Synonyms
Interferon alpha-2, IFN-alpha-2, Interferon alpha-A, LeIF A, IFNA2, IFNA2A, IFNA2B, IFNA2C.
Introduction
IFN-alpha is produced by macrophages and has antiviral activities. IFN stimulates the production of two enzymes: protein kinase and an oligoadenylate synthetase.
Description
Interferon-alpha 2c Recombinant Human produced in yeast is a single, glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 165 amino acids and having a molecular mass of 19.3kDa. The IFNA2C is purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques.
Source
Saccharomyces cerevisiae.
Physical Appearance
Sterile Filtered White lyophilized (freeze-dried) powder.
Formulation
Lyophilized from a 0.2μm filtered concentrated solution in PBS, pH 7.4 and 0.02 % Tween-20.
Solubility
It is recommended to reconstitute the lyophilized Interferon-alpha 2c in sterile 18MΩ-cm H2O not less than 100µg/ml, which can then be further diluted to other aqueous solutions.
Stability
Lyophilized IFNA2C although stable at room temperature for 3 weeks, should be stored desiccated below -18°C. Upon reconstitution Interferon-alpha 2c should be stored at 4°C between 2-7 days and for future use below -18°C.
Please prevent freeze-thaw cycles.
Purity
Greater than 97.0% as determined by:
(a) Analysis by RP-HPLC.
(b) Analysis by SDS-PAGE.
