      TEN1 is part of a complex that binds to single-stranded DNA and is necessary in order to protect telomeres from DNA degradation (CST complex). The CST complex binds single-stranded DNA with high affinity in a sequence-independent mode, while isolated subunits bind DNA with low affinity by themselves. Further to telomere protection, the CST complex has most likely a more general part in DNA metabolism at non-telomeric sites.

      ECH1 is a member of the hydratase/isomerase superfamily. ECH1 demonstrates high sequence similarity to enoyl-coenzyme A (CoA) hydratases of more than a few species, mostly within a conserved domain characteristic of these proteins. ECH1 contains a C-terminal peroxisomal targeting sequence, localizes to both the peroxisome and the mitochondria. peroxisomal takes part in the auxiliary step of the fatty acid beta-oxidation pathway specifically functioning to catalyze the isomerization of 3-trans, 5-cis-dienoyl-CoA to 2-trans, 4-transdienoyl-CoA.

    • Introduction

      Recoverin is a member of the recoverin family of neuronal calcium sensors. Recoverin is a heterogeneously acylated calcium-binding and intracellular signal transduction 23kDa protein in the photoreceptor cells of retina. Recoverin contains four EF-hands, of which two bind Ca. Ca-induced extrusion of the acyl group from a hydrophobic cleft in the protein drives the translocation of recoverin from solution to the disc membrane. Recoverin may prolong the termination of the phototransduction cascade in the retina by blocking the phosphorylation of photo-activated rhodopsin. Recoverin plays a key role in the inhibition of rhodopsin kinase, a molecule that regulates the phosphorylation of rhodopsin. This in due course controls the ability of the eye to adapt to, and recover from, exposure to the presence of light. Recoverin is a detectable serologic protein that is expressed in patients with cancer-associated retinopathy, a paraneoplastic syndrome.

    Hyaluronidase is an enzyme that temporarily and reversibly breaks down the polysaccharide, hyaluronic acid, which is found between the cells of connective tissue. Hyaluronic acid may be thought of as the "glue" that holds cells together. Hyaluronic acid is a mucopolysaccharide that exists in the human tissue matrix. It can constrain the diffusion of the extracellular fluid. Hyaluronidase makes the glucoseamine of the hyaluronic acid molecules hydrolyzed and depolymerized, thus decreases the viscosity of the body fluids and increases the flow and diffusion of the intercellular fluids. In this way the physic liquor, exudates or blood in local areas can be more easily diffused, and the drug can be more easily absorbed. Thus the local tissue tension and pains can be relieved. And it will also be easier for the edema and inflammatory exudates to be absorbed and dissolved. This product is a basic component of the articular cartilage. It can nourish, protect and maintain the functions of the joints.

    • Introduction

      C1q is the first component of the classical pathway of complement activation. C1q along with the enzymatically active components C1r and C1s forms the C1 complex. When C1 binds to immunoglobulins in the form of immune complexes, it leads to activation of C1r and C1s proteases and a further activates the classical pathway of complement.
      C1q is a glycoprotein that belongs to the collectin family, having a molecular weight of about 410-462 kDa. C1q is a hexamer composed of globular heads attached to collagen-like triple-helix tails. The globular heads of C1q exclusively bind to the CH2 domain of IgG molecules or the CH3 domain of IgM. Each heavy chain of the immunoglobulin molecule contains a single binding site for C1q. Given that C1q must bind to no less than two heavy chains in order to alter its conformation and activate C1r and C1s, its activation follows only after binding to immunoglobulins in the form of immune complexes bound to multivalent antigens. C1q’s main physiological role is in the clearance of immune complexes and apoptotic bodies from the organism. Interruption of this process may lead to development of autoimmunity. Individuals with genetic deficiencies of C1q or other components of the classical pathway are at risk to develop SLE. C1q specifically binds to apoptotic bodies of human keratinocytes, vascular endothelial cells and lymphocytes. Complement components C1q and bound C3 mediate the clearance of apoptotic bodies. Hence, C1q may advance the clearance of autoantigens, avoiding stimulation of the immune system. Nonetheless, an extended exposition of the immune system to the neoepitope exposed on C1q molecules bound to immune complexes or apoptotic bodies could ultimately lead to an autoimmune response against C1q itself and to an altered complement function. C1q deficiency may also lead to disruption of the negative selection of autoreactive B cells. C1q along with other specific recognition proteins bind to the highly conserved lupus antigens (dsDNA and nuclear proteins) and activate the complement system. Autoantibodies against C1q (anti-C1q) are found in a number of autoimmune and infectious diseases like glomerulonephritis (GN) and lupus erythematosus (SLE), these antibodies are significant in clinical practice due to their negative predictive value.

      Calbindin 1 (CALB1) is a calcium binding protein that is a member of the troponin C superfamily. CALB1 plays a vital role in calcium regulation (including calcium transport and uptake, calcification of bone and teeth) and calcium associated signaling in neurons and transiently in embryological development. CALB1 also has a role in protecting neurons from apoptotic cell death. CALB1 buffers cytosolic calcium and may stimulate a membrane Ca2+-ATPase and a 3',5'-cyclic nucleotide phosphodiesterase. The biological function of CALB1 seems to be tied to the redox state of its five cysteine residues.
      CALB1 has 4 active calcium-binding domains, and 2 modified domains that seemingly have lost their calcium-binding ability. CALB1 is expressed in neural tissues. In the brain, the CALB1 synthesis is independent of vitamin-D-derived hormones.
      Disregulation of the CALB1 is associated with epilepsy, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, Huntington's disease. The neurons in brains of Huntington disease patients are calbindin-depleted.
