Bromodomain Containing 3 (BRD3) was classified based on its homology to the gene encoding the RING3 protein, which is a serine/threonine kinase. The BRD3 protein localizes to 9q34, a region which contains a number of major histocompatibility complex (MHC) genes. The function of the BRD3 protein is unknown.

Tachykinin-3 belongs to the substance P-related tachykinin family. Tachykinins are active peptides that stimulate neurons, induce behavioral responses, are effective vasodilators and secretagogues, and contract (directly or indirectly) many smooth muscles. The FDCSP protein specifically binds to activated B cells, and serves as a regulator of antibody responses. FDCSP binds to the surface of B-lymphoma cells, but not T-lymphoma cells, which is consistent with a function as a secreted mediator acting upon B-cells. FDCSP is abundantly expressed in the tonsil, lymph node, and tracheam, having a strong expression in the prostate and a lower expression in the thyroid, stomach and colon.

CCL25 (Teck) is a novel CC chemokine, which is distantly related (about 20% amino acid sequence identity) to other CC chemokines. The mouse CCL25 cDNA has also been cloned and shown to encode a 144 a.a. protein, which exhibits 49% a.a. sequence identity to the human CCL25. Human and mouse CCL25 expression was shown to be greatly restricted to the thymus and small intestine. While dendritic cells are identified as the source of CCL25 production in the thymus, dendritic cells derived from bone marrow do not express CCL25. CCL25 signals through the CCR9 receptor.
