TCEAL3 belongs to the transcription elongation factor A (SII)-like (TCEAL) gene family. TCEAL family members hold TFA domains and operate as nuclear phosphoproteins which control transcription in a promoter context-dependent fashion. Various family members are situated in the X chromosome.

MAGE belongs to the MAGE gene family, that comprises 12 known genes, of which 6 are expressed in tumors. The Melanoma-associated antigen 3 genes were originally isolated from different kinds of tumors, and based on their virtually limited tumor-specific expression in adult tissues, they were used as targets for cancer immunotherapy. MAGEA3 is a tumor-specific antigen extensively expressed in solid and hematologic malignancies, but not in normal tissues, with the exclusion of testis and placenta. Consequently, MAGEA3 is an outstanding candidate tumor antigen.

TAGLN3 holds a putative Actin-binding domain, two potential phosphorylation sites, two EF-hand motifs and a calponin-homology (CH) domain. TAGLN3 is homologic to transgelin and calponin, two cytoskeleton-interacting proteins. TAGLN3 is a member of the calponin family, and is co-localized with Actin and tubulin, which indicates that TAGLN3 has a part in neuronal plasticity or as a signaling protein. As a result of a wide-ranging expression pattern, TAGLN3 is able to take different roles in the developing and adult brain.

Ras GTPase-activating protein-binding protein 2 (G3BP2) is restricted to the plasma membrane and endocytic compartments and controls a fast endocytic recycling pathway. G3BP2 may be a scaffold protein which might be involved in mRNA transport.

DLX3 belongs to the Distal-less (Dlx) family of genes which includes at least 6 different members. DLX3 plays a regulatory role in the development of the ventral forebrain and also in craniofacial patterning and morphogenesis. Mutation in DLX3 is correlated with Trichodentoosseous syndrome which is an autosomal dominant condition. DLX3 is located in a tail-to-tail configuration with another member of the gene family on the long arm of chromosome 17.

Calreticulin 3 (CALR3) belongs to the calreticulin (CRT) family which consists of calcium binding chaperones that are localized to the endoplasmic reticulum or sarcoplasmic reticulum in eukaryotes. CALR3, which is expressed mainly in testis, takes part in protein-folding, oligomeric assembly and quality control in the ER. CALR3 plays an important role as a cancer-testis antigen due to its frequent expression in many cancers.

Semaphorin-4D (CD100) is a member of the semaphorin family containing 1 Ig-like C2-type domain, 1 PSI domain and 1 Sema domain. CD100 is the cell surface receptor forPLXN1B and PLXNB2 which plays a central role in cell-cell signaling. CD100 stimulates the migration of cerebellar granule cells and of endothelial cells, regulates dendrite and axon branching and morphogenesis. Adiponectin, also referred to as Acrp30, AdipoQ and GBP-28, is a recently discovered 244 amino acid protein, the product of the apM1 gene, which is physiologically active and specifically and highly expressed in adipose cells (Adipokine). Eukaryotic translation initiation factor 3, subunit I (EIF3I) is part of the eukaryotic translation initiation factor 3 (eIF-3) complex, which is essential for numerous steps in the initiation of protein synthesis. RND3 is a small GTPase which is part of the Ras superfamily that controls the association of the actin cytoskeleton in reaction to extracellular growth factors.
