The retinoid X receptor (RXR) is a pleiotropic nuclear receptor transcription factor that interacts with a variety of nuclear receptor dimeric partner. RXR binds cognate response elements as a homodimer in the presence of its ligand, 9-cis retinoic acid, or as a heterodimer with other members of the nuclear hormone receptor superfamily including retinoic acid receptors (RAR), thyroid hormone receptors (TR), vitamin D receptors and peroxisome proliferators-activated receptors (PPAR). The RXR family includes three different isoforms; RXR a, b, g . Human RXR a gene is localized on 9q34.9 and encodes two major isoforms (RXR a1, RXR a2). The DNA binding domain of RXR (111-228aa) was purified by using conventional column chromatography techniques.

Human Ubquitin-conjugating enzyme 7 (UbcH7) is a ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme (E2) mediating c-fos degradation, transcription factor NF-B maturation, and human papilloma virus-mediated p53 and Myc protein degradation, in vitro. The ubiquitin-conjugating enzymes (E2s) are essential components of the post-translational protein ubiquitination pathway, mediating the transfer of activated ubiquitin to substrate proteins. The human UBE2L1-UBE2L4 gene could potentially encode different isoforms of the UbcH7. UBE2L3 gene, located at chromosome 22q11.2, is the only identical family member with introns and encodes a polypeptide sequence identical to that of UbcH7.

EFNB1 is a member of the Eph family. The cell-surface proteins Ephrins split into two groups, ephrin-A and ephrin-B, based on their structure and function and perform as ligands for Eph receptors. The transmembrane EFNB1 proteins have conserved cytoplasmic tyrosine residues that are phosphorylated upon interaction with an EphB receptor. In addition, EFNB1 transduces outside-in signals by C-terminal protein interfaces which influence integrin-mediated cell attachment and migration.

Chemokine (C-C motif) ligand 19 (CCL19) is a small cytokine belonging to the CC chemokine family that is also known as EBI1 ligand chemokine (ELC) and macrophage inflammatory protein-3-beta (MIP-3-beta). CCL19 is expressed abundantly in thymus and lymph nodes, with moderate levels in trachea and colon and low levels in stomach, small intestine, lung, kidney and spleen. The gene for CCL19 is located on human chromosome 9. This chemokine elicits its effects on its target cells by binding to the chemokine receptor chemokine receptor CCR7. It attracts certain cells of the immune system, including dendritic cells and antigen-engaged B cells.

Macrophage Inflammatory Proteins (MIP) belong to the family of chemotactic cytokines known as chemokines. In humans, there are two major forms, MIP-1a and MIP-1b that are now officially named CCL3 and CCL4 respectively. Both are major factors produced by macrophages after they are stimulated with bacterial endotoxins. They activate human granulocytes (neutrophils, eosinophils and basophils) which can lead to acute neutrophilic inflammation. They also induce the synthesis and release of other pro-inflammatory cytokines such as interleukin 1 (IL-1), IL-6 and TNF-a from fibroblasts and macrophages. The genes for CCL3 and CCL4 are both located on human chromosome 17.

B cell-activating factor (BAFF) enhances B-cell survival in vitro and is a regulator of the peripheral B-cell population. Overexpression of Baff in mice results in mature B-cell hyperplasia and symptoms of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Also, some SLE patients have increased levels of BAFF in serum. Therefore, it has been proposed that abnormally high levels of BAFF may contribute to the pathogenesis of autoimmune diseases by enhancing the survival of autoreactive B cells. The protein encoded by this gene is a receptor for BAFF and is a type III transmembrane protein containing a single extracellular cysteine-rich domain. It is thought that this receptor is the principal receptor required for BAFF-mediated mature B-cell survival.

Interleukin-1 ra is a member of the interleukin 1 cytokine family. This protein inhibits the activities of interleukin 1, alpha (IL1A) and interleukin 1, beta (IL1B), and modulates a variety of interleukin 1 related immune and inflammatory responses. This gene and five other closely related cytokine genes form a gene cluster spanning approximately 400 kb on chromosome 2. A polymorphism of this gene is reported to be associated with increased risk of osteoporotic fractures and gastric cancer. Four alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been reported.

Chemokine (C-C motif) ligand 1 (CCL1) is a small glycoprotein secreted by activated T cells that belongs to a family inflammatory cytokines known as chemokines. CCL1 attracts monocytes, NK cells, and immature B cells and dendritic cells by interacting with a cell surface chemokine receptor called CCR8. This chemokine resides in a large cluster of CC chemokines on human chromosome 17.

Mitochondrial Ribosomal Protein L2 (MRPL2) is a 39S subunit protein which is a member of the EcoL2 ribosomal protein family.

