Cell division protein kinase 5 (CDK5) belongs to the cyclin-dependent kinase family. CDK5 is essential for appropriate development of the brain and in order to be activated CDK5 must link to CDK5R1 or CDK5R2. CDK5 doesn't need phosphorylation on the T loop so that binding with the activator is enough to activate the kinase. CDK5 is engaged in the processes of neuronal maturation and migration, phosphorylating the central intracellular adaptor of the reeling signaling chain.

TXNRD1 belongs to the selenium-containing pyridine nucleotide-disulphide oxidoreductase family, which has a conserved catalytic site of Cys-Val-Asn-Val-Gly-Cys. TXNRD1 decreases thioredoxins as well as other substrates, and participates in selenium metabolism and protection against oxidative stress. Inhibition of TXNRD1 activity serves as a potential treatment for cancer, AIDS and other autoimmune diseases as well as bacterial infections and parasitic diseases.

TNF-related apoptosis-inducing ligand (TRAIL) is a ligand molecule which induces apoptosis. It is a type II transmembrane protein with homology to other members of the tumor necrosis factor family.

Ketohexokinase is found in liver, renal cortex, and small intestine. Its deficiency causes the benign hereditary metabolic disorder essential fructosuria, leading to fructose being excreted in the urine. Ketohexokinase-dependent metabolism of fructose induces proinflammatory mediators in proximal tubular cells. ketohexokinase plays an unknown physiologic function that remains intact in essential fructosuria. Ketohexokinase expression is reduceed in human clear cell type of renal cell carcinoma.

KRT20 is a member of the keratin family. The keratins are intermediate filament proteins responsible for the structural integrity of epithelial cells and are subdivided into cytokeratins and hair keratins. The type I cytokeratins consist of acidic proteins which are arranged in pairs of heterotypic keratin chains. This cytokeratin is a major cellular protein of mature enterocytes and goblet cells and is specifically expressed in the gastric and intestinal mucosa. The type I cytokeratin genes are clustered in a region of chromosome 17q12-q21.

In B cells, CD81 is part of a complex with CD21, CD19 and Leu13. Furthermore, this complex decreases the threshold for B cell activation through B cell receptors by linking Ag specific recognition and CD21 mediator recognition. While on T cells CD81 connects with CD4 and CD8 and provides a costimulatory signal with CD3.
