Hematological and neurological expressed 1 protein (HN1) is a small protein which is extremely preserved among species. HN1 expression is upregulated in regenerating neural tissues, including the axotomized adult rodent facial motor nerve and dedifferentiating retinal pigment epithelial cells of the Japanese newt. HN1 is also expressed in several tissues during embryonic development as well as in regions of the adult brain which display high plasticity.

Therefore, CXCL17 is suggested to have a role in tumor angiogenesis. The mature Rat CXCL17 shares 82%, 71% amino acid sequence identity with mouse, human CXCL17, respectively.

Intercellular Adhesion Molecule-5 or ICAM-5 is a glycoprotein, part of the immunoglobulin family and located in the cell membrane. Chemokine (C-X-C motif) ligand 10 (CXCL10) is a small cytokine belonging to the CXC chemokine family. CXCL10 is secreted by several cell types in response to IFN.