Argininosuccinate lyase (ASL) is a member of the lyase 1 family. ASL is an enzyme which catalyzes the reversible breakdown of Argininosuccinate (ASA) yielding the amino acids arginine and fumarate. ASL which is located in the liver cytosol is the 4th enzyme of the urea cycle and involved in the biosynthesis of arginine in all species and the production of urea in ureotelic species. While Argininosuccinate synthetase (ASS) catalyzes the formation of argininosuccinate from citrulline and aspartate, ASL breaks down the newly formed argininosuccinate into L-arginine and fumarate. L-arginine continues within the urea cycle to form urea and orinthine, whereas fumarate can enter the citric acid cycle. ASL gene Mutations result in the autosomal recessive disorder argininosuccinic aciduria, or argininosuccinic acid lyase deficiency.

SRM is an enzyme which catalyzes the transfer of the propylamine group from S-adenosylmethioninamine to putrescine in the biosynthesis of spermidine. The polyamines putrescine, spermine and spermidine are ubiquitous polycationic mediators of cell growth and differentiation. The SRM protein is one of four enzymes in the polyamine-biosynthetic pathway and completes the final step of spermidine biosynthesis.

ERO1-like protein alpha (ERO1L) is an essential oxidoreductase, which oxidizes proteins and is necessary for the folding of immunoglobulins. ERO1L covalently binds with PDI (protein disulfide-isomerase) and jointly they generate disulfide bonds between proteins in the endoplasmic reticulum. ERO1L is stimulated by hypoxia, proposing that ERO1L is regulated through the HIF (hypoxia inducible transcrip-tion factor) pathway. At low levels ERO1L is ubiquitously expressed, however at high levels it is expressed in the upper digestive tract and esophagus. In addition, ERO1L is involved in the release of the unfolded cholera toxin from reduced P4HB/PDI in case of infection by V.cholerae, thus having a role in retrotranslocation of the toxin. Ferritin light polypeptide protein is the main intracellular iron storage protein in prokaryotes and eukaryotes. Variation in ferritin subunit composition influence the rates of iron uptake and release in various tissues. A key function of ferritin is the storage of iron in a soluble and nontoxic state. Defects in this light chain ferritin gene are associated with several neurodegenerative diseases and hyper ferrit anemia-cataract syndrome.
Ferritin stores iron in a soluble, nontoxic, readily accessible form. Ferritin is needed for iron homeostasis. Iron is taken up in the ferrous form and deposited as ferric hydroxides after it has been oxidized.

Protein Phosphatase 1, Regulatory Subunit 8 (PPP1R8) is the RNA-binding subunit of a key species of protein phosphatase-1 in the nucleus. The PPP1R8 enzyme is an inhibitor subunit of the main nuclear protein phosphatase-1 (PP-1). PPP1R8 has RNA-binding activity however it doesn’t cleave RNA and may target PP-1 to RNA-associated substrates. Two isoforms of the PPP1R8 protein are specific inhibitors of type 1 serine/threonine protein phosphatases which can bind but not cleave RNA. The third isoform of the PPP1R8 protein is deficient in of the phosphatase inhibitory activity nonetheless it is a single-strand endoribonuclease comparable to RNase E of E. coli.

Soluble IL1RL1 also acts as a negative regulator of Th2 cytokine production and high levels have been reported in several disease states and conditions including asthma, sepsis and myocardial infarction.Analysis of the similar gene in mouse suggested that the IL1RL1 receptor can be induced by proinflammatory stimuli, and may be involved in the function of helper T cells.

Aldo-keto reductase family 1 member D1 (AKR1D1) belongs to the AKR superfamily. The AKR family proteins are soluble NADPH oxidoreductases, which have vital roles in the metabolism of drugs, carcinogens and reactive aldehydes. AKR1D1 is also responsible for the catalysis of the 5-beta-reduction of bile acid intermediates and steroid hormones that carry a delta (4)-3-1 structure. AKR1D1 is highly expressed in the liver, colon and testis. Deficiency of the AKR1D1 enzyme may contribute to hepatic dysfunction.

TIE1 is an angiopoitein receptor which takes part in hematopoiesis,angiogenesis and vasculogenesis.TIE1 is expressed primarily on endothelial and hematopoietic progenitor cells. TIE1 is expressed in immature hematopoietic Recombinant Human TIE1 protein cells and platelets. TIE1 upregulates the cell adhesion molecules(CAMs) VCAM-1,ICAM-1 and E-selectinthrough a p38-dependent mechanism. TIE1 has a proinflammatory effect and takes part in the endothelial inflammatory diseases such as atherosclerosis.

CCL4L1 (C-C motif chemokine 4-like) is a member of to intercrine beta (chemokine CC) family. The CCL4L1 protein is similar to CCL4 which inhibits HIV replication in peripheral blood monocytes which express CCR5.
