Single-Stranded DNA Binding Protein 1 (SSBP) participates in mitochondrial biogenesis. SSBP binds preferentially and cooperatively to ss-DNA. The SSBP protein is involved in mitochondrial DNA replication and associates with mitochondrial DNA.

SNRPB is one of several nuclear proteins which are found in common among U1, U2, U4/U6, and U5 small ribonucleoprotein particles (snRNPs). These snRNPs are involved in pre-mRNA splicing, and the SNRPB protein may also have a role in pre-mRNA splicing or snRNP structure. SNRPB binds to the downstream cleavage product (DCP) of histone pre-mRNA in a U7 snRNP dependent manner. SNRPB functions in the U7 snRNP complex which is involved in histone 3'-end processing.

Therefore, SNAP25 product is a presynaptic plasma membrane protein involved in the regulation of neurotransmitter release. The synaptosomal-associated protein (SNAP-25) is an essential component of the core complex that mediates presynaptic vesicle trafficking. Thus, SNAP-25 is directly involved in the release of neurotransmitters.

Myelin Protein Zero-Like 1 (MPZL1) is a cell surface receptor, which is involved in signal transduction processes. MPZL1 recruits PTPN11/SHP-2 to the cell membrane and is a putative substrate of PTPN11/SHP-2. MPZL1 is a main receptor for concanavalin-A (ConA) and it is involved in cellular signaling induced by ConA, which most likely includes Src family tyrosine-protein kinases. MPZL1 Isoform 3 appears to have a dominant negative role by blocking tyrosine phosphorylation of MPZL1 induced by ConA. Isoform 1, but not isoform 2 and isoform 3, might be involved in regulation of integrin-mediated cell motility.

STE20-Related Kinase Adaptor Alpha (STRADA) is a part of the STE- 20 like kinase family which stimulates MAPK pathways by activating MAPKKK. STRADA is an upstream activator of LKB1 and also leads the sub-cellular localization of LKB1 by fixing it in the cytoplasm. The interaction between STRADA-LKB1 leads to phosphorylation of STRADA and enhanced autophosphorylation of LKB1.

GADD45B is part of the nuclear proteins to interact with various proteins whose transcript levels are raised after stressful growth arrest conditions and treatment with DNA-damaging agents. GADD45B reacts to environmental stresses by mediating activation of the p38/JNK pathway which is mediated through their protein binding and activating MTK1/MEKK4 kinase, which is an upstream activator of both p38 and JNK MAPKs. GADD45B is involved in the regulation of growth and apoptosis. GADD45b takes part during chondrocyte terminal differentiation and mediates MMP-13 gene expression. GADD45 in B cells is induced by CD40 via a mechanism that involves NF-kappa B and that induction suppresses Fas-mediated killing. GADD45b is down-regulated in most cases of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), and is a molecular marker in the diagnosis of HCC and as a possible therapeutic target.

Ras association domain-containing protein 3 (RASSF3) is a ubiquitously expressed protein found in normal and cancerous tissues. RASSF3 is a member of RASSF family whose members contain a highly conserved Ras association domain (Ral GDS/AF-6 or RA) and function as Ras effectors/tumor suppressors. RASSF3 contains an N-terminal RA domain and a coiled-coil SARAH domain and may have 3 isoforms (RASSF3A, RASSF3B and RASSF3C) due to alternative splicing. RASSF3B and RASSF3C are shorter than RASSF3A and do not contain the RA and SARAH domain.

Activins are homodimers or heterodimers of the different β subunit isoforms, part of the TGFβ family. Mature Activin A has two 116 amino acids residues βA subunits (βA-βA). Activin displays an extensive variety of biological activities, including mesoderm induction, neural cell differentiation, bone remodelling, haematopoiesis, and reproductive physiology. Activins takes part in the production and regulation of hormones such as FSH, LH, GnRH and ACTH. Cells that are identified to express Activin A include fibroblasts, endothelial cells, hepatocytes, vascular smooth muscle cells, macrophages, keratinocytes, osteoclasts, bone marrow monocytes, prostatic epithelium, neurons, chondrocytes, osteoblasts, Leydig cells, Sertoli cells, and ovarian granulosa cells.

Collagen, a major component of the extracellular matrix, is a fibrous protein that provides tensile strength to tissues giving them structural integrity. Collagen and its derivative, gelatin, have been widely used in medical, pharmaceutical and consumer products for more than 100 years. The supply of these materials, created from animal remains, is both abundant and inexpensive. However, most formulations are not highly purified and have the potential to cause an inflammatory reaction in some product users. In addition, concerns have been raised over the last several years about the potential for contamination of bovine products with the agent that causes mad cow disease and its human variant, Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease. Animal collagens are subject to extensive modifications that continue over the life of the molecule in the extracellular space. These differences influence both the extractability of collagens from tissue and the biophysical characteristics of these collagens. As a result, collagens isolated from tissues exhibit significant lot-to-lot variability and, as bulk materials, are often analytically intractable. Products that contain animal-derived collagen can induce potentially harmful inflammatory or immune responses in humans and pose risk of contamination with viruses or prions, potentially life-threatening pathogens. Recombinant collagens are essentially identical to the native collagen protein thereby reducing the risk of inflammation, immune response, and disease as compared to animal-sourced collagen.

DDB1-and CUL4-associated factor (DCAF7) is involved in craniofacial development. S100 proteins are localized in the cytoplasm/nucleus of a broad range of cells, and takes part in the regulation of several cellular processes such as cell cycle progression and differentiation. S100A3 has the largest number of cysteines of all S100 proteins. S100A3 has high affinity for Zinc, and is widely expressed in human hair cuticle.

PDCD1 is a cell surface membrane protein of the immunoglobulin superfamily. PDCD1 is expressed in pro-B-cells and is thought to have a role in their differentiation. In mice, expression of PDCD1 gene is induced in the thymus when anti-CD3 antibodies are injected and large numbers of thymocytes undergo apoptosis. Mice deficient for the PDCD1 gene bred on a BALB/c background developed dilated cardiomyopathy and died from congestive heart failure. These studies suggest that the PDCD1 gene product may also be important in T cell function and contribute to the prevention of autoimmune diseases.

Sclerostin Domain Containing 1 (SOSTDC1) belongs to the sclerostin family and an N-glycosylated, secreted protein with a C-terminal cystine knot-like domain. The SOSTDC1 protein acts as a bone morphogenetic protein (BMP) antagonist. Specifically, SOSTDC1 directly associates with BMPs, prohibiting them from binding their receptors, thus regulating BMP signaling throughout cellular proliferation, differentiation, and programmed cell death. SOSTDC1 may also be involved in the onset of endometrial receptivity for implantation/sensitization for the decidual cell reaction Enhances Wnt signaling and hinders TGF-beta signaling. Amino-terminal enhancer of split (AES) is a member of the groucho/TLE family of proteins. AES can function as a homooligomer or as a heteroologimer with other family members in order to forcefully repress the expression of other family member genes. Furthermore, AES can repress NFkB-regulated gene expression and is believed to have a significant role in initiating and maintaining cell differentiation events. AES is similar in sequence to the amino terminus of Drosophila enhancer of split groucho, a protein which is involved in neurogenesis during embryonic development. The AES protein is expressed predominately in the fetal brain, liver, lung, heart and kidney and also in the adult muscle.
