NDK (Nucleoside diphosphate kinase) exists as a hexamer composed of 'A' (encoded by NME1) and 'B' (encoded by NME2) isoforms. NME1 is involved in cell proliferation, differentiation and development, signal transduction, G protein-coupled receptor endocytosis, and gene expression. It also has tumor metastasis-suppressive capacity. NME1 has a key role in the synthesis of nucleoside triphosphates other than ATP. NME1 is essential for neural development including neural patterning and cell future determination.
The NME1 gene is expressed in various tumor types where its levels have been alternatively linked to reduced or increased metastatic potential.
Decrease in NME1 expression is notably connected to aggressive behavior in melanoma, breast, colon, and gastric carcinomas. In contrast, elevated levels of NME1 gene expression are noted in the advanced stage of thyroid carcinomas.
Somatic mutations of the NME1 gene are found in neuroblastoma. Increased NME1 in neuroblastoma is linked to features of the disease that are associated with aggressive tumors.

Proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA), a protein of 30 kDa molecular weight also known as cyclin, forms a trimer ring around a DNA double-helix. It binds to a variety of other nuclear proteins and thereby organises biochemical processes at the DNA replication fork. PCNA thereby assumes important functions in DNA synthesis, repair and processing, the regulation of cell cycle and even apoptosis.

Prepronociceptin (PNOC) is the ligand of the opioid receptor-like receptor (OPRL1). PNOC functions as a transmitter in the brain by modulating nociceptive and locomotor behavior. The PNOC protein may also be involved in neuronal differentiation and development.

Translin is a DNA and RNA binding protein that identifies specifically preserved target sequences at the breakpoint junction of chromosomal translocations. TSN forms a ring-shaped configuration, that is in charge of DNA binding, and in addition has a leucine zipper motif, which is believed to assist TSN to form dimers. Legumain, also known as LGMN is a lysosomal cysteine protease which is found in all mouse tissues, however it was mainly abundant in the kidney as well as placenta. LGMN plays an essential role in the endosomal/lysosomal degradation system as the Legumain deficiency causes the accumulation of pro cathepsins B, H & L, another group of lysosomal cysteine proteases. Geminin is a 25 kDa nuclear protein, which inhibits DNA replication and is degraded during the mitotic phase of the cell cycle. Geminin controls replication by binding to the licensing factor Cdt1, and is involved in neural differentiation. In addition, Geminin directly interacts with Six3 and Hox homeodomain proteins during embryogenesis and inhibits their functions. Geminin can also promote DNA replication. Geminin has 2 roles in 2 different stages of the cell cycle: Geminin is a negative regulator of DNA replication during the “S phase” of the cell cycle. Inhibition of Geminin during the “S phase” (by RNAi) results in an additional round of replication of portions of the genome. During the “M phase” of the cell cycle (mitosis) Geminin stabilizes the replication factor Cdt1 promoting DNA replication during the next cell cycle. Moreover, inhibition of Geminin during mitosis (by RNAi) causes destabilization of Cdt1 protein and impairment of DNA replication during the next cell cycle. Geminin thus guarantees that only one round of replication occurs during each cell cycle. It was discovered that Geminin is overexpressed in a number of malignancies and cancer cell lines. PTHrP is a powerful and discriminating agonist of PTH2R which takes part in adenyl cyclase activation and intracellular calcium levels elevation. Recoverin is a member of the recoverin family of neuronal calcium sensors. Recoverin contains four EF-hands, of which two bind Ca.
