MYL2 regulatory light chain is associated with cardiac myosin beta (or slow) heavy chain. Ca+ activates the phosphorylation of regulatory light chain that in turn activates contraction. Mutations in this MYL2 gene are related with mid-left ventricular chamber type hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. MYL2 is an essential protein that plays a role in the regulation of myosin ATPase activity in smooth muscle. MYL2 phosphorylation is regulated by ROCK and MLC kinase and is involved in platelet biogenesis by controlling proplatelet formation and fragmentation.

There are several proteolytic fragments or specific domains of proteins that act as inhibitors of angiogenesis. These include fragments of plasminogen such as Angiostatin protein kringles 1-4 and kringles 1-5, Endostatin, Restin, PEX, the N-terminal fragment of prolactin, and the Nterminally truncated platelet factor. Angiostatin is a proteolytic protein fragment of plasminogen that is comprised of the first 4 kringle regions. Angiostatin k1-4 prevents the growth of endothelial cells, and its systemic administration inhibits the growth of primary carcinomas in mice. Angiostatin Kringles 1-3 segment has a larger inhibitory activity than the Angiostatin kringles 1-4 fragment. The protease-activated angiostatin kringles 1-5 is the most potent plasminogen fragment with over 50 times larger endothelial cell specific inhibitory activity. Angiostatin kringles 1-5 systemic administration inhibits growth of fibrosarcoma and significantly reduces neovascularization.
Angiostatin is an angiogenesis inhibitor in mouse serum and urine. Angiostatin is a 38 kDa protein fragment of the plasminogen composed of the 1st 4 kringle domains of plasminogen. Angiostatin K1-4 is also named plasminogen kringles 1-4 and PK1-4.
Angiostatin protein is manufactured by the protelytic cleavage of plasminogen by a serine protease from several prostate carcinoma cell lines. The manufacturing of angiostatin by pancreatic cancer cells can be inhibited by TGF-beta 1 along with plasminogen activator inhibitor type-1 (PAI1). -

Introduction
Babesiosis is a disease caused by apicomplexan parasites of the Babesia genus. The Babesia microti life cycle involves 2 hosts, which include a rodent, mainly the white-footed mouse (Peromyscus leucopus) and a tick in the Ixodes genus. During a blood meal, a Babesia-infected tick introduces sporozoites into the mouse host. Sporozoites pass into the erythrocytes and undergo asexual reproduction (budding). In the blood, some parasites differentiate into male and female gametes, though these cannot be distinguished by light microscopy. The definitive host is the tick. Once ingested by an proper tick, gametes unite and undergo a sporogonic cycle resulting in sporozoites. Transovarial transmission (aka vertical or hereditary transmission) has been detected for "large" Babesia species but not for the "small" Babesia, such as B. microti. Humans enter the cycle when bitten by the infected ticks. Thus during a blood meal, a Babesia-infected tick introduces sporozoites into the human host. Sporozoites then enter erythrocytes and undergo asexual replication (budding). Multiplication of the blood-stage parasites is responsible for the clinical manifestations of the disease. Humans typically are dead-end hosts. However, human-to-human transmission is well acknowledged to occur via contaminated blood transfusions.

Complement Factor B, also known as CFB, encodes complement factor B which is a component of the alternative pathway of complement activation. Factor B circulates in the blood as a single chain polypeptide. Once the alternative pathway is activated it is cleaved by complement factor D yielding the noncatalytic chain Ba and the catalytic subunit Bb. The active subunit Bb is a serine protease which connects with C3b to form the alternative pathway C3 convertase. REG protein was shown to be stimulated during the regeneration of pancreatic islets. Since then, many Reg-related proteins have been identified in humans and other animals. In human, the four REG family genes, i.e., REG 1 alpha, REG 1 beta, REG-related sequence (RS) and HIP/PAP, have so far been isolated. These Reg-related proteins are classified into four subfamilies according to their amino-acid sequences, but they share a similar structure and physiological function. Reg protein is a growth factor for pancreatic beta cells and also suggests that the administration of Reg protein could be used as another therapeutic approach for diabetes mellitus. Human REG cDNA which encodes a 166-amino acid protein with a 22-amino acid signal peptide. The amino acid sequence of human REG protein has 68% homology to that of rat Reg protein.
Reg I was found to be expressed mainly in pancreatic beta and acinoductular cells as well as gastric fundic enterochromaffin-like (ECL) cells. Reg I production in ECL cells is stimulated by gastrin, as well as by the proinflammatory cytokine, cytokine-induced neutrophil chemoattractant (CINC)-2Beta. In patients with chronic hypergastrinemia, Reg production is stimulated, with the increased proliferation of gastric mucosal cells. Patients with Helicobacter pylori infection also showed increased Reg production in the gastric mucosa, partly via increased plasma gastrin concentration and partly via increased proinflammatory cytokine production. The serum concentration of the reg-protein was significantly higher in patients with various pancreatic diseases than in normal controls, and was also significantly higher in patients with acute pancreatitis or chronic relapsing pancreatitis than in patients with chronic pancreatitis. Furthermore, the serum PSP/reg-protein concentration was also significantly increased in liver cirrhosis, choledocholithiasis, and various cancers of the digestive system. -
