is central to the activation of all 3 pathways of complement activation. Initiation of each pathway generates proteolytic enzyme complexes which binds the target surface. These enzymes cleave a peptide bond in C3 releasing the anaphylatoxin C3a and activating C3b. SIL1 is localized to endoplasmic reticulum (ER). SIL1 is an N-linked glycoprotein with an N-terminal ER targeting sequence, 2 putative N-glycosylation sites, and a C-terminal ER retention signal. Chromogranin-A Isoform 1 Preproprotein or CHGA is part of the neuroendocrine secretory proteins of the chromogranin/secretogranin family. CHGA is a precursor of numerus enzymes such as pancreastatin, catestatin, vasostatin-1,vasostatin-2, and parastatin. The protein acts as a negative regulator the neuroendocrine activity of autocrine or nearby cells (paracrine). CHGA causes further production of secretory granules that contains insulin in pancreatic islet beta cells.

S100 calcium binding protein A5 (S100A5) belongs to the S100 family of proteins containing 2 EF-hand calcium-binding motifs. S100 family members are localized in the cytoplasm and/or nucleus of a wide range of cells, and are involved in the regulation of a number of cellular processes such as cell cycle progression and differentiation. S100A5 has a Ca2+ affinity 20-100 fold higher than the other S100 proteins investigated under identical conditions. Furthermore, S100A5 protein binds Zn2+ and Cu2+, and Cu2+ strongly which harms the binding of Ca2+. S100A5 is expressed in very limited regions of the adult brain.
