Recombinant Fatty Acid Binding Protein is a newly introduced plasma marker of acute myocardial infarction (AMI). The plasma kinetics of FABP (15kD) closely resemble those of myoglobin in that elevated plasma concentrations are found within 2 hours after AMI and return to normal generally within 18 to 24 hours. But the concentration of FABP in the skeletal muscle is 20 times lower than in cardiac tissue (for myoglobin the same content for cardiac and skeletal tissue), that makes FABP to be more cardiac specific than myoglobin. This makes FABP a useful biochemical marker for the early assessment or exclusion of AMI. FABP also appears to be a useful plasma marker for the estimation of myocardial infarct size.

Cytochrome C Oxidase Subunit Va (COX5A) is a member of the cytochrome c oxidase subunit 5A family. COX (Cytochrome C Oxidase), which is the terminal component of the mitochondrial respiratory chain, catalyzes the electron transfer from reduced Cytochrome C to oxygen. The COX component is a heteromeric complex comprised of three catalytic subunits encoded by mitochondrial genes and multiple structural subunits encoded by nuclear genes. The mitochondrially-encoded subunits serve in electron transfer, and the nuclear-encoded subunits act in the regulation and assembly of the complex. COX5A is the heme A-containing chain of Cytochrome C Oxidase,which is the terminal oxidase in mitochondrial electron transport.

Peroxiredoxin 6 (PRDX6) belongs to the thiol-specific antioxidant protein family. PRDX6 is a bifunctional enzyme with 2 distinct active sites. PRDX6 is involved in redox regulation of the cell and can reduce Hydrogen peroxide and short chain organic, fatty acid, and phospholipid hydroperoxides. PRDX6 may have a role in the regulation of phospholipid turnover as well as in protection against oxidative injury. Furthermore, PRDX6 eases the oxidative stress and TGF-beta-induced abnormalities of human trabecular meshwork cells. In addition, PRDX6 is necessary for blood vessel integrity in injured skin.

Entry of HSV into the host cell involves interactions of several viral glycoproteins with cell surface receptors. The virus particle is covered by an envelope which, when bound to specific receptors on the cell surface, will fuse with the cell membrane and create an opening, or pore, through which the virus enters the host cell. The sequential stages of HSV entry are analagous to those of other viruses. At first, complementary receptors on the virus and cell surface bring the two membranes into proximity. In an intermediate state, the two membranes begin to merge, forming a hemifusion state. Finally, a stable entry pore is formed through which the viral envelope contents are introduced to the host cell.

Cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitor 1B (CDKN1B) is a member of the Cip/Kip family of cyclin dependent kinase (Cdk) inhibitor proteins. The CDKN1B protein binds to and prevents the activation of cyclin E-CDK2 or cyclin D-CDK4 complexes, and so controls the cell cycle progression at G1. CDKN1B is often referred to as a cell cycle inhibitor protein since its major function is to stop or slow down the cell division cycle. Zika virus (ZIKV) belongs to the family Flaviviridae and the genus Flavivirus, it is transmitted by daytime-active Aedes mosquitoes, such as A. aegypti and A. albopictus. The Zika virus is related to the dengue, yellow fever, Japanese encephalitis, and West Nile viruses. Much like the other flaviviruses, Zika virus is enveloped and icosahedral and has a nonsegmented, single-stranded, positive-sense RNA genome. Zika fever is an infection, which often causes no symptoms or only mild ones, like a mild form of dengue fever, and it is treated by rest. As of February 2016, there has been mounting evidence that Zika fever in pregnant women can cause abnormal brain development in their fetuses by mother-to-child transmission, which may result in miscarriage or microcephaly, however it is not yet known whether Zika virus causes microcephaly. Furthermore, a connection has been established with neurologic conditions in infected adults, including Guillain–Barre syndrome.

Microfibrillar-associated protein 4 (MFAP4) is a member of Fibrinogen protein family and contains 1 fibrinogen C-terminal domain. The MFAP4 protein has similarity to a bovine microfibril-associated protein. MFAP4 has binding specificities for both collagen and carbohydrate. MFAP4 is believed to be an extracellular matrix protein that is involved in cell adhesion or intercellular interactions. MFAP4 deletion was found in 30 of 31 Smith-Magenis syndrome (SMS) patients.

Four And A Half LIM Domains 2 (FHL2) belongs to the four-and-a-half-LIM-only protein family. Family members are comprised of 2 highly conserved, tandemly arranged, zinc finger domains with 4 highly conserved cysteines binding a zinc atom in each zinc finger. The FHL2 protein is assumed to play a part in the assembly of extracellular membranes. Cytokeratin 5 (KRT5) belongs to the keratin gene family. The type II cytokeratins are comprised of basic or neutral proteins which are arranged in pairs of heterotypic keratin chains coexpressed throughout differentiation of simple and stratified epithelial tissues. The type II cytokeratins are clustered in a region of chromosome 12q12-q13. The KRT5 type II cytokeratin is specifically expressed in the basal layer of the epidermis with family member KRT14. Mutations in these genes are linked with a complex of diseases termed epidermolysis bullosa simplex.
